Be Gentle, My Master
Chapter 2504
Baili Xia couldn’t clearly explain what it was, as if something in the dark connected the two of them.
It seemed to be a kind of life-and-death dependent connection.
Her gaze fell on the scarred face so close to hers; for the first time, she looked at Wu Ming so carefully.
The scarred face vaguely revealed former beauty.
A sharp silhouette, enticing thin lips, a high nose, and domineering eyebrows.
What did Wu Ming look like before? He must have been a handsome man too, right?
Thinking about this, Baili Xia suddenly realized she seemed to know very little about him.
All she knew was that Wu Ming was Uncle’s subordinate, and he was exceptionally skilled.
His face was disfigured, hence the scars.
Regarding other matters, she knew nothing.
She didn’t ask, and he didn’t say.
Yet this person, whom she didn’t understand, saved her life time and again.
Even if rescuing her meant risking his own life.
Baili Xia raised her hand, her soft fingers gently touching the scars.
He, like Uncle, also had many scars on his body.
She didn’t find these scars frightening at all; instead, they were the marks of Wu Ming’s life.
“Wu Ming, thank you for saving me again.”
“Next, it’s my turn to save you.”
“I won’t let anything happen to you, trust me, Wu Ming.”
Baili Xia whispered softly, her voice so quiet she could barely hear it herself.
Only after Wu Ming fell deeply asleep did she move his heavy arm off her.
She stood up and walked out of the cave.
Night had completely fallen. In this environment, she wasn’t sure if the men in black were still pursuing them.
Baili Xia looked around, and seeing nothing unusual, she started walking into the distance.
Earlier, when fetching water, she noticed some trees with wild fruits.
At the time, she hurried back to care for Wu Ming and didn’t pick any.
Now, those wild fruits could come in handy.
Wu Ming had expended a lot, and once awake, he’d need these fruits to replenish energy.
Following her memory from the day, Baili Xia soon arrived at the trees again.
In the moonlight, she saw the round wild fruits hanging on the trees.
Though she didn’t know what kind of fruit it was, it seemed delicious.
Baili Xia rolled up her pants and sleeves before hugging the trunk and slowly climbing up.
Even trained individuals might not be adept at climbing trees.
But during her time at the welfare home, Baili Xia often went tree-climbing and playing with Zimo and the others.
Climbing now wasn’t too strenuous.
She used both hands and feet, and in less than a minute, she was standing on the branches above.
Baili Xia stretched her hand to pick all the reachable fruits and stuffed them into her pockets.
Soon, she picked over a dozen, filling her pockets to the brim.
Who would’ve thought such a harvest was possible in the deep mountainous forest?
If they could last until tomorrow, and Wu Ming regained some strength, they would promptly leave this place.
Baili Xia, satisfied, clapped her hands and steadied the branch to prepare to go down.
As soon as she stepped with one foot, suddenly, a rustling came from nearby, startling her, causing her to retract her foot.
The sounds came from not far away, just thirty to forty meters away.
In the moonlight, Baili Xia looked in that direction.
Upon seeing, she instantly broke out in a cold sweat.
Four men in black were advancing slowly.
The one at the front was clearly searching the ground.
It was them; they had come after all.
