Be Gentle, My Master

Chapter 980: Coming to See You

Perhaps she had become accustomed to this place, no longer as timid as she once was, so even when she was alone, she felt nothing out of the ordinary.

After assuming her stance, she started to practice again.

Tomorrow was the day of the second round of competition for the Eight Big Families, and tonight, Baili Xia needed to thoroughly review the boxing techniques Wu Ming had taught her.

She aimed to not disgrace the Mu family in tomorrow’s competition.

But she had only practiced half of the technique when she suddenly stopped.

A wave of nausea surged in her chest and quickly climbed up her throat, which she could no longer suppress, no matter how hard she tried.

Turning around, she ran to the base of a tree and immediately began to dry heave.

She didn’t know if it was because she had eaten too much for dinner, but this time she really started to vomit.

Not only did she completely throw up her dinner, but she also retched up several mouthfuls of bile.

When she finally managed to stop and wanted to find something to wipe her mouth with, suddenly, a pack of tissues was handed to her.

Baili Xia jumped in shock, looked up abruptly, and was almost terrified by the sight of the person.

Mu Xiaoyao said nothing, pulling a tissue from the pack and handing it to her.

After she wiped her mouth, he handed her an opened bottle of mineral water.

Baili Xia took it immediately, rinsed her mouth, and drank several gulps before the nauseating feeling was completely suppressed.

The two left the base of that tree and returned to the grassy area.

Baili Xia looked at Mu Xiaoyao for quite a while before she shook her head unconsciously.

“What does shaking your head mean?” Mu Xiaoyao asked indifferently.

“It’s nothing,” she said, lowering her eyelids, avoiding a direct answer.

She shook her head because she had realized that Brother was definitely not Wu Ming.

Coming to this place, she was certain that Wu Ming, who taught her martial arts every day, was definitely not her Brother.

Right now, she didn’t want to dwell on who exactly Wu Ming was; after all, he was like half a master to her.

Seeing Mu Xiaoyao staring at her, she felt inexplicably guilty and hastily forced a smile, asking, “Brother, what are you doing here so late?”

“I came to see you,” Mu Xiaoyao said without hiding his intent, his sharp gaze still locked on her face.

Under the dim moonlight, her small face looked somewhat pale, lacking her usual lively and rosy complexion.

Baili Xia bit her lip, his blunt words somehow left her at a loss for what to say.

Eventually, she quietly asked, “See me for what?”

“To see if there’s anything you need help with,” he finally shifted his gaze away from her face.

He walked to the side, sat down on the grass, and glanced at her once more.

“You shouldn’t participate in tomorrow’s competition.

I’ll tell them you’re not well and have it canceled for you.”

“Brother, I’m fine, why should it be canceled?” Baili Xia was startled, immediately walked over to him, and crouched down.

“Sit down,” he said softly, pulling her gently, not too softly or too sharply, but guiding her to slowly sit beside him.

He wanted to keep her by his side with such care and gentleness that his motions were indescribably tender…

Baili Xia looked up at him, feeling that something was off about Brother tonight, but she couldn’t quite point out what it was.

“What exactly do you want me for?

I just accidentally overate tonight.

I was practicing my punches earlier too fiercely and I ended up throwing up unintentionally.

It won’t affect tomorrow’s competition, there’s nothing wrong.”

Mu Xiaoyao looked at her, his voice calm, “Then if there were a little life inside your stomach, would it still not affect anything?”
