Be Gentle, My Master

Chapter 837: Really Missing Him a Lot

  • Next Chapter

Baili Xia didn’t know what she was disappointed about, she just felt an aching sorrow so intense that she couldn’t calm down.

Outside, lightning streaked across the sky one bolt after another.

Baili Xia hugged herself even tighter, frightened by the lightning to the point of constant tension.

The wet clothes clinging to her skin felt damp and cold, and the temperature around her seemed to be dropping lower and lower.

So cold…

For who knows which time, she hugged herself tight, with only the sound of the relentless rain and the thunder reaching her ears.

With a boom, another thunderbolt flashed across the sky.

Baili Xia instinctively covered her ears until the thunder faded, and then she exhaled deeply.

Each time after the thunder roared, she felt as though she had narrowly escaped a calamity.

But she knew that the next clap of thunder would come again very soon.

Feeling utterly powerless, she let go of her ears and was about to hug her knees again when, the moment she took her hands away, she thought she heard someone calling her name.

Faintly, it seemed like someone was calling “little creature”…

“Little creature” – that was Uncle’s special nickname for her, but how could Uncle possibly come to look for her?

Even, find her here?

Was she delirious from eating too much or had she been scared silly by the lightning?

Even if Uncle had a bit of conscience and came out to look for her, it was impossible for him to actually find this place.

She herself didn’t even know where she was, so how could he find her?

Indeed, those two calls of “little creature” were just fleeting after the thunder.

Sure enough, it was only her imagination, tricked by the thunderous sounds.

After that, there were no sounds other than the rain.

But, Uncle…

did he really not come?

Even though she knew it was her imagination, she still felt a painful sting of disappointment.

She couldn’t deceive herself, at this moment, she really wished Uncle would come.

If Uncle really came looking for her, couldn’t they stop fighting?

Could they just clear up whatever he disliked about her and not fight anymore, please?

Fighting, even the silent kind, pains the heart so much.

Uncle, please don’t bully her anymore, and she wouldn’t deliberately irritate him either, okay?

Uncle, she truly missed him…

The bitterness of longing and the pain of panic made her nose tingle, and tears were about to slip down.

Uncle…

“Little creature, where are you? Answer me!”

Through the howling wind and pouring rain, suddenly, that familiar voice came faintly again.

Baili Xia couldn’t help but pull her lips into a painful smile.

See, Jin was right; she could fool everyone else, but not herself.

She missed him so much that her heart ached, so much that she could hear his calling even within the sound of the rain.

However, the calling grew louder and clearer.

And it seemed to be drawing closer…

Abruptly, Baili Xia stood up and rushed towards the cave entrance.

Fearless of the terrifying thunder and lightning and undeterred by the prospect of the rain soaking her clothes again.

She called out loudly towards the direction of the cave entrance, “Uncle, I’m here! I’m here, Uncle!”

She heard it, she really did!

It was not a hallucination, not a figment of her imagination.

Uncle’s calls were genuinely there, they were real!

“Uncle…”

Before the call ended, a blurry figure appeared in the midst of the storm.

He emerged from the rain, his tall frame drenched in the downpour.

Seeing him, those tears that she had been holding back, those that she had stubbornly refused to let fall…

Finally escaped, pattering down unrestrained.
