Be Gentle, My Master
Chapter 1921: Capítulo 1921: Chapter 1924
The two men didn’t stop once along the way, taking Nangong Yun directly to the hall.
In the hall, all the members of the Bei Family were already seated, and Baili Xia was there too.
Seeing Nangong Yun again, Bei Qingyue felt her heart pierced once more.
She looked significantly more haggard than she did last night; that dungeon hadn’t held a Bei Family member for many years.
After all, he is her own flesh and blood; seeing Nangong Yun like this, how could she not feel pain?
Although she really wanted to go over, with the Old Madam here, Bei Qingyue had to hold back.
Suddenly being called over by the Old Madam, everyone was at a loss.
They didn’t know why the Old Madam had summoned them for a discussion, but with Nangong Yun’s arrival, they had some guesses.
“Everyone’s here, let’s begin,” the Old Madam said slowly.
Her gaze fell on Baili Xia, asking, “Xiaxia, was it really you who gave the medicine?”
Bei Qingyue’s heart tightened, poison? To whom? Nangong Yun?
Her somewhat agitated eyes focused on Baili Xia, waiting for her to speak.
Feeling the eyes of everyone converging on her, Baili Xia calmly stood up.
“Old Madam, it’s true that I was the one who administered the medicine to Nangong Yun.”
“What? You actually poisoned Yun’er?” Bei Qingyue couldn’t contain herself, slamming the table as she rose.
“How could you be so cruel, what did Yun’er ever do to you that you’d harm her like this?”
“Do you understand how important a woman’s reputation is to her?”
Baili Xia listened expressionlessly, allowing her to vent.
Waiting until Bei Qingyue stopped, she calmly looked at her and said, “Of course, I wouldn’t harm her without reason; there is always a cause for things.”
“I want to hear, what reason do you have that requires such a vicious method?”
Bei Qingyue sat back down, her furious eyes fixed on Baili Xia.
If the reason she gives doesn’t satisfy her, she certainly won’t let her off.
Baili Xia no longer paid her any mind, turning back to face the Old Madam.
“Old Madam, since I’m taking responsibility for this matter, I won’t shy away.”
“But why I poisoned her, the reason might not be known to everyone.”
She paused, as if organizing her thoughts.
“At last night’s banquet, everyone probably saw that Bei Zicheng had a major grievance with Wu Ming.”
“And Nangong Yun’s grudge against me isn’t simple either. A year ago, she was put into confinement, and everyone is clear about what happened then.”
“So, she and Bei Zicheng plotted together, wanting to frame Wu Ming and me.”
The Old Madam’s eyes tightened, asking, “How did they plan to frame you?”
“They planned to drug Wu Ming and me, then have you catch us in the act.”
“What?” The Old Madam’s icy gaze quickly shifted to Nangong Yun, asking, “Is what Xiaxia said true?”
Nangong Yun’s frightened gaze turned to her, then to Baili Xia, before she hastily nodded.
“Yes, Grandma, there is indeed some animosity between me and Baili Xia.”
“This whole thing was Cousin Zicheng’s plan; I have a soft heart and followed his arrangement, wanting to deal with Baili Xia as well.”
Although she had agreed with Baili Xia in advance on how to explain it, Nangong Yun also had her own plan.
If this matter were traced back to its source, the main responsibility would fall on her, and she might receive severe punishment.
Better to take this opportunity to lay the blame on Bei Zicheng.
After all, Bei Zicheng is no longer here, and given the seemingly discreet relationship between Bei Shengri and the Old Madam, they probably won’t investigate further.
