Be Gentle, My Master

Chapter 950: If Things Could Be Like They Were Before

After placing a handful of pine nuts into her mouth, Baili Xia spread open the palm of her hand in front of Dongfang Jin.

Dongfang Jin continued to peel the pine nuts for her, placing the kernels one by one into her palm.

Looking at the pine nuts in her hand, from one or two, until they slowly accumulated to over a dozen, almost twenty, eventually forming a handful.

This time, Baili Xia didn’t rush to eat them but stared at the pile of pine nuts, feeling a sourness in her nose, as tears involuntarily slid down.

Dongfang Jin took a piece of napkin from the pack they bought in the supermarket earlier and carefully wiped away the tears that had fallen from the corners of her eyes.

Her lips pursed together, revealing a pale color, so sad, so lonely, and so heart-wrenching.

“If you wish to talk, I will definitely be the best listener. Even if you feel I can’t help, at least I can keep your secret after I hear it.”

He wiped her tears again and kept peeling the pine nuts for her, not forcing her to say anything to him.

But in his heart, he still hoped that she would confide in him.

Baili Xia looked at him, just looking in silence, her heart growing more and more sour, and increasingly in pain.

She really didn’t know who she could trust anymore, holding onto this secret alone, her heart ached and was frantic with worry.

Zimo and Xiaoxiao were her best friends, yet she couldn’t tell them; once she did, Zimo would surely go to Uncle.

Her eyes, dark as inkstones, blinked slightly, and two more tears slid down.

She hurriedly raised her hand to wipe away the tears, but Dongfang Jin was faster.

He handed over the tissue, and with a flick of his long fingers, the two drops of tears were already on the napkin, immediately soaking it.

“Don’t trust me anymore?” He looked at her face and sighed silently, “If you could trust me like you did back then, maybe, just maybe, we all wouldn’t be so miserable.”

Baili Xia opened her eyes wide, looking at him with tearful eyes.

Not so miserable…

what did that mean?

Dongfang Jin just smiled, opened a bag of potato chips, and after she put the pine nuts in her mouth, he took out a chip and brought it to her lips.

Baili Xia instinctively opened her mouth and bit down.

But the moment the chip was swallowed, she suddenly felt a wave of nausea.

Her heart tightened, and she grabbed the fabric over her chest, trying hard to hold back.

But the urge to retch was irresistible, and turning to one side, she started to retch on the grass.

However, it was still only a dry heave, and even though she had just eaten quite a bit, nothing came out.

Dongfang Jin grew completely anxious at the sight and quickly twisted open a bottle of mineral water, waiting for her to stop heaving, then brought it to her lips.

He urged, “Drink some water first, take a moment to recover.”

Without saying another word, Baili Xia took the water bottle and drank several gulps in one breath.

She only managed to suppress the impulse to vomit after a great deal of effort, and when she looked at Dongfang Jin again, she moved her lips slightly, and a faint blush drifted over her face.

“Jin, I…

I need to go to the restroom.”

Dongfang Jin quickly helped her up, but no sooner had she stood than Baili Xia immediately knitted her brows, and her face contorted, “My legs…”

“Are your legs numb?” he asked.

Who knew how long she had been sitting there, but since he had found her, she had been sitting there the whole time, at least for an hour.

It was normal for her legs to be numb after sitting for so long.

He didn’t say much, just lifted her horizontally and started walking towards the depths of the park.
