Chapter 333: The Devil’s Death

As time went by, Yin could feel his strength turning low. He could not hold on any longer. Yet even so, he did not slow down or show any weakness to the grim reapers. He continues to use every ounce of power that he has even though it feels like burning him alive. This is just some power that he could only forcefully exert from his body because of the restriction.

He could not stop anyway, no matter how he wanted or how much he suffered.

He knew his choice. It will never be him.

Since it is, then he will destroy everything.

He will destroy the world so he could no longer choose them.

So they could no longer deceive you. I will cut any possibilities of hurting you again. Even if you will not choose me.

A grim reaper uses a golden chain in an attempt to tie him but he quickly dodge the attack while also swiftly spreading his dark energy. He didn’t care who got his attacks and was attacking in all directions to cut any side from them.

He felt a presence near him so he didn’t hesitate to use his claws again and was about to thrust his claws when he caught the sight of a familiar face.

It was a junior grim reaper that he knew, No. 88.

She was the grim reaper that they once met. A junior full of brightness and energy to serve the world while enjoying the little life she’s just starting.

Her face made him suddenly remember that time and also made him hesitate so when his claws were about to near her, he intended to take his claws back yet in the next second, he felt a sharp pain directly thrusting on his chest instead.

He stilled. Someone stabbed him from the back right straight on his chest.

He wanted to turn around and attack but a familiar presence stood behind him.

"Ah Yin,"

"...."

His body went frozen. His claws went back to his normal fingers and at the same time, he felt the indescribable pain on his chest. His knees weakened and he didn’t stop himself from falling anymore.

An arm caught him and it was the familiar pair of arms that has always been with him, yet he could no longer feel any warmth.

How so?

It was him.

It was Ah Si himself who did it.

He slowly turned his head and met the man’s eyes. He opens his lips and starts to cough blood, releasing all the pain and weaknesses that he has. All of the sudden, exhaustion enveloped his whole body, as if all the strength disappeared.

Even so, he no longer forces himself. He’s letting himself lose.

....

"Ah Yin," he softly called his name again. "S-Sorry..."

The corner of the man’s lips curled up bitterly and he didn’t respond— that was his answer.

"I-I’m sorry..." These were the only words that he could only repeatedly say. Even if the devil in his arms didn’t respond, he knew how this betrayal also hurt him.

That’s right. He finally chose— and he did not choose the devil.

The two kneeled on the ground and no longer cared about everything around them. He was wrapping his arms around Yin but his fingers were still trembling. He could still feel how he moved himself from the devil’s back and stabbed him using the sword that he cherished the most in the man’s chest— the place where he always chose to close.

It was the chest where he first felt that heartbeat and has always been the place where he could feel the man’s warmth for him.

For him, feeling Yin’s heartbeats is not just for himself but also like telling him that even a devil himself has a heart.

A heart that’s capable of feeling and getting hurt.

How much he treasured it, it was still him who destroyed it.

He took a deep breath and carefully put his hand on the man’s face and carefully caressed it. His fingers were stained by the blood on Yin’s lips and stared at his eyes.

"He Li..." he whispered the name that he gave.

"Why?" The man’s soft words made him pause. "Ah Si... y-you’re always choosing them."

"...." He has no words to say. Only how the corner of his eyes warmed and reddened answered.

"Qin An..." Only that name was the last thing that the man left before finally closing his eyes and all the strength on his body disappeared.

"...." He put his hand at the back of the man’s nape and slowly pulled his head to rest on his neck. He could no longer feel any breathing or sense any movement.

His body trembles but he firmly holds the man in his arms. While still cradling him, his other hand went instinctively towards his chest. He wanted to feel Yin’s heartbeats but a stinging pain on his finger awakened him.

It was his sword. It was the tip of the sword that he did to end the devil’s life.

"A-Ah Yin..." He softly called but he will never respond again.

The farce around him had long stopped and he no longer cares. He didn’t even know if this mission would succeed but he no longer had a will to listen and see.

He finally put an end to himself. This was his choice and he knew that this is the best yet why does his heart feel so much pain? Did he regret this choice?

He didn’t know. He couldn’t even understand why he’s feeling this way. This is more painful when he was betrayed by the souls he trusted. The stab was deeper and the excoriating pain was something that he couldn’t put words into.

Why is he hurting like this? Why is his death hurts him so much?

He lowered his head and buried his face on the top of the man’s hair. A devil nor his body is not warm. They are cold yet he felt that the coldness on the man’s body was like slowly freezing, turning into an ice where its coldness penetrates on his.

"Ah Yin..." He called for the devil’s name again near his ear but there was nothing.

He heard a commotion around and a call for his name but he didn’t respond.

Instead, a huge magic circle appeared under him and he disappeared with Yin on the spot.
