Be Gentle, My Master

Chapter 2323: Forgiveness

  • Next Chapter

Baili Xia’s gaze couldn’t help but be drawn towards the crowd again.

That figure remained so dazzling, even standing in the drizzle, it seemed to carry its own glow.

Forgiveness… She had actually forgiven him a long, long time ago.

Perhaps sometimes when she thought of her grandfather, her heart would still ache and feel sour.

But, if she hadn’t forgiven him, then why would she often feel homesick, often thinking about him?

To her, maybe the difference between forgiving or not forgiving was no longer significant.

“What are you really thinking?” Dongfang Jin leaned against the car door, looking at her sitting in the back seat.

If she had let go, why was there still such an air of despair in her eyes?

Clearly, there was love in her heart, yet it was evident she couldn’t find a way out.

What was she truly thinking?

“What could I be thinking about?” Baili Xia withdrew her gaze, looked up at him, noticing his increasingly deep and defined features.

“How are you lately? You’re not young anymore, have you found someone special?”

“You’re not married yet, how could I find someone?” Dongfang Jin’s playful smile faded, and he looked at her calmly.

At that moment, Baili Xia suddenly felt a hint of unease that she couldn’t quite describe.

However, the unease only flashed by, quickly escaping even her own grasp.

She turned away, laughing nonchalantly: “Why would your dating life have anything to do with my marriage status?”

Dongfang Jin’s thin lips moved slightly, but ultimately, he chose to say nothing.

“They’re back, I…should be heading back.”

“What do you plan to do in the future?” Dongfang Jin followed her as she stepped out of the car.

“I haven’t decided yet.” Baili Xia just paused momentarily, then continued walking.

Perhaps she already knew, but why burden him with unnecessary troubles?

Jin’s concern for her was genuine, but what she needed least right now was worry like this.

Unable to give back, it was best to ask for nothing at all.

“Uncle he… Uncle! Watch out!”

A sliver of silver flickered weakly in the drizzle.

Mu Xiaojiu and Mu Xiaoyao stood with their backs towards that direction, unsuspecting of the sniper rifle.

However, facing that direction, Baili Xia saw it clearly.

Dongfang Jin’s heart tightened, it was too late to stop it.

With a bang, the sound of gunfire shattered the rain’s tranquility.

The blood-stained flowers quickly became a glaring splotch.

The next moment, the gunshot resounded, and the sniper hidden in the shadows was soon shot dead.

The crowd was in chaos, voices surged into a clamor.

Pain, an endless spreading pain, so intense that she could barely catch her breath.

Yet, the face before her was so clear, so… pure.

No deathly pallor, no glaring blood, nothing, just purity.

Uncle… is safe.

“Call an ambulance, call an ambulance!”

Mu Xiaojiu suddenly lifted the girl who collapsed in his arms, his cold eyes filled with unprecedented fear and panic.

“Call an ambulance! Get me an ambulance, now!”

Dongfang Jin’s eyes were tinged with a terrifying crimson, his voice almost reaching hysteria.

“There’s no time, Xiaoyao, drive!”

Mu Xiaojiu’s voice trembled, losing its usual steadiness, his lips and teeth quivering, and even his voice shook.

“Xiaoyao!”

With a screech, Baili Xia seemed to see the car stopping in front of them.

Yet she was in such pain, pain that blurred her vision.

But she still saw clearly, Uncle… is safe.

As long as he’s okay.
