Be Gentle, My Master
Chapter 2500
Mu Xiaoyao seemed unaware of the black SUV trailing not far behind them.
The car moved like a ghost in the night, with its headlights turned off.
It kept accelerating, chasing the Maybach ahead while searching for the right moment.
The two cars drove onto a desolate road, with barren land on either side.
Suddenly, the car behind accelerated sharply, its headlights piercing through the darkness.
The intense light reflecting from the rearview mirror momentarily blinded Mu Xiaoyao.
Before he could react, the car was hit hard from behind, veering off the road.
Mu Xiaoyao’s vision returned, and he looked out the window.
He saw three shadows emerge from the SUV and walk towards them.
Bei Xier also saw them and exclaimed, “They’re not from the Bei Family.”
Mu Xiaoyao didn’t need her to say it; he already knew.
These people were dressed just like those from the mysterious organization.
His lips curled with disdain; three people thinking they could take him on—this organization underestimated him.
Mu Xiaoyao unbuckled his seatbelt, ready to get out of the car.
But as soon as his hand touched the door handle, he suddenly saw them raise their hands.
Though it was too dark to see what was in their hands, his years of training told him what they intended.
Mu Xiaoyao immediately shifted gear, floored the accelerator, and the car swiftly changed direction.
Simultaneously, gunshots rang out in his ears.
They were actually using guns.
A barrage of bullets pounded the car body with a cacophony of bangs and thuds.
Those people didn’t seem to care if they might accidentally hit Bei Xier.
This Maybach was specially modified, its thick body like a fortress, with bulletproof glass.
Ignoring them, Mu Xiaoyao turned the car around and got back on the road.
Realizing they couldn’t stop him, those people ran back, intending to intercept him again.
But by the time they got back in the car, Mu Xiaoyao’s trace was lost in the darkness.
In such pitch-blackness, with the headlights off, it was hard to be detected.
Mu Xiaoyao turned off the headlights, sped forward, found a fork in the road, and immediately changed course.
Still shaken from the recent scare, Bei Xier hadn’t calmed down yet.
Surviving such a hail of bullets seemed almost miraculous.
She glanced at Mu Xiaoyao, seeing only his perfect profile in the dark.
The rugged lines highlighted a resolute man, his eyes calm and composed, looking ahead.
His poise in the face of danger earned her genuine respect from the depths of her heart.
She just didn’t know if there would be more dangers waiting for them up ahead.
Suddenly, Mu Xiaoyao spoke, “They wanted to kill you.”
His deep voice shattered the silence inside the car, and Bei Xier’s expression tightened, feeling an inexplicable panic.
Earlier, the shooters had no specific target, indiscriminately firing at the car.
If they wanted to rescue her, they definitely wouldn’t have acted like that.
“I don’t know who they are.”
That was the only thing Bei Xier was sure of; if they were Bei Family folks, they wouldn’t have attacked her.
“Do you now believe I’m not involved in today’s incident?”
She was almost killed, and if Mu Xiaoyao still doubted her, she’d question his intelligence.
Mu Xiaoyao gave her a nonchalant glance, then said something that drove her mad.
“Perhaps, you’ve been abandoned.”
