Seeing Bei Fengjin nod, Nan Fengqing realized that the girl in front of him was not simple either, as she was the Ghost Doctor’s apprentice.

“I apologize, I was disrespectful. How should I address you, Miss?”

Baili Xia smiled slightly and said softly, “Just call me Xiaxia.”

Nan Fengqing nodded and quickly said, “Miss Xiaxia, my elder brother is the head of the Nan Family and has long been suffering from illness.”

“I wonder if it’s possible to contact Mr. Nangong. If we could get the Ghost Doctor’s help, the Nan Family is willing to offer a generous reward.”

Baili Xia nodded. She felt a tinge of sympathy for people who have been chronically ill.

She and Bei Tianyou had such a good relationship, she understood the feeling of being beset by illness and unable to fulfill one’s dreams.

However, when it came to Nangong Xu, she didn’t have the authority to make decisions for him.

“I’m sorry, I can’t promise you that. But I will help you ask my master.”

Nan Fengqing was somewhat disappointed, but he could foresee this outcome.

The Ghost Doctor would absolutely not treat people casually.

“In that case, I’ll thank Miss Xiaxia in advance.”

Nan Fengqing and Bei Fengjin continued chatting about past events, while Baili Xia and Wu Ming listened from the side.

After a while, Wu Ming gently touched Baili Xia’s arm and gave a hint with his eyes.

Baili Xia understood and said, “Uncle Fengjin, Mr. Nan, you continue chatting, we’ll take a walk in the backyard.”

Once Bei Fengjin nodded, Baili Xia and Wu Ming stood up and headed to the backyard.

In the backyard, they found a secluded spot in the garden and stopped.

Baili Xia looked at Wu Ming and asked softly, “What is it?”

Wu Ming spoke in a low voice, saying, “Do you really plan to let Nangong Xu help him?”

“I don’t know, I just feel that people who are chronically ill are really pitiful.”

This was merely her thought; whether or not they should be saved, whether it was worth saving, was another matter.

There was a hint of complexity in Wu Ming’s indifferent gaze, wondering why this girl needed to be so kind-hearted.

“You don’t know the relationship between the Bei Family and the Nan Family. If you go save him, it could displease the Bei Family.”

Baili Xia nodded; she had thought of this earlier.

This was also why she didn’t agree immediately.

Although she hadn’t officially recognized her ancestors, she already considered herself part of the Bei Family.

After thinking about it, she said, “It’s better to wait until I see Master in the future. He’s Uncle’s person.”

“Maybe he won’t want to go, or maybe Uncle won’t let him go.”

Wu Ming looked at her quietly and said nothing more.

Nangong Xu not wanting to go? Impossible.

As long as it’s a request from this girl, how could Nangong Xu not go?

As for him, he wouldn’t stop it either.

While the two were whispering, a voice suddenly came.

“Why do you have so many things to say, I told you not to interfere with me.”

It was a girl’s voice, with a hint of impatience.

Followed by a gentle male voice.

“I told you to listen to me this time. This is the Bei Family, don’t let people laugh at us.”

The girl obviously didn’t take it seriously and mocked, “Ha, ha, let others laugh at us? You’re the biggest joke in our family.”

In this garden divided into countless small spaces, the voices of the two seemed as if they were just next door.

Baili Xia and Wu Ming exchanged glances and walked to the tree-formed fence.

Through the dense branches and leaves, they saw the two young members of the Nan Family standing there in dispute over something.

Nan Ansheng was clearly at a loss for words against Nan Lanlan, his face turning red.
