When Nan LanLan arrived at the backyard, the complex garden had already concealed Mu Xiaoyao’s traces.

Helplessly, she could only wander around the backyard, hoping to encounter him again.

Yet after searching for a while, she still couldn’t find Mu Xiaoyao.

Spotting a security personnel, she approached and asked, “Did you see where a tall and handsome man went just now?”

Nan LanLan looked at the guard, face stern.

The guard immediately guessed who she was referring to, as Mu Xiaoyao was the only person of such prominence who had been passing through.

He pointed in the direction Mu Xiaoyao left: “To the right.”

Without even bothering to glance at him, Nan LanLan immediately headed in that direction.

After she walked some distance and passed through two smaller courtyards, indeed, she spotted Mu Xiaoyao’s figure.

However, just as she was about to approach, she suddenly noticed another person standing behind a tree.

The lighting in the backyard was dim, and since she wasn’t close enough, she couldn’t make out who that person was.

Nan LanLan considered for a moment, then immediately walked to an adjacent courtyard.

From here, she could see through the trees to find out who Mu Xiaoyao was speaking with.

Once she found a good position, her expression changed immediately upon seeing the person behind the tree.

Wasn’t that Bei Xier?

She had seen this woman before when paying respects to the Old Madam, standing right beside her.

Although her face was passable, she had no sense of style whatsoever.

Plain and simple, without a shred of allure.

How could a woman like that catch Mr. Mu Xiaoyao’s eye?

Behind Bei Xier stood a man whose face bore a horrifying scar.

Judging by the looks, he seemed to be a bodyguard.

Yet the closeness between her and Mu Xiaoyao exceeded that of ordinary friends, were their relationship that intimate?

Could he be Bei Xier’s boyfriend?

How could that be possible? How could someone like Bei Xier be worthy of someone as charming as Mr. Mu of the Mu Group?

Even though she bore the surname Bei, she was merely a stray girl picked up, who didn’t know she was just an adopted daughter?

And she, a dignified Miss Nan with pure lineage, was far superior in status.

She had intended to eavesdrop on their conversation, but the distance made it impossible to hear anything.

Nan LanLan glared fiercely in “Bei Xier’s” direction, stomped her foot, and headed back towards the front yard.

Mu Xiaoyao and Wu Ming heard the sound, furrowed their brows, and glanced towards Nan LanLan’s direction.

They noticed a figure flash by, already moving away.

Mu Xiaoyao followed to see what was going on, and upon recognizing Nan LanLan, he felt a wave of disgust.

Baili Xia noticed his expression and asked, “Who was that just now?”

Mu Xiaoyao, having no fondness for such people, couldn’t be bothered to mention it.

“I don’t know, must have come to the wrong place.”

With quite a few people around, it was normal for someone to wind up here, and Wu Ming and Baili Xia asked no further questions.

“It’s getting late, the banquet should be ending soon, let’s head back.”

As the banquet neared its end, Nangong Yun glanced sideways at Nangong Qingqing who sat beside him.

Seeing her delay, Nangong Yun shot her another warning glare.

Such little courage, failing even this trivial task, would surely result in severe reprimand later.

Nangong Qingqing hesitated inwardly, knowing full well that if she didn’t follow through, an even harsher treatment awaited her.

But right now, she was under the watchful eyes of the Bei Family…to poison someone.

If caught, how would she be punished?
