Wu Ming struggled to say even a complete sentence, his body trembling slightly.

Baili Xia raised her hand and placed it on his forehead.

It’s so hot…

Her heart tightened, realizing that the anti-inflammatory herbs she found ultimately had limited effect, unable to compare with processed medicine.

Now he’s starting to have a fever, she doesn’t know what will happen to him tonight.

She must go out to find some fever-reducing medicine and something to eat, otherwise Wu Ming’s condition may worsen.

Baili Xia thought for a moment and lay down beside Wu Ming.

She released Wu Ming’s hand, reached out and embraced his back, moving her body closer to him.

Wu Ming’s consciousness was already blurry, but feeling Baili Xia’s body, it was as if he suddenly regained awareness.

His large hand lifted, passing through her armpit, holding her tightly in his arms.

“So cold…”

Perhaps he was truly too cold, doing all this unintentionally.

Baili Xia only felt as if she was being squeezed into his body, the two being pressed tightly together.

Such an action was too embarrassing, yet now Baili Xia couldn’t mind it at all.

Though Wu Ming usually seemed to like joking and taking advantage of her, today he got hurt like this to save her.

Baili Xia felt the strong body beside her trembling slightly.

Wu Ming’s body seemed to be getting hotter, his breaths heavier.

The burning breath sprayed on Baili Xia’s slender neck, making her even more worried.

Her hand placed on Wu Ming’s back, gently patting.

While patting, she comforted, “Wu Ming, sleep, everything will be better when you wake up.”

Wu Ming seemed to hear her voice, his eyelids moved slightly.

After a while, his arm suddenly hugged Baili Xia tighter, as if very afraid of losing her.

His thick eyebrows knitted together, murmuring softly, “Girl, don’t leave me…”

Within the somewhat weak voice, there was a trace of heartache.

Baili Xia’s heart was suddenly touched; was the girl Wu Ming mentioned really her?

In those words, there was clearly a sense of attachment.

Even though they’d known each other for a long time, she always regarded Wu Ming as her mentor and brother.

Could it be that, in Wu Ming’s heart, his feelings for her are different?

Now with Wu Ming’s fuzzy consciousness, Baili Xia was unsure what he really thought.

But seeing his constantly twitching eyelids, she knew he must be feeling uneasy.

She could only gently pat Wu Ming’s back, softly saying, “Alright, I won’t leave you, you should sleep now.”

Wu Ming seemed to truly hear Baili Xia’s words, his tangled eyebrows gradually relaxing.

The arm holding Baili Xia tightly also eased up, no longer so stiff.

His lips slightly twitched into a weak curve.

Holding her, it seemed his heart was much more at ease.

Wu Ming’s body relaxed, his breathing became steadily even.

Finally, in Baili Xia’s arms, he slowly drifted off to sleep.

Seeing him finally asleep, Baili Xia let out a sigh of relief.

But she’s still afraid to move, worried about stirring Wu Ming awake again.

Watching him asleep, with that lingering smile by his lips, Baili Xia’s heart was fiercely clenched.

If possible, she’d rather have the playful Wu Ming, who jokes with her every day.

Instead of this current, frail Wu Ming lying there, without strength to even speak.

Multiple times they’ve been this close, but the impression left on Baili Xia was always just awkwardness.

Yet today, there seemed to be something more.
