The situation in the booth hadn’t worsened.

Dongfang Jin picked up the wine bottle, poured himself a glass of red wine, and also poured a glass for Mu Xiaojiu.

Did these two really have a quarrel just now?

After putting down the wine bottle, Dongfang Jin picked up his glass and slightly raised it.

Mu Xiaojiu surprisingly also raised his glass and nodded back at him.

Then, they both downed the wine in one go.

“The taste is still the same as before.”

“Not bad, hasn’t changed much.”

Mu Xiaojiu picked up the wine bottle and poured for both of them.

“Do you think we’ve been acting stupid these past few years?” Dongfang Jin suddenly asked.

Mu Xiaojiu was slightly taken aback, and suddenly, the corners of his lips lifted slightly.

“A bit stupid, but isn’t it all your fault?”

“My fault?

You’re also a stingy guy.”

“Six of one, half a dozen of the other.”

“Indeed.”

The two of them looked at each other, reminiscing about the past.

Every time they met, they would engage in verbal battles, truly providing enough jokes for others.

Those who knew them well would probably think they were childish, even without saying it out loud.

Suddenly, the two burst into laughter.

Simultaneously raising their glasses, they clinked them hard, and then tossed back another glass of wine.

It’s been years; such a trivial matter should be put behind them.

Actually, neither of them truly took this matter to heart; they just stubbornly refused to be the first to admit defeat.

In the distance, the manager was stunned by what he saw.

The two who were just exuding coldness had suddenly become the picture of conviviality, chatting happily.

But seeing their attitude change, he finally felt relieved and turned to attend to other matters.

“So, what’s up?” Mu Xiaojiu asked.

He knew Dongfang Jin wouldn’t ask him out for drinks so late just for a reconciliation.

“I do have something to discuss with you,” Dongfang Jin didn’t hide it, “I went to Bei Miao a while ago.”

“Bei Miao?” A hint of surprise flashed in Mu Xiaojiu’s eyes.

The Dongfang Family had dealings with Bei Miao; that was normal, not surprising.

What was surprising was Dongfang Jin mentioning his visit to Bei Miao; could it be related to that girl?

Although reluctant to admit, Mu Xiaojiu had to accept that Dongfang Jin genuinely cared for the girl, and very deeply at that.

So if Dongfang Jin now said his visit was for the girl’s sake, it wouldn’t be surprising.

Dongfang Jin continued, “This time, I went to discuss business with the Bei Family, but I inadvertently discovered something that might be greatly related to Xiaxia.”

Mu Xiaojiu’s fingertips moved slightly, as he sipped his wine, quietly listening to him continue.

“In Bei Miao, I met someone who told me about the past involving Bei Qingyou, Bei Fengjin, and Baili Sheng.”

“Baili Sheng?” Mu Xiaojiu’s fingertips unconsciously tensed again.

He knew the name and had investigated it; Baili Sheng was Baili Xia’s father, but he had died in a car accident many years ago.

Now that Dongfang Jin mentioned it, could he have really discovered something about the girl’s background?

“He was Xiaxia’s father, as you should know.”

“But that person told me, back then the three were very close friends, often together, and shared a life-altering friendship.”

“But it seems…” He looked at Mu Xiaojiu, paused for a moment, then said earnestly, “Bei Fengjin and Bei Qingyou were the real couple.”
