The more Bei Zicheng thought about it, the more he felt his suggestion made sense.

“No matter what, I’m still her own grandson. I don’t think she’ll really do anything to me, and it’s still better than hiding here in constant fear.”

“Keeping on running away like this isn’t the best solution either.”

What’s more, from Bei Zicheng’s point of view, the mistake he’d made didn’t even seem that big.

Wasn’t it just tricking Bei Xier into going out? He hadn’t done anything to Bei Xier.

As for those assassins, or dealing with Baili Xia or whatever, that was all Nangong Yun’s business.

It didn’t have that much to do with him. Now Nangong Yun was out there living so carefree, while he had to hide like some fugitive. It was way too unfair!

“Yeah, I’ll go explain it to Grandma right now. I was just playing a prank, trying to bully Baili Xia a bit. I didn’t really do anything wrong.”

In contrast to his excitement, Nangong Yun actually looked somewhat uneasy.

“No way!” She rejected his plan outright without even thinking.

“Right now Grandma is furious. Even if we go, she won’t listen to a word we say.”

“Besides, you have no idea how serious things are now.”

“How serious? What huge mistake did I make, is it really that bad?” Bei Zicheng looked completely wronged.

“Those assassins, they’re convinced you’re the one who sent them. You tell me, how big of a mistake is that?”

Nangong Yun glared at him, looking troubled. “Right now they can’t wait to kill you!”

“But I wasn’t the one who sent those assassins. If they just investigate a bit, they’ll know that, won’t they?”

Bei Zicheng almost slammed the plate down. This was pure false accusation!

“I want to go home, I have to go back to Lingfeng Group. Grandpa will protect me!”

“In your situation, you think you can even walk out of the Bei Family? I’m afraid the moment you step out this door, you’ll be caught within ten seconds.”

To make him stay put obediently, Nangong Yun had no choice but to use her trump card.

“This time Bei Xier was seriously injured. Grandma feels so distressed she’s practically dying, and she’s already said that if they catch you, it’s kill on sight!”

“You’re talking nonsense! Grandma would never be that ruthless to me!”

Even though Bei Zicheng shouted like that, he still felt guilty and unsure inside.

He’d seen with his own eyes how much that damned old woman valued Bei Xier.

Bei Xier was seriously injured… God, how did he not know about this!

Why was Bei Xier seriously injured? He hadn’t heard a thing!

“You can go test it out yourself.” Nangong Yun put on an indifferent look, but in reality she was frantic.

If this damned Bei Zicheng went out and told Grandma that she’d been the one pulling the strings, she’d never be able to clear her name.

Of course Bei Zicheng didn’t dare step out lightly. What if those people really went crazy and hurt him?

“I advise you to just sit tight and wait. Once I see an opportunity, I’ll arrange for you to leave through the back mountain.”

“Then how long do I have to wait in this damned place?” Bei Zicheng was almost roaring.

“My master’s not around these few days. Just stay here in peace for a bit…”

“You want me to stay here for a few more days?” Nangong Yun hadn’t even finished when Bei Zicheng cut her off irritably.

“Two days, just give me two more days, okay?”

Bei Zicheng finally calmed down. Two days was long, but it was still better than going out and getting beaten to death.

“Relax, within two days I’ll definitely think of something and arrange for you to leave through the back mountain.”

“Once you’re back at Lingfeng Group, you’ll be safe.”

Nangong Yun looked at him, her gaze softening, her voice incomparably gentle.

“Once things settle down a bit, we’ll talk to Grandma and beg her to let us off.”
