“Xi’er, we’ve been walking for so long, I’m a bit hungry. Why don’t we go inside and have something to eat?”

Retracting his gaze from the distance, Bei Zicheng looked down at Bei Xier and suddenly suggested.

“Eat something?” Bei Xier looked up at Bei Zicheng, her eyes full of doubt and hesitation.

“But, cousin, it’s only after four, I’m not hungry at all.”

He said he wanted her to help choose a gift for their grandmother, but they’ve been wandering here for so long without even stepping into a store.

It’s unclear what exactly her cousin intends. Not to mention discussing which gift to buy, they haven’t exchanged many words.

In any case, no matter how you look at it, her cousin’s demeanor today is remarkably different from last night’s.

However, pinpointing the differences is something she can’t quite articulate at the moment.

Seeing her hesitating, Bei Zicheng was silent for a while before forcing a slightly awkward smile.

“Actually, it’s like this, I had some things to take care of at noon, so I haven’t eaten lunch.”

Upon hearing that he hadn’t eaten lunch, Bei Xier suddenly understood, looking up at him, there was no more hesitation in her eyes.

“Cousin, it’s already past four, and you haven’t had lunch yet. Let’s go find something to eat now.”

Bei Xier didn’t delay any further and turned to look for a restaurant.

Seeing her heading to the restaurant ahead, Bei Zicheng immediately grabbed her hand and pointed to a nearby, smaller restaurant.

“Let’s try this one. I’ve eaten here before, it’s not bad.”

The restaurant had glass that was all dark-colored.

It was easy to see outside from inside, but difficult to see the interior from the outside.

For some unknown reason, Bei Xier wasn’t fond of such a dim environment.

However, since it was just a place to eat, she didn’t mind too much.

“Oh, okay.” Bei Xier nodded and stepped inside.

Following her, Bei Zicheng seemed relieved and entered the restaurant with her.

Saying everything was fine would definitely be a lie.

Before Mu Xiaoyao could speak, Baili Xia had already stepped out of the alley, quickly heading towards the restaurant.

She’d seen Bei Zicheng’s actions just now.

Without going after them, they wouldn’t know how he would treat Xi’er.

“Girl, be careful.” Mu Xiaoyao whispered as they approached the restaurant.

The restaurant’s glass was typical of high-end eateries, preventing the eyes of passersby outside from disturbing the tranquility inside.

But, choosing this kind of restaurant now raises questions.

There’s a nagging feeling that things aren’t just coincidental, Bei Zicheng must have done it deliberately.

“Hmm.” Glancing back at Mu Xiaoyao, Baili Xia said quietly, “You be careful too.”

They were completely unprepared for what happened next: upon entering the restaurant, not only were Bei Zicheng and Bei Xier nowhere to be seen, but not a single guest was visible.

Though it might’ve been too early for dinner, where have Bei Zicheng and Bei Xier gone?

If their eyes weren’t deceiving them, this restaurant had only one entrance; where could they have disappeared to?

The restaurant was draped in darkness; could they be hiding in an inconspicuous corner?

Despite their doubts, after a few seconds of pausing, Baili Xia still walked to a corner seat to assess the situation.

Unexpectedly, just as they sat down, one of the waiters firmly closed the restaurant’s glass door…
