“Cousin.” Bei Xier softly called upon approaching Bei Zicheng.

Even though they had only met once last night, such etiquette was still essential.

Moreover, since she was now at the Bei Family, they might have many opportunities to meet in the future.

She didn’t want to leave a bad impression on him too quickly.

In fact, it wasn’t just him; she held an attitude of neither arrogance nor humility towards the other members of the Bei Family.

Neither flattering nor ingratiating, but also not instigating any conflict with them.

Bei Zicheng only nodded slightly, glanced at her attire, and his thick eyebrows unconsciously furrowed: “So early, Xixi cousin, where are you planning to go?”

“Going to the back mountain for training, the competition is about to start, so I want to make the most of the time.”

Bei Xier never thought about hiding her whereabouts.

Listening to this, Bei Zicheng couldn’t help but reassess her, a trace of different light appearing in his eyes.

A seemingly delicate little girl actually going to train with those men…

However, his main purpose today wasn’t to chat with her, so he withdrew his gaze from her.

Pressing his lips, he had some words to say, yet Bei Zicheng was momentarily unsure of how to start.

“Cousin, if there’s nothing else, I’ll be on my way; sister is inside, you can find her there.”

Bei Xier smiled slightly at Bei Zicheng and turned to leave.

Just mentioning the word “sister” still made Bei Xier feel a bit distant.

Ping’er was her personal maid, and Nangong Yun’s earlier conduct towards Ping’er was probably directed at her.

“Xi’er.” But just as Bei Xier took two steps, Bei Zicheng’s soft voice came over.

Bei Xier stopped, turned to look at him, surprised: “Cousin, is there something else?”

“I’m not here to find your sister.”

After contemplating for a while, Bei Zicheng finally spoke: “Actually, I rarely come to the Bei Family, this visit is mainly for grandma’s birthday.”

“Last night I asked your sister, and she said she had something to do today, so… today I came mainly to see you.”

“See me?” How often he returned to the Bei Family and whether her sister was busy or not, these were… what did they have to do with her?

Feeling a bit puzzled by his words, Bei Xier could only look at him, waiting for him to continue.

“It’s like this, I want to go out today to buy gifts for grandma, to show some filial piety.”

Bei Zicheng scratched his head, appearing somewhat embarrassed.

“You know us men seldom understand the mind of the elderly, so I wanted to ask Xi’er if you could spare some time this afternoon to accompany me.”

“So that’s how it is.” Bei Xier hesitated, “But I…”

“I won’t take much of your time, I…” Bei Zicheng lowered his head, looking a bit forlorn.

“You know, there are some rumors… I just want grandma to accept me again, I am her grandson after all.”

“But your sister… I really dare not ask her again, Xi’er, are you unwilling to help me too?”

Seeing his dejected demeanor, Bei Xier’s heart softened.

She sighed: “Alright, I’ll accompany you this afternoon, but I need to train now.”

“Okay, let’s stick to the plan.” Bei Zicheng’s face finally showed a hint of a smile, “Then wait here at three in the afternoon.”
