Early the next morning, Baili Xia finished washing up and went downstairs to the side hall for breakfast.

When she arrived, she saw only the old man sitting alone in the main seat, with Feng Gang standing by his side.

“Old…” She initially wanted to call him “Sir,” but the last time, the old man had said she should call him “Grandpa” like her brother did.

Actually, she didn’t mind calling him Grandpa, because he really did care for her in the past.

Even now, although the old man’s attitude towards her wasn’t as good as before, Baili Xia could still feel in her heart that he cared about her.

After hesitating for a moment, she softly called, “Grandpa, good morning.”

“You’re up?” The old man looked up at Baili Xia and nodded gently at her.

Once Baili Xia sat down in an adjacent seat, he looked at the maid and softly said, “Serve the breakfast.”

The maid acknowledged and withdrew to the kitchen to bring up breakfast.

Baili Xia looked at the empty seat beside her and asked, “Isn’t An Ran coming to eat?”

“She went out early,” the old man replied indifferently.

Baili Xia was somewhat puzzled as to why Ning Anran had gone out so early.

Maybe it was because of everything she heard last night, but now, she was inexplicably concerned about Ning Anran’s actions.

Her older brother and second brother were often busy, and Zimo had to protect her older brother closely, so going out early was possible.

But Ning Anran was in Jin City and didn’t know many people here.

However, given her awkward relationship with both the old man and Ning Anran, it wasn’t easy to ask questions.

When the servants brought breakfast, the old man ate a few bites casually before putting down the cutlery and picking up a napkin to wipe his mouth.

“Grandpa, have you finished eating?” Baili Xia asked, a bit surprised.

He had barely eaten anything.

The old man nodded and said softly, “Not much appetite. You take your time. I’m going out for a walk.”

Baili Xia nodded gently, wanting to persuade him to eat a bit more.

But seeing that he didn’t look very well, she refrained from saying anything further.

She was just wondering inside, whether Grandpa’s poor appetite was due to his mood, the food might not be to his taste, or if he wasn’t feeling well.

She looked up at Feng Gang, who was also frowning, clearly worried about the old man.

Once the old man left, Feng Gang called over the maid.

“What’s going on, has the old man been eating so little lately?”

The maid answered truthfully, “Yes, Housekeeper Feng.

You haven’t been around lately, so you may not know.”

“For the past two days, the old man’s appetite has been very poor.

Perhaps it’s because the food isn’t to his taste.

You need to think of a solution, as this long-term situation might not be good for his health.”

Feng Gang furrowed his brows slightly, his expression becoming serious.

“How could the food not be to his taste?

The old man used to enjoy Chef Wang’s cooking very much.”

The maid looked a bit troubled and helplessly said, “It would be easy if Chef Wang were here.

He fell ill a few days ago and has been on leave for several days.

Now, it’s other chefs doing the cooking.”

Feng Gang nodded gently, understanding the situation.

It’s no wonder the food isn’t appealing; it turns out the cook has changed, but it raised some questions in his mind.

Normally, if someone from the main house wanted to take time off, they would inform him.

Why didn’t Chef Wang inform him this time?

Even though he had doubts, he still said in a deep voice, “I’ll have to ask later to see when Chef Wang will return.”

After saying that, he nodded to Baili Xia and excused himself.
