Most of the people here are local businessmen or high-ranking officials from Bei Miao.

Everyone is connected by countless threads; usually, they might not have the chance to gather in one place.

But an occasion like this just happens to provide an opportunity to discuss new projects or cooperation.

Nan Fengqing saw Bei Fengjin and walked over to his table with a glass in hand.

“Mr. Bei, we haven’t seen each other for so many years. I trust you’ve been well.”

Bei Fengjin lifted his glass slightly and said calmly, “Same to you. How come you had time to come over?”

They clinked glasses, and both drained them in one go.

It seemed they weren’t very close, but neither were they strangers.

Nan Fengqing said, “It’s the Old Madam’s birthday. If I didn’t come, people would talk. This trip is also to bring the Nan Family juniors over to have a look and get to know some people.”

“Those two young ones just now were…?”

Nan Fengqing immediately said, “My eldest brother’s son, Nan Ansheng, and my daughter, Nan LanLan.”

Bei Fengjin nodded and didn’t say anything more.

Baili Xia glanced over at the table where Nan Fengqing had been sitting; the two young people were already nowhere to be seen.

Nan Fengqing said mildly, “There’s been no news of you for so many years. Did you go off to live in seclusion outside the world?”

Bei Fengjin raised an eyebrow and didn’t respond.

He was in seclusion, but the place he’d chosen to hide was within the Bei Family.

The fact that this hadn’t leaked out all these years showed just how well the Old Madam had kept the secret.

Bei Fengjin asked in return, “Has your eldest brother’s illness gotten any better?”

Nan Fengqing let out a light sigh, his voice full of disappointment.

“Alas, it’s still the same. After all these years, there’s been no real improvement.”

Bei Fengjin felt a pang of regret for him. The Nan Family’s decline had quite a lot to do with Nan Fengnian’s health.

If he had stayed well, things would never have deteriorated to this point.

This was also why, when the Bei Family chose candidates for the new Clan Leader, they excluded Bei Tianyou.

The Bei Family was afraid his illness would cause them to repeat the Nan Family’s fate.

Nan Fengqing seemed to have something to say, but hesitated.

After thinking for a moment, he finally couldn’t hold back and said, “Mr. Bei, I really shouldn’t be coming to you with this, but when it comes to refining medicine, no one in all of Bei Miao can match you.”

“Maybe, if you were willing to help refine a medicine, my eldest brother’s illness could be cured.”

Both great families were pharmaceutical clans; to open his mouth and beg for a prescription like this was a serious loss of face.

But his eldest brother’s health forced Nan Fengqing to swallow his pride.

Bei Fengjin was slightly taken aback. As for having no rival in refining medicine, he didn’t quite agree.

At the very least, You’er’s skill in refining medicine was no worse than his.

Thinking of going to treat Nan Fengnian’s illness, he lightly shook his head.

Nan Fengqing immediately tensed up, thinking he was unwilling to help.

Bei Fengjin explained evenly, “It’s not that I don’t want to lend a hand, but even I may be powerless.”

“You has also been sick since childhood, and I still haven’t managed to fully heal his body.”

His strength lay in refining medicine. His medical skills were only better than that of ordinary doctors, nowhere near the top tier.

As he said this, his gaze swept over Baili Xia.

He continued, “There is someone who might actually have that ability. You could try going to him.”

“Who?” Nan Fengqing asked at once.

“This girl’s master.”

Baili Xia lifted her brows slightly; she hadn’t expected her father to bring up her master.

Nan Fengqing looked at her, suspicion in his eyes.

“And this is…?”

The girl did seem somewhat familiar, but he couldn’t recall where he’d seen her.

“She’s the Ghost Doctor’s disciple.”

Nan Fengqing exclaimed, “The Ghost Doctor? Nangong Xu?”
