Be Gentle, My Master
Chapter 2538
Wu Ming’s injuries were all for her.
He used his own body to shield her from bullets. Wu Ming truly would have given up his life for her.
Baili Xia’s hands began to tremble slightly, her heart being pierced with pain, again and again.
“Are you complaining that I’m not in enough pain?”
A hoarse voice from the bedhead drew Baili Xia back from her thoughts.
Baili Xia quickly snapped back to reality. While thinking of these things, the force in her hands had unconsciously intensified.
“I’m sorry, Wu Ming,” she quickly apologized.
Baili Xia dared not think much more, immediately proceeding carefully to disinfect his injuries.
She hoped that Wu Ming would not experience even the slightest extra pain.
The entire disinfection process took almost ten minutes to thoroughly clean the wound.
If the injured person were herself, Baili Xia feared she wouldn’t have the confidence to endure it.
Throughout these ten minutes, Baili Xia felt as if she could sense every second of pain.
Next was stitching. With such a large gap, a few stitches would be necessary to facilitate healing.
As Baili Xia picked up the needle, she quickly reminded him, “I’m going to stitch you up now.”
Wu Ming softly hummed again, a shallow sound yet so muffled.
Baili Xia could tell he was using willpower to suppress the pain.
“Bear with it, it’ll be over soon.”
She dared not delay any longer; the more she hesitated, the more it hurt.
Baili Xia held the needle and thread with her right hand, swiftly pierce the skin, stitching together the edges of the large gap.
In less than two minutes, over ten stitches were made, transforming the original gap into a short, twisted scar.
The wound appeared small, but the dozen fine lines on the surface revealed how horrifying the original wound had been.
Baili Xia let out a breath in secret; with this step done, the rest would be much easier.
She quickly sprinkled hemostatic powder on the wound and picked up a cotton swab to wrap it entirely.
Baili Xia’s actions were very skilled, completing everything within just a few minutes.
“All done.”
She exhaled heavily like a weight had finally been lifted.
Helping Wu Ming with bandaging seemed much more difficult.
But as she gazed at Wu Ming, he showed no reaction.
His breathing was deep but even, and within minutes, he’d fallen asleep.
On his calm face, there was pallor yet tranquility; he’d completely relaxed.
Baili Xia gently pulled at her lips, softly tucking in his blanket.
Originally planning to change his clothes, she decided that could wait.
He was tired; best to let him have a good sleep first.
The other things could wait until he woke up.
Baili Xia packed up the medicine box, preparing to leave.
Dr. Liang was still downstairs waiting to bandage her; she had already delayed too much time here.
Suddenly, a hurried and deep voice came from behind.
“Girl, don’t go! It’s dangerous!”
In the midst of sleep, Wu Ming suddenly called out, his large hands tightly clenching the bed.
Just as Baili Xia was about to leave, he was having a nightmare.
She hurriedly put down the medicine box and sat back at the bedside.
Her soft hands cupped his large hand, holding it within her palms.
“Wu Ming, I’m here. Just rest, don’t let your thoughts run wild.”
Suddenly, Baili Xia felt a heat emanating from his large hand.
Her heart tightened, and she quickly reached to touch Wu Ming’s forehead.
So hot…
She gasped slightly; she hadn’t expected Wu Ming’s fever had reached such a level.
No wonder he was speaking nonsense and having nightmares.
Just as she thought this, Wu Ming’s hoarse voice sounded again.
“Don’t be afraid, girl, come quickly… hide behind me…”
