Be Gentle, My Master
Chapter 2319
“Mr. Mu?”
The maid’s voice brought Mu Xiaoyao back to his thoughts, and he looked up.
The maid was indeed standing opposite, staring at him in a daze.
Rarely having such a chance to look closely at Mr. Mu, the maid was very excited inside.
Mu Xiaoyao slightly furrowed his brows and said blandly, “You can leave now.”
“Then the meal…” The maid hesitated.
“Prepare to serve the meal.”
The maid left, and Mu Xiaoyao’s gaze fell on Baili Xia.
“I’m afraid only you can call Uncle down.”
Baili Xia remained silent, still struggling within her heart.
She tried hard to persuade herself that these matters had nothing to do with Uncle, that he was just being used.
But in the end, a voice inside always reminded her.
Even if he was being used, the person who acted was still him.
But without Uncle, Grandpa might forever bear the infamy of murder and seizure of others’ property.
Uncle had already poured too much into her affairs.
“Okay, I’ll go.” She stood up, speaking calmly.
Though her feelings towards Uncle were unresolved, solely regarding the press conference and the funeral, she indeed owed him gratitude.
Mu Xiaoyao nodded, watching her go upstairs.
He kept listening, believing that this girl could surely call Uncle down.
Uncle hadn’t properly eaten for a few days; he didn’t even have breakfast this morning.
If this continues, Uncle won’t hold up either.
But the sound of knocking didn’t come for a while.
Baili Xia arrived at Mu Xiaojiu’s door, staring blankly at the burgundy door.
Her hand was heavy, seemingly unable to lift.
This might be due to the struggling voice deep within her heart.
After standing there for a while, she finally raised a hand and let it fall onto the door.
Knock, knock, knock, the deep sound made Mu Xiaoyao’s heart flutter a few times.
Inexplicably tense, a slight sweat formed on his palms.
No sound came from the room; Baili Xia’s hand again fell upon the door.
“Uncle.”
This time, she called out softly.
Within seconds, the door swung open with a whoosh.
Mu Xiaojiu stood at the door, looking indifferent.
There was no trace of the coldness that had led him to refuse the maid entry earlier.
“Uncle, come down for dinner.”
When Baili Xia looked at him, her gaze carried a trace of awkwardness.
Knowing well that Uncle had done a lot for her, why couldn’t she let go of those things inside?
Mu Xiaojiu opened the door quickly but remained outwardly calm.
He lowered his gaze to Baili Xia and said lightly, “I don’t have much appetite.”
Baili Xia gathered her thoughts, meeting Mu Xiaojiu’s gaze.
No appetite, such a poor excuse he could come up with.
Knowing that he was surely feeling uncomfortable inside, yet she believed that having a proper meal when busy outside must be a luxury for him.
Baili Xia thought for a moment, then said, “Even if you don’t have an appetite, you should eat something; otherwise, how will your body hold up?”
“I can manage.”
Mu Xiaojiu responded neatly and without hesitation.
Baili Xia couldn’t help but want to roll her eyes; Uncle was starting to be stubborn again.
How could such a cold and hard man sometimes be so amusing in front of her?
At this moment, shouldn’t she be the one in a bad mood?
“Uncle, if you don’t go eat, then we’ll just stay with you.”
“Anyway, I’m not in a good mood either, and don’t have much appetite.”
Finishing her words, she gazed calmly at Mu Xiaojiu.
This attitude was clearly coercive.
Mu Xiaojiu couldn’t help but clench his fist; this girl, dared to use herself to threaten him.
Didn’t she know that having had so many blood draws, her current physical condition wasn’t good?
