Perhaps it was Guisu’s exceptional outdoor skills; after walking for a bit, the two of them emerged from the complex forest.

The people behind them were probably still trapped in the forest, unable to get out for a while.

At the edge of the forest was a mountain ravine, within which lay a village.

The village was quite large, visible from afar, with at least several hundred to a thousand households.

“Let’s go there and hide for a while.”

Guisu nodded.

Although he was still in good spirits, after losing a lot of blood, he was indeed struggling to walk.

Having held on for so long, he needed a proper rest and some food to replenish his energy.

Baili Xia supported Guisu as they slowly descended along the hillside, and ten minutes later, the two of them arrived in the village.

The small village wasn’t too backward, and places like this seemed particularly common in Bei Miao.

To cultivate the finest medicinal herbs, many areas in Bei Miao still strive to maintain a natural ecosystem.

As a result, there were indeed quite a few similar villages.

Basically, one village was like a small region.

Economically, it wasn’t too backward, just had a more vintage style.

As soon as they entered the village, Baili Xia wanted to find a place, find a phone to contact Bei Tianyou first.

However, with Guisu covered in blood, everyone immediately hid far away as soon as they saw him.

Unexpectedly, they couldn’t even borrow a phone.

“There’s no time, don’t waste any more time, we need to find a place to hide first.” Guisu’s voice was hoarse.

Baili Xia took a moment to glance at him, his face was frighteningly pale.

She had no choice but to support him and keep moving forward.

Afraid of being seen and their hiding place revealed to the assassins behind them, Baili Xia deliberately avoided the crowd.

The sky gradually darkened.

Although there were courtyards everywhere, they couldn’t find a single place to take refuge.

The two of them walked slowly along the street, searching for a suitable place to stay.

As they continued, Baili Xia saw a small inn.

“Why don’t we stay there?”

Guisu shook his head and said faintly, “No, if they come, they will search the inn first.”

“But you…” Forget it, even though he really did look bad.

But if the assassins caught up with them at the inn, it would be even harder to escape.

How can such a big village not have a public phone?

As she was pondering this, Guisu suddenly signaled Baili Xia with a look.

“Go to that store and buy some food to take with us.”

“Okay.” Baili Xia nodded and prepared to head to a small nearby store.

Fearing they might have to escape again tonight, if they didn’t replenish some strength, they might really not be able to get away.

“Wait,” Guisu called to her again, lightly saying, “See if there’s a way to contact Bei Tianyou.”

Baili Xia nodded again and walked toward the store.

Worried that others would remember them too clearly, Guisu intentionally stayed a bit farther from Baili Xia without following too closely.

Baili Xia arrived at the store and looked around.

The store was really small, only selling some snacks and tobacco and alcohol.

Besides sausage and instant noodles, there wasn’t any proper food.

She glanced at the elderly lady sitting behind the counter knitting a sweater and softened her voice.

“Auntie, can you please give me twenty sausages and ten packs of instant noodles to take with? Thank you.”

The elderly lady didn’t look at Baili Xia, just casually agreed and got up to rummage through the cabinet behind her.

After retrieving the sausages and instant noodles, she found a bag, packed them up, and walked over to Baili Xia.

Just as she was about to hand the bag to Baili Xia, the old lady suddenly froze.

Her eyes fixed on Baili Xia, she looked again and again before finally asking.

“Are you… are you the young lady from the Lu Family?”
