Be Gentle, My Master

Chapter 889: The Agonizing Look Almost Scared Him to Death

  • Next Chapter

Reluctantly, Baili Xia had to continue explaining, “I’ll come back later.

They have to work in the afternoon; can’t delay too long.”

Mu Xiaoyao looked at her again, then casually said, “Eat with me.”

He now…

didn’t like the feeling of eating alone, even though he had that feeling for many years.

When alone outside, always so solitary, facing the whole apartment alone, facing the dining table alone…

Although he had gotten used to it, saying he didn’t like it now, wasn’t that a bit over the top?

But, he really didn’t want to eat alone now; he inexplicably hoped there could be another person sitting at the dining table.

“But, I only made enough for you.”

Baili Xia was a bit troubled.

With just two dishes and a soup, how could it be enough for both of them?

“You can just sit with me holding your chopsticks, I didn’t ask you to really eat.” Mu Xiaoyao had already taken the bowl and chopsticks from her hand and started eating.

Baili Xia’s forehead was immediately covered in frown lines because of his words; asking someone to sit next to him, holding chopsticks while watching him eat, he really had the nerve.

Seeing that she hadn’t moved, Mu Xiaoyao glanced at her again, a hint of displeasure deepening in his eyes.

Baili Xia exhaled deeply, really wanting to roll her eyes at him.

“I’ll get some chopsticks.” To ensure she could leave smoothly later, she reluctantly swallowed that eye roll.

She walked into the kitchen, got a bowl and a pair of chopsticks, and sat down beside him; she wasn’t really just watching him eat, occasionally she would eat a bit too.

However, she was starting to be a bit dissatisfied with her own cooking skills.

Her culinary skills had declined, probably from not cooking for too long and becoming rust.

Every day she ate sumptuously at the Mu family’s home with so many servants around; there was absolutely no need for her to lift a finger, so it wasn’t strange that she was out of practice.

Mu Xiaoyao, however, didn’t think so, and while shoveling food into his mouth, he muttered vaguely, “Not bad.”

Then he ignored her and just concentrated on eating.

Two dishes and a soup, three bowls of white rice—he polished off everything cleanly, not even leaving the juice.

Baili Xia, sitting beside him, was almost dumbfounded.

Mr.

Mu, of all people, why did he eat like he was reborn from a starving ghost?

To put it bluntly, he looked like a beggar; was he usually this pitiful?

Was he really not getting enough food?

Perhaps even Mu Xiaoyao himself realized that his manner of eating was a bit off today.

Seeing her staring blankly at him, he put down his chopsticks and his face immediately turned stern, “What are you looking at?

Do you want to spend the whole day with me in the apartment?”

“No, I wasn’t looking at anything.

I, I’ll clean up.

I’ll do it now.”

Spend the whole day with him in the apartment?

How could that be possible?

Baili Xia didn’t want to think anymore and immediately stood up, ready to clean up the dishes.

But for some reason, just as she stood up, she suddenly felt a surge of nausea well up in her stomach.

She endured it for a moment, then another, but eventually couldn’t hold back anymore; her eyebrows furrowed, and she turned around and ran to the bathroom.

Her change in complexion didn’t escape Mu Xiaoyao’s notice, and as soon as she left, he immediately followed her.

The two entered the bathroom, where the girl immediately started retching against the toilet.

Mu Xiaoyao watched her in this state, his heart inexplicably panicked.

“What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell? Let me take you to the medical room.”

Baili Xia waved her hand, wanting to say something, but then another wave of nausea hit, making it impossible for her to even speak.

Finally, she opened her mouth, and continued to retch uncontrollably.

This distressing sight almost frightened Mu Xiaoyao out of his wits.
