Be Gentle, My Master
Chapter 705: Accustomed to Her Serving_1
As soon as the words had barely left his mouth, Ye Hua turned and walked away, gently but definitively closing the door behind him.
Baili Xia put her things on the coffee table.
When she turned around, Ye Hua had already vanished from sight.
She didn’t care, instead gazing at Mu Xiaojiu and pouting slightly.
“Refusing to eat because you’re upset? Are you acting like a child? It’s one thing if you aren’t eating, but it’s another to make Ye Hua worry about you.”
Mu Xiaojiu didn’t respond, his deep gaze fixed on her face.
Baili Xia suddenly remembered that her words may have been a bit audacious.
Yet his persistent gaze upon her brought her a touch of anxiety.
She tugged at her collar and gave off a nervous laugh.
“I’m hungry too, Uncle, let’s eat together. We will have more energy to read after eating.”
Mu Xiaojiu initially showed no interest in the late-night snack she prepared, but her comment about gaining reading energy after eating piqued his interest.
He got up and sat down next to her.
Baili Xia pulled a chair to sit beside him, immediately loading his bowl with porridge.
Mu Xiaojiu seemed to have gotten used to her care, even somewhat relishing it each time.
Once she had filled his bowl, he didn’t take it but simply watched her calmly.
Frustrated, Baili Xia thought she knew exactly what he wanted.
He could clearly feed himself though, couldn’t he?
He even required her to feed him porridge – was he really going to be this lazy?
Despite her grumbles, she didn’t dare to slack off.
She lifted the bowl, spooning the porridge to his lips.
Mr.
Xiaojiu sure was high-maintenance, letting her serve him without the slightest bit of embarrassment, just like royalty.
As for Baili Xia, she might as well be a palace maid at his side.
“I heard you went to Feixue to meet Lingchuan today,” he asked casually after finishing a bowl of porridge.
Baili Xia put the bowl down and glanced up at him, nodding.
Upon seeing the leftover stains on his lips, she hurriedly retrieved a tissue, meticulously wiping it for him.
“What did you do there?” Mu Xiaojiu asked again.
Baili Xia had anticipated this question and had already thought up an excuse.
But now, facing his gaze, she suddenly found herself forgetting the meticulously-prepared lie.
“I…” she hesitated before forcing a small smile.
“I just heard that… I heard that Feixue Media is massive and that it has a beautiful film and television city in the back.
I just went to have a look.”
“Have I ever told you what punishment you will receive for lying to me?”
There was not an ounce of emotion in Mu Xiaojiu’s eyes as he asked this, his gaze apathetic.
Yet, his indifference made Baili Xia’s heart race, even slowing down her movements as she cleaned his mouth.
She looked at Mu Xiaojiu with wide, innocent eyes.
“Uncle…”
Mu Xiaojiu ignored her and allowed her to continue speaking.
Baili Xia was still contemplating whether to play dumb or not.
Mu Xiaojiu, however, had made it clear: there would be severe punishment for lying to him.
She didn’t have the courage to speak out of turn in front of him.
In the end, she conceded.
“I…
I went to my big brother to ask him for a part-time job, playing some minor roles.”
“What roles?” Mu Xiaojiu casually picked up a cup and took a sip of red wine.
Baili Xia’s heart was in turmoil, should she evade the question or tell the entire truth?
This felt more like a gamble.
If Uncle just knew that she had been to Feixue Media and didn’t know the specifics, she could gloss over the truth.
However, if he knew everything and she didn’t tell the truth, the consequences would be unimaginable.
