Chapter 342: Current Situation

It’s been almost a month of waiting and the trainees remaining in the competition continued to practice again and again while waiting. As each day passed without any news of him, Shen Lou and others’ only felt calm. They do not feel any anxiety because they believe that Qin An will be back. They trust him to fulfill his dream.

They knew the young man wanted the stage too, like them. Thus while waiting, they would also do their best to showcase everything they got and be the proudest on the stage.

Meanwhile it’s not only them who’s waiting for his return but everyone outside. Ever since they learned about Qin An’s spiritual ability, they had been praying and hoping nonstop for his return. He is the first person who had the ability to end the plague that has been with them for so many years. He is their only hope and this mission. They could not afford to lose him nor the ginkgo tree.

For the whole time within a month of waiting, the competition had been the most highlight in the Starnet. Everyday countless people are posting messages for Qin An’s comeback. They are also watching the episodes again and again and their liking for him just keeps on rising. Other than his identity, they really want him to debut too. He’s very hard working and they’ve seen his constant progress especially in terms of his personal growth.

They like how he learned to love the stage and became friends with everyone inside the competition.

However amidst everyone’s eagerness, news from the border also became frequent. Headlines about the zergs that started emerging near the planets became more often that the soldiers needed to do nonstop missions to fight against it. This news made the atmosphere in the Federation grow solemn and gloomy. Everyone could feel that there seems to be something that will come at any moment.

It was a premonition that pushed them on the edge, thus resulting in frequent mental breakdown and riots of those who are vulnerables. Mental pollution is connected to someone’s well-being and staying anxious and stress would increase the rate and riots all over the place. It’s not just they are deeply worried about Qin An and Marshal’s mission but also about the attack. Therefore the situation all over the place is actually not overall good.

....

Inside the private laboratory where the ancient peach blossom tree was, the higher-ups were in the conference room to discuss the current situation. Everyone was there— the He family, the president of Federation Xia Qianchen, Professor Jian and others that were both involved in military and research teams.

"The situation at the border is getting dangerous. The number of soldiers getting dispatched on every nook of the federation is getting bigger." He Zhen, He Li’s father, was speaking in his deep voice. Everyone wore a solemn expression.

"If this continues, the possibility of another zerg attack here in the Capital increases. Dispatching the teams and scattering them would surely disrupt the protection formation. If we didn’t know that zergs don’t have high-intelligence like humans, it looks like they are really planning to scatter us everywhere deliberately." The expression on his face is very ugly. The frequent alert from the borders increased everyday and they had no choice but to send a team immediately, resulting in the team staying in their designated station to withdraw and help. This is very dangerous because they won’t know if they will also target the location they were.

But as he said, zergs don’t have human-like intelligence. Even if there are higher levels, they don’t have enough awareness to create that plan. Unless there’s something hidden that they don’t know.

Professor Jian pushes up his glasses. "There’s more." He pushed the documents that had just been sent to the office. "The pollution detected around many places has also increased especially around the area that zergs attacked. The people around had been affected."

Xia Qianchen’s brow furrowed. "What’s going on? What’s with this attack?!"

"What about Ah Li’s situation? Do you have news?" Hou Nian asked in anxiety for her son outside.

"We received the distress signal five days ago and we already sent a team for them. As of now, there’s still no news about them." He Zhen answered.

"What about the research for the medicine? Did the batch for inhibitors increase? We need it for our people."

Professor Song responded. "We already sent many to the teams and the new batches are still here. However, the ancient peach blossom’s situation is also not going well. Qin An has already said that it’s withering for a long time. If this continues, the inhibitors might be interrupted."

Xia Qianchen’s face turned uglier. "That’s even worse! Medicine is far more important to keep us alive!"

"As per Qin An’s instruction, we put Nan Xing near the tree. According to her, she doesn’t feel much connection to the tree because it’s dying. Only the ginkgo tree can awaken her."

But the ginkgo tree is still not here!

"Is there any more?!" Xia Qianchen asked tiredly. He was already exhausted by the constant bad news and felt like he’s aging faster!

"...." The office turned extremely silent as they understood his tone. They were also getting exhausted from the continuous news and felt a panic arising inside their heart.

Everyone could feel that there’s still something that will happen and the premonition inside their hearts only grew larger when the door of the conference room abruptly opened and a soldier was seen being anxious and panting hard.

"What happened?!" Xia Qianchen stood up in worry.

"P-President, Marshals! T-They’re here!"

"Who?!"

"L-Liutenant Ji Wen and others."

"!!!"

Everyone stood up in surprise but at the same time, there was joy in their faces.

"Let’s go!" They did not hesitate anymore and quickly went out and strode towards the special area that they specifically assigned to the spaceship to land.

"Liutenant Su!" Xia Qianchen was really happy when they saw the soldiers landing and as they wanted to ask about the mission, they also notice strange on their expression.

Hou Nian immediately sensed something was wrong and quickly went forward to ask.

"J-Ji Wen, where’s A’Li and Anan?" She asked in a hurry. Did they stay inside the spaceship to take care of the ginkgo tree?

That was what she thought yet in the next second, only silence answered them. This also made others finally notice something.

He Zhen frowned. "Where are they?"

"The situation on that planet was very dangerous." Ji Wen finally found his words and told them what happened. "There were spirits and we could not do anything to fight with them. Qin An fought for us and let Zhi Anming protect us."

Zhi Anming steps forward with an obvious exhaustion and weakness on his face. "Senior went back to recover his power and identity. He also went to ask for help from our colleagues—"

"Where’s A’Li?" Hou Nian couldn’t help but cut him off and ask for her son.

"Mrs. He, something happened to the Marshal and we didn’t know where he was."

"!!!" Everyone was stumped in shock and bewilderment. The Marshal himself disappeared and went into danger?!

"H-How is that possible?!"

Zhi Anming went silent and still chose to tell everyone the truth.

"I’m sorry but right now, it’s him that will be our greatest enemy."

How ironic that the man who always protected the Federation will now become the one that wanted to destroy them the most.
