Mrs.

Chen came out from behind the counter and tightly grasped Baili Xia’s hand.

“Consider it as giving me a chance to repay kindness, trust me this once.”

The sincerity in her eyes, how could anyone doubt it?

Baili Xia shook her head gently, saying in a soft voice, “This will get you into trouble…”

“What’s there to fear, it’s not like we’re in the old society!”

She looked at Guisu, “Young man, don’t worry. Miss Lu saved my son, I won’t betray you.”

Baili Xia nodded at Guisu.

At least hiding here felt more secure than anywhere else.

His wounds needed treatment; any delay might render his arm completely useless!

“Alright.” Finally, after hesitating for two seconds, Guisu nodded thoughtfully.

Since Baili Xia trusted Mrs.

Chen, he chose to trust her too.

Seeing that Guisu also agreed, Mrs.

Chen promptly led both of them into the shop, guiding them to her yard.

As they entered the yard, Baili Xia and Guisu finally saw the layout of Mrs.

Chen’s home.

This small store was actually her courtyard gate; to get into the yard, they had to pass through the small store.

There were a few houses lined up in the yard; this was a typical ordinary family home.

Mrs.

Chen opened one of the houses and led them inside.

Baili Xia thought Mrs.

Chen was letting them hide here and was about to thank her.

But Mrs.

Chen went to a cabinet in the corner of the room, moved it slightly, and another door appeared behind it.

Baili Xia and Guisu exchanged a glance, surprised at Mrs.

Chen having a secret room like this.

“This was where my son hid for refuge before; Miss Baili saved him later, so it wasn’t used again,” Mrs.

Chen explained.

Refuge…

Baili Xia racked her brain and finally remembered something.

“Your son… was he the one being chased? Hu?”

Mrs.

Chen’s eyes brightened, and she nodded fiercely, “Yes, it was Hu. If it weren’t for you back then…”

Her eyes reddened; knowing the urgency of the situation, it wasn’t suitable to say much.

She quickly said, “Hide in there first, I’ll keep watch outside for you.”

“Thank you.” This time, Baili Xia let down her guard and followed Mrs.

Chen inside.

The room was very small, roughly five or six square meters, with only a bed, a table, and a chair.

“Rest assured, you can stay here for now; this room can’t be seen from outside.”

“Thank you, Mrs.

Chen.” Baili Xia nodded and continued, “Aunt, could you please bring some hot water?

My friend…

he’s hungry.”

Mrs.

Chen glanced at Guisu, his face looking very pale, clearly due to his injuries.

She nodded, “Don’t eat instant noodles, I’ll get you some food.”

“And,” Baili Xia stopped her as she turned to leave, “Mrs.

Chen, I need to contact Mr.

Bei.”

“Seems like someone’s coming outside, I’ll handle it first and then think of a way for you later.”

No time to think further, Mrs.

Chen said this and turned to leave.

Baili Xia really didn’t expect to meet an old friend in such a place.

Thinking back now, the more she thought about it, the more she could remember Mrs.

Chen’s face.

“You’ve been here before?” Guisu stared at her face, pondering internally.

Earlier, Mrs.

Chen called her Miss Lu…

“Yes, I often came here before, even a few years ago. Otherwise, how could Mrs. Chen recognize me?”

A childhood appearance changes completely as one grows up.

“That’s why, do good deeds often. You never know when they might be repaid. From now on, remember to do good, don’t go around hitting or killing people.”
