Be Gentle, My Master
Chapter 507: Tell her she's not allowed to leave!_1
It was not until Mu Xiaoyao had walked a great distance, and his figure could no longer be seen, that Dongfang Jin finally took his eyes off him.
He lowered his eyes to look at Baili Xia, who was still kneeling on the ground, softly weeping.
Somewhere far away crying early in the morning, what on earth had happened?
Did it have something to do with Mu Xiaoyao?
He didn’t really know how he felt about Baili Xia.
There were many instances in his mind where she had tried to hurt him, but since he woke up that day, he found he could not bring himself to hate her.
Moreover, whenever he thought of the words she said to him before she left, his head was a mess and his heart felt irritable.
He stopped and kept staring at her.
Not until she had cried herself out, not until she had calmed down herself and dabbed her tears with her sleeves.
Then he pressed his lips together and asked in a soft voice, “Are you in trouble?”
That voice…
Baili Xia opened her eyes wide and suddenly looked up at him.
The sun was behind him and she couldn’t see his expression from her angle.
But this time, Baili Xia clearly felt that he didn’t bear any hostility towards her.
But, when did he come?
And how long had he been here?
Had he seen her crying here?
Baili Xia didn’t want Dongfang Jin to see her in such a pathetic state.
After hastily composing herself, she immediately stood up.
Perhaps it was because she had been kneeling for too long, her legs were numb when she stood up and she almost fell.
Dongfang Jin casually reached out to help her, but after helping her up, he instantly retracted his hand.
Looking at her red eyes, even dry of tears, he furrowed his brows.
“What’s wrong?
Maybe I can help if you tell me.”
“Are you willing to help me?” She looked surprised.
Hadn’t he been drugged by Lu Xuening, hypnotized, and convinced that she was the one who had hurt him?
The family head of the Dongfang family had personally told them that he had accused her of wanting to harm him.
But why now, as he looked at her, did his eyes not fill with resentment as they used to?
“I’m not sure why.” Seeing her confusion, the expression in Dongfang Jin’s eyes became complicated.
At this moment, facing Baili Xia, he found himself lacking the hatred he used to harbor.
Even he didn’t know what was going on in his mind recently.
“Do you want my help?” he asked again.
Baili Xia was taken aback for a moment, then quickly shook her head, trying to conjure up a smile.
“No, I’m fine, just a little out of sorts.”
Dongfang Jin moved his lips, wanting to ask something.
But, in the end, he didn’t ask anything and swallowed his words.
Looking into her ruby-red eyes, he felt a pang in his heart, inexplicably.
But he didn’t know whether he should continue to care for her.
The two stood there, in silence, not knowing what to do.
Occasionally a gust of wind blew, stirring the strands of Baili Xia’s hair that were damp with tears.
For a moment, Dongfang Jin had the impulse to gently tuck her hair behind her ears, to smooth away the sorrow furrowing her brows.
But he hadn’t forgotten those snippets, the fact that she was once intent on harming him.
“I need to go back to school.” Knowing he had nothing to say, and with no mood to make conversation, Baili Xia shifted on her feet.
She was in a terrible mood today, not a good day to be around him.
She forced a smile, nodded at him, and turned to leave.
Dongfang Jin watched her retreating figure, his hand clenched.
Suddenly, he really wanted to go after her, to hold her back, and tell her not to leave!
