Be Gentle, My Master
Chapter 2449
When Baili Xia arrived at the main house, the old man had already had lunch and was sitting on the sofa reading the newspaper.
His eyes had long been affected by presbyopia, and he had to wear glasses to read the newspaper.
Baili Xia saw this scene from afar and couldn’t help but feel a tremor in her heart.
Grandpa, he’s really aged.
But up until now, she still couldn’t recognize him, couldn’t truly fulfill her filial duty.
After watching in the courtyard for a moment, Baili Xia finally lifted her somewhat heavy steps and headed towards the hall.
“Sir Bei, is your health better today?”
Before she reached the hall, she took the initiative to speak up.
Afraid of startling him, Baili Xia didn’t forget to remind him softly as she entered.
The old man slowly opened his eyes and looked at Baili Xia, his eyes full of a joyful smile.
“Why did you come over so quickly? Don’t you rest at noon.”
“I never had a habit of napping. After lunch, with nothing to do, I just came over here. Why? Not welcoming?”
Baili Xia smiled faintly, teasingly asked.
“How could that be? You coming here makes me more than happy.”
Seeing him about to get up, Baili Xia quickly went to his side and gently pressed him back.
“Sir Bei, you just lie down like this. I can give you acupuncture now.”
The old man nodded, said nothing more, and obediently lay down.
“But come to think of it, Sir Bei, your health seems to have improved a lot recently.”
“You must remember what I say, take some time to walk around the courtyard; it does have certain benefits for your health, you know?”
When facing the old man, Baili Xia not only spoke gently but even her eyes held more warmth than usual.
The old man stretched out his large hand full of wrinkles and lightly patted the back of Baili Xia’s hand resting on his shoulders, filled with satisfaction.
“Rest assured, I may be old, but I won’t be senile to that extent.”
After a pause, he continued: “Besides, with you and Xi’er taking care of me, what’s there to fear?”
Even though he spoke this way, looking at the white hair on his head, Baili Xia felt a pang in her nose, and her heart was painfully twisted.
Grandpa, do you know, the one standing beside you is your granddaughter.
Yet, up till now, I can’t tell you this secret.
She reached out to rub his head full of white hair, taking a deep breath and softly said.
“Sir Bei, close your eyes and rest, I am giving you acupuncture now.”
“Alright.” Responding briefly, the old man finally closed his eyes and completely entrusted himself to Baili Xia.
The girl always brought him a sense of peace, no matter when or where, he’d follow whatever she said unconditionally.
Seeing him close his eyes, Baili Xia took out the needles and carefully began acupuncture.
“Sir Bei, if you feel pain, tell me, alright? Baili Xia gently reminded while she performed acupuncture.
“I trust your skills.” The old man seemed to have complete confidence in her ability.
“However, don’t always call me Sir Bei, Sir Bei — it’s awkward, like a child from another family.”
The old man sighed lightly, suddenly thought of something, and his eyes brightened.
“You and You… cough, cough, I mean, you’re all youngsters, can you just like You, call me Grandpa from now on?”
“I…” Baili Xia was somewhat stunned, this… in comparison, she preferred to call him Grandpa.
But she had no grounds to do so.
