Be Gentle, My Master

Chapter 958: You Lied to Me for a Date

  • Next Chapter

Seeing Baili Xia in the hall, Mu Xiaoyao’s already cold face grew even more displeased.

He walked over to the sofa and, after greeting the old master and Mu Xiaojiu, his gaze shot straight to Baili Xia’s delicate face.

“You promised to return to school early and come home with me.”

“Brother…” Baili Xia quickly stood up again, blinking her gem-like eyes, “I’m so…

sorry, I played too late and…

I forgot about it.”

“You didn’t go to see that girl named Zimo or Xiaoxiao; they’ve been busy all day—one with Big Brother and the other still working overtime at the film set.”

Mu Xiaoyao pointed this out coldly, anger dancing in his eyes.

Baili Xia bit her lip and lowered her head in the manner of someone who knew they were at fault.

In fact, she couldn’t come up with any more apologies.

“Was it just to sneak out for a date with Dongfang Jin?”

“She’s tired, let her rest for a while,” Mu Xiaojiu interrupted Mu Xiaoyao, causing Mu Xiaoyao’s thick eyebrows to furrow slightly.

He glanced at Baili Xia one more time before suddenly turning to go upstairs.

He was actually really angry; he was so angry that he even forgot their grandfather was there.

To think that she would lie to his face just to meet with Dongfang Jin—he would have preferred her to remain silent.

To lie in front of him, what did that mean?

To meet another man, she had woven so many lies.

Were he and Uncle spoiling her too much?

Mu Xiaojiu’s icy gaze also fell upon Baili Xia.

Even without looking up, Baili Xia could feel the chill of his presence enveloping her.

Brother was angry, and Uncle was angry too.

They both thought she had sneaked out for a date with Jin, even turning off her phone to avoid being disturbed.

But her whereabouts today really couldn’t be revealed to anyone; she couldn’t let them know she had been to the hospital, let alone the tests she had undergone.

Fortunately, after Jin had seen the pregnancy test report and fearing others might see it too, she immediately tore it up.

With this thought, she finally heaved a heavy sigh of relief.

She looked up and her gaze accidentally crashed into Mu Xiaojiu’s fierce eyes.

She moved her lips, wanting to say something, yet not knowing what else she could say.

Thankfully, the old master tugged at her wrist again, asking her to sit down and play chess with him.

Even though she knew Uncle was still watching her, making her scalp tingle,

She had no choice but to pretend ignorance, sit down, and force a serious demeanor, watching the grandfather and Ning Anran play chess.

She hadn’t expected Ning Anran to have learned this type of chess—she didn’t seem to have seen her play before.

“Grandfather, I’m no good at chess; I’ve lost this game again.” Ning Anran’s gaze dared not wander, for fear she would uncontrollably steal glances at Mr.

Xiaojiu.

She could only try desperately to restrain herself, focusing all her attention on the chessboard.

But it was her use of the word “grandfather” that surprised Baili Xia, prompting her to take another glance.

As if sensing the gaze cast upon her, Ning Anran looked up and met Baili Xia’s eyes.

Suddenly, as if remembering something, she immediately started to explain anxiously.

“Xiaxia, don’t misunderstand, I call the old master ‘grandfather’ just because, just because…”

“She’s your friend, so I’ve let her call me grandfather as well; I really like this girl,” the old master said, looking at Baili Xia and fondly ruffling her long hair as he smiled and explained.

To him, this matter was completely trivial, and the smile in his eyes deepened as he looked at Ning Anran.

“Although you’re not good at chess, since you enjoy it, grandfather will teach you again. Come, let’s play another game.”
