Be Gentle, My Master
Chapter 2008
“It wasn’t me who pushed her, Baili Xia fell down the stairs on her own, it’s not my fault.”
Ning Anran used her last bit of strength to finish her words.
After that, all that was left was her heavy breathing.
This appearance would make anyone feel a pang of sympathy.
Unfortunately, the most crucial person, Mr. Xiaojiu, wasn’t even willing to spare a glance.
Wen Yu nodded and said, “Alright, wait here, I’ll go find Mr. Nangong and see if he can think of something.”
She gently patted Ning Anran’s head again, telling her to be patient and wait.
Then she stood up, without looking at her brother again, and walked out quickly.
…
Baili Xia woke up again the next morning.
That night, she slept very peacefully, and when she woke up, her head didn’t hurt as much.
When she opened her eyes, she immediately saw another bed placed beside hers.
Zimo was lying on that bed, sleeping quietly.
Baili Xia’s heart warmed, no matter what happened, Zimo would always be by her side to guard her.
Looking at Zimo’s belly, a complicated emotion flashed through her eyes.
Her elder brother definitely wouldn’t be willing to let Zimo stay here, but given Zimo’s personality, there’s probably nothing her elder brother could do.
No longer feeling sleepy, Baili Xia held onto the edge of the bed with both hands, wanting to get up.
Just as she moved slightly, Zimo, who had been trained for years, woke up immediately.
Zimo opened her eyes and got out of bed immediately, walking over to Baili Xia’s side.
“How are you feeling? Better now?”
The anxiety in her eyes was still there, with bloodshot eyes indicating she didn’t sleep well last night.
Baili Xia felt a pang of guilt in her heart; it was all because of her that Zimo had to suffer like this, pregnant.
“I’m fine, thank you for your hard work, Zimo.”
Zimo smiled faintly, not caring at all.
“It’s no trouble, as long as you’re better, I’m relieved.”
She helped Baili Xia sit up from the bed, letting her stand on the ground and take a few steps.
Baili Xia felt that her strength had mostly returned, only her head was slightly dizzy, and the spot on the back of her head was still a little painful.
“You don’t need to assist me anymore, I can walk on my own.”
She gave Zimo a gentle smile, a calm smile.
Zimo watched her for a moment, and although her face still didn’t have much color, she seemed generally fine.
Only then did she let go of Baili Xia’s hand, letting her walk on her own.
Baili Xia walked a few steps, feeling better and better.
“I’m okay now, I want to go out for a walk.”
“Going out now?” Zimo was a bit worried since she had just woken up.
“How about I go get Mr. Nangong to examine you first?”
Baili Xia shook her head, “Really, I’m fine now, don’t worry, I’ll have my master check me later.”
She truly felt much better, aside from the occasional pain from the wound on her head, it was mostly the same as usual.
“Alright then.” Zimo finally nodded, supporting Baili Xia once more, as the two of them walked out of the medical room together.
Once outside, Baili Xia took a deep breath.
The sweet air filled her lungs, and it felt as if it had been a long time since she felt so comfortable.
Zimo, however, watched Baili Xia with words caught in her throat.
“Do you have something to say?” Baili Xia looked at her.
Even though they had been apart for years, the intimacy from the past always remained.
Zimo was straightforward, and if she had something to say, she wouldn’t hold back unless she didn’t want to say it.
Zimo pursed her lips and hesitated before saying, “Last night, Mr. Xiaojiu… your Uncle, stood outside the door all night and left only when dawn broke.”
