After holding back for so long, he finally suppressed the frustration in his chest.

Mu Xiaojiu said lightly, “Go back to your room and rest.”

Baili Xia didn’t say anything this time. She tightly held on to Mu Xiaoyao’s hand, unwilling to let go for even a moment.

Mu Xiaoyao was helpless, nodded to Mu Xiaojiu, and the two of them left the backyard together.

Mu Xiaoyao escorted Baili Xia back to her room, holding her hand as they walked to the bedside and sat down together.

“Take a good rest, don’t worry about school. If you still can’t manage, I will ask for leave for you.”

Baili Xia felt much calmer once back in her room.

She smiled faintly and said, “It’s nothing. I just bumped my head. A little rest and I’ll be fine.”

If possible, she hoped to return to school as soon as she could.

Mu Xiaoyao nodded, “You should sleep for a while.”

Baili Xia obediently lay down on the bed but still didn’t release Mu Xiaoyao’s hand.

“Brother, stay with me.”

Her eyes were filled with hope, making it hard for Mu Xiaoyao to refuse.

He lay down next to Baili Xia, gently resting beside her.

Pulling the blanket over them both.

“Sleep now,” he said softly.

Baili Xia nodded, slowly closing her bright eyes.

The room was very quiet, so quiet that even the sound of a pin drop could be heard.

A moment ago, someone had come upstairs, and Mu Xiaoyao knew it must be Uncle.

He had returned, and Mu Xiaoyao had clearly heard his footsteps pause momentarily in the corridor earlier.

What’s really going on with this girl, suddenly being like this?

Doesn’t she know this might upset Uncle?

Just yesterday, she no longer wanted to be around him.

“Brother, don’t leave me, okay?”

Baili Xia suddenly murmured, as if she was no longer conscious.

Mu Xiaoyao’s heart tightened, he turned slightly, looking gently at her profile.

The girl was very calm, her breathing was steady, as if she had already fallen asleep.

Girl, do you know what you’re saying?

But her soft, fragile voice made his heart feel even softer.

His heart had never been this soft in his entire life.

Mu Xiaoyao stayed with her until he was sure she had fallen completely asleep. Only then did he carefully get up from the bed.

Tried to withdraw his hand from Baili Xia’s grip, but even in sleep, she held on tight.

If he pulled it away forcefully, he feared it would wake the girl.

So Mu Xiaoyao had no choice but to sit quietly by the bedside, waiting for her to release his hand.

After a long time, Baili Xia’s fingers finally moved slightly.

Mu Xiaoyao then managed to withdraw his hand, tucked the blanket around Baili Xia, and quietly left the room.

As soon as he stepped out of Baili Xia’s room, he saw the open door across from him.

Mu Xiaoyao collected his thoughts and walked over.

Knocking lightly twice on the door, he entered without waiting for a response from the person inside.

Mu Xiaojiu was sitting at the desk, fingers rapidly tapping on the keyboard.

He had heard Baili Xia’s door open moments ago, realizing Mu Xiaoyao had come out.

Mu Xiaoyao sat down on the sofa, silently watching him.

It was hard to tell how much time passed before Mu Xiaojiu’s fingers stopped typing.

“Something wrong?”

Mu Xiaoyao didn’t respond directly, instead, he asked, “Don’t you want to ask about her condition?”

Mu Xiaojiu turned his head slightly, calmly watching him.

“She’s very afraid of you,” Mu Xiaoyao said, his tone neutral.

Mu Xiaojiu’s fingertips twitched, his emotions briefly stirred.

He could also see the girl’s fear towards him; whenever he tried to approach, she would become particularly flustered.

This time, waking up, it was especially noticeable.

Even more so than her previous attitude towards him, she seemed even more afraid.
