Chapter 334: A Wish Of A Grim Reaper

Inside the huge hall of judgement, he appeared with the same position as earlier. He embraces the devil and raises his head.

"Your Majesty." His voice went back to the way it used to be, full of coldness and emptiness. He saw the silhouette on his throne so he no longer wasted any second to state his purpose.

"Your Majesty, please fulfill my wish."

"No. 444, your merits aren’t enough." But the latter’s answer was like a cold water splashed on him. His grip tightened.

"But you can find a way." He insisted.

The Judge didn’t respond but instead stood from his throne and walked, allowing him to completely see his appearance in the light. The Judge stood with intimidation and majesty. Those eyes glance at them without any trace of emotions in his eyes. No pity or anything that seems worth it for him to look at.

"He’s dead." Even his words were for consideration.

He clenched his jaw. "Bring him back!" he demanded.

The man shook his head. "Death can no longer be brought back to life. You should know that."

"...."

He pursed his lips. He lowered his eyes and stared at the devil’s body on his arms. The scenes earlier were still vivid, especially the last moment when Yin’s eyes landed on him and called for his name.

The memories they spent together flashed on his mind. The days when they guided souls and the nights when they rested and he would always put his hand on his chest to feel his heartbeat even though he already had his own.

It was not his own heartbeat that he wanted to hear, it’s his. Unfortunately, this realization seems too late for him.

He wanted to feel his heart beating again. He wanted to see him alive again.

In the past, someone’s death was never important to him. For him who always faces death, a life is never worth mentioning because he believes that everyone will die anyway so there’s no point. Even if he watched countless deaths whether it is his colleagues or the souls all over the world, no one’s death can move him.

His face remained calm and he felt nothing.

Now he realizes why.

It’s because they were never important. Their presence meant nothing so even their death was the same. They are not Yin who stays by his side everyday. They are not the ones who accompanied him and went all over the world to stay while he did his responsibilities. They are not him who always listened and patiently answered his questions.

They’re not the devil— his devil.

Since everything was his fault, then he will pay.

His eyes became determined and firm. He looked at the Judge again and spoke.

"Use my life." His words echoed inside the hall. "Use everything in me to give him a new life."

There was a defeating silence after that. The Judge didn’t expect the words but he also did not leave any refusal.

"Your Majesty, give him a life... as a human."

However his next words surprised the latter. "A human?"

He nodded. "A human... where he has a life and a heart to experience everything."

Not a devil where he’ll live with darkness and death again. Not a world where there’s no joy and warmth to enjoy and treasures.

He Li— he chose that name for some reason. He hopes that Yin’s life will no longer be full of misery and pain. He hopes that the man would experience a life where he can also see the beauty of the world like how he realized it over time.

He for peace and Li for dawn— a new beginning with a bright future.

He also hopes that in that life, he will be surrounded with an emotion that he learned to feel— love. A heart not just for beating or to have an ability to feel but rather something that could give him the will to continue living for a long time.

"... Very well." The Judge raised his hand to first remove the restriction on Yin’s body. Afterwards, he could feel a sudden force inside his body suddenly gathering his strength slowly. Golden mist starts spreading out from his own body.

It was his strength and merit— his life.

He tightened his embrace and saw his sword also begin shattering into golden dusk until nothing piece was left. His eyes remained calm and instead lowered Yin’s body so it could lay on the floor while his upper body was still on him.

When he felt his body weakened and he could no longer hold him, he carefully put down the man and put his head on the man’s chest. It was full of blood but he didn’t care.

There was no sound. It was empty.

He slowly raised his hand and put it in his own chest. Even the beating of his heart is weak and any seconds from now, it will also stop beating forever.

Ah Yin, live for me.

"It’s time." The Judge announced after completely pulling out everything on him. He didn’t move.

A large gold magic circle appears and a wave of runes like chains floated. It begins to encircle Yin’s body and everything that he has transferred on the man.

"Farewell..." Those were the last words left on his lips and watched the man finally disappear. The hall went into darkness again and this time, it was him laying on the cold floor.

He stared at the dark ceiling. His eyelids turned heavy and he knew that it was also his time to end.

So this is death?

Is this how humans feel when they feel their life’s going away?

A soft smile appears on his lips before he closes his eyes. He felt something flow from his eyes and for the first time, a lone tear escaped from his eyes.

For the first time, a grim reaper shed a tear.

Yet it is also the last time.
