The sun gradually sank from the sky, letting the red sunset blanket the city of Dong-San. Before it got completely dark, Kei, Kai, and Kim Sora managed to return to the store.

The moment Kei opened the store door, before he could even see what was happening, his whole body was already tightly hugged by Kai standing beside him and lifted off the ground.

"Ah— Kai! Put me down now!"

Kei’s legs dangled in mid-air, his entire body squeezed tightly in the black dragon’s powerful arms. His face instantly flushed red from embarrassment.

Kim Sora, standing behind, had just reached the door and saw the scene, quickly covering her mouth with her hand, but giggles still slipped out.

"Lord Kai, at least let Kei get inside first."

"I’ve already carried him inside."

Kai replied with utter seriousness, then hugged Kei even tighter, as if afraid that the moment he loosened his grip, someone would snatch him away again.

"I mean let Kei walk in on his own two feet!"

"No need. I can bring him in."

Kei gritted his teeth and raised his hand, thumping it repeatedly against Kai’s hands that were tightly wrapped around his waist.

"Kai, I’m not a child! Put me down!"

"I know."

Kai looked down at him, his golden eyes glowing brightly.

"You’re my Kei!"

The completely irrelevant answer left Kei momentarily speechless, not knowing how to retort. While he was still stunned, Kai carried him straight into the store.

Kei knew this was his rebellious behavior because he had seen him being carried by Kang Ian earlier, so Kei couldn’t say much more to Kai. For now, he needed to soothe this dragon’s fragile heart.

Kim Sora closed the door and quickly hurried into the kitchen.

"Alright, you two just talk. I’ll go cook, or else Lord Kai will complain about being hungry later."

"I don’t just want dinner..."

Kai carried Kei over to the sofa, then sat down and placed him on his lap. His arms immediately wrapped around Kei’s waist, locking him in place, resting his chin on Kei’s shoulder and grumbling.

"I also want to hold Kei. If I don’t hold him, someone else will snatch him away. How annoying!"

Kei sighed.

"You can hold me, but first you need to put me down from your lap..."

"No."

"Kai."

"No."

Kei looked down at the arms wrapped tightly around his stomach, then glanced at Kai’s serious face. He tried to shift forward, but Kai immediately pulled him back, his chin resting on his shoulder like a large beast guarding its territory.

"You just destroyed the newly built headquarters of the Crying Ghost Guild, and now you’re planning to destroy my sofa too?"

Kai shook his head and answered obediently.

"Don’t worry, Kei. This sofa is very sturdy."

"That’s not the point!"

Kai didn’t reply anymore. After a moment of silence, the arms around Kei’s waist suddenly tightened, making him instinctively take a deep breath.

"Kei..."

His voice lowered, no longer carrying the smugness from when they left the ruins.

"I’m so tired, Kei..."

Kei froze, his voice trembling slightly.

"Are you hurt somewhere?"

He was worried that in the earlier fight with Kang Ian, Kai might have been injured somewhere he couldn’t see. Even though Kang Ian acted like he didn’t want to truly harm Kai, who knew what could happen during a battle.

"It’s not because of that human from earlier." Kai shook his head, his black hair brushing lightly against Kei’s cheek. "But I was fighting in an SS-rank Dungeon in the protected zone for several days straight."

Kei turned his head slightly.

"Several days straight?"

"Yeah. There were so many monsters there. I had to defeat all of them, then fight the Boss too, an annoying dry skeleton."

Kai recounted in a flat tone, but his hand resting on Kei’s waist unconsciously gripped the hem of his shirt.

Kei lowered his eyes thoughtfully. Skeleton monsters were probably of the undead type, they could cast summoning spells to call minions and had strong survivability. Kai and the Black Dragon Guild must have had a rough time.

"After finishing, I immediately rushed to Dong-San City to find you."

Kai said enthusiastically.

Kei stayed silent.

He knew Kai was the head of the Black Dragon Guild and one of the strongest hunters in the country. A man like him certainly never lacked things to do.Yet right after finishing the battle in the Dungeon, Kai didn’t rest at all, nor did he return to the Guild headquarters, but immediately came to this place.

It made Kei’s heart feel heavy, her black dragon, whether long ago or now, was still the same, unchanged in the slightest.

"You could have rested first before coming to find me."

Kei said with a helpless smile.

"I can’t. I won’t stop until I get to see Kei!"

Kai answered without a moment’s hesitation.

"If I rested, by the time I woke up, Kei might already be in another man’s arms again. I would be so... so angry!"

Angry enough to go insane, wanting to destroy an entire city!

Of course, Kai’s foolish head knew full well that he shouldn’t honestly say these things out loud, he’d end up being hated by Kei.

Kei immediately thought of Kang Ian. This dragon was complaining about how she had been held in Kang Ian’s arms just a moment ago.

"Kang Ian was just sleeping on my lap."

"That’s exactly the problem!"

Kai lifted his head, his expression pained.

"Why can he lie contentedly in your arms, while I have to fight in the Dungeon for days on end just to get to see you?"

"That’s not the same thing."

Kei was truly at a loss for words, it was obvious Kai was just looking for an excuse to pick a fight!

"What’s not the same about it?"

Kai’s eyes had already turned red, making Kei quickly stroke his face to soothe him.

"He just fell asleep. I didn’t mean to let him lie like that."

"But you still let him lie there."

Kai lowered his head, his voice gradually choking.

"I’m so tired, Kei."

Kei suddenly couldn’t say anything more.

"I kept thinking that after I got here, you’d happily run over to welcome me. But when I arrived, I had to see you in someone else’s arms..."

Kai paused.

His eye rims grew even redder, and then a tear spilled from the corner of his eye. Before Kei could even fully turn around, a large teardrop had already fallen onto Kai’s cheek.

Plop.

The hot teardrop slid down his oat-colored skin, then fell straight into Kei’s hearth.
