Blood was scattered as the two slipped on the floor while still holding each other tightly.

A few comrades quickly flew towards them in an attempt to mend their wounds but just as they went close, a golden magic formation appeared under them and it formed a semicircle that covered the two.

Qin An raised his eyes and shook softly at everyone.

There is no need to save them.

“You chose them.” A hoarse voice sounded close to him. He paused for a second before leaning his head away, slightly wincing at the pain from the stab on his body.

“You want to choose them too.” He pointed it out. “Ah Yin, you’re asking me why I would choose them, aren’t we the same?”

He chuckled and met the man’s eyes. “You cherish them too.”

Even if his mind was clouded with rage, the way his eyes would subconsciously darted towards those familiar people was laced with worry and apology.

Even with those questions he asked earlier, he knew that the man fully understood why. Because just like how he learned to become a human, he too ran the same.

They grew a heart that was filled with an emotion that connects them to the people around them. Making them feel worried and felt that even their life was worth sacrificing as long as they can protect them.

“Ah Yin, you are not just a devil.” His eyes flashed with tenderness. “You are a human that chose to protect them too.”

Just like he is.

When he sent him as a human for his next life, he wanted him to experience the beautiful emotions he felt. It was something filled with warmth and a peace that he had been longing for. It completely filled the emptiness inside him.

He was complete.

And so was He Li.

How could he miss those heartaches in his eyes when he looked at the people he cared about in danger?

“Also,” He raised his hand and wiped the blood on the man’s neck. “Who says that it’s just them that I chose? I also chose you.”

“With so many years you’ve waited for me, how can I leave you behind?”

That past when he was filled with regrets when he killed him personally wounded his heart. He could not forget those eyes that stare at him with disbelief and disappointment.

“What do you mean?” Hearing those words made the latter alerted. “You are a grim reaper now. You’ll heal faster like always.”

He smirks. “Who says I am?”

“!!!” He Li’s eyes widened in disbelief and his pale complexion grew weary and anxious even more. Only did the latter finally realize that his body looks weak and trembling.

“Y-You!”

He only remembered those forgotten memories and brought back his strength but he did not choose to completely turn himself. He Li’s body is a human even though his soul was awakened. All the dark energy made his body grow weaker and it could not withstand it. Qin An knew that so he did the same. With this human body, how could it also withstand the immense strength of a grim reaper?

Tonight, he decided to kill the devil— and so is himself.

Qin An didn’t care and raised his hand again to place it on the man’s chest. Just like how he always did, feeling the beating of his heart.

He smiled. Even their hearts beat the same.

“He Li,” he calls the same that he gave. “There’s no need to put any hatred in it.” He tilted his head. “Let’s choose each other now, okay? I promise you.”

Those eyes were stunned before the man abruptly pulled him in a tight embrace. He put his chin on the man’s shoulder again and winced in pain. He did not care about the blood that flows from his mouth and only felt the warmth of his embrace.

Back then, this embrace was cold due to their natural bodies, now even for at this time, he could finally feel it.

“Okay,” He Li whispers in his ear. “Ah Si, let’s choose each other.”

He only smiles in return and finally closes his eyes, letting himself drown in an eternal darkness.

Inside the magic formation, golden runes floated and covered the body of the two. Slowly, they disappear like a sand that was blown away by the wind, softly passing in this life.

After those final lyrics ended and the performance finally ended, loud cheers echoed around the small stadium. It was filled with people, be it young and old, and they were cheering enthusiastically to the idol on stage.

“Si!”

They start chanting his name nonstop to express their admiration and happiness for the young man.

The young man also heard them and flashed a gentle smile on his lips. He raises his hand to wave before slowly backing out as a goodbye to end this small event.

Even when he was no longer on stage, the calls remained. The young man’s assistant quickly went to him, bringing him his tumbler with a smile.

“Brother Si, your performance is still very good! It’s super amazing!”

He nodded. “Thank you.” He took a sip to moisten his throat. “Do I still have any work to do?”

The latter shook his head. “No. Do you want to go home and rest now?’

“Yes.”

“Okay. Then please wait a bit, Brother Si. I will just pick up our things.”

While his assistant was away, the young man sat on his exclusive chair and removed the lapel mic and his body. He placed it on the table and leaned his back before taking a deep breath.

He’s been an idol for years but he never grew tired and bored. It was as if being on stage was carved on his bones that he could not let go of it. His whole heart was already tied to this dream and he knew that this is truly where he belongs.

Ten minutes had passed and his assistant finally picked the things away and sent it to the nanny car first before fetching him from the room. They bid goodbye to the staff and left the stadium secretly and quickly drove away.

While driving towards home, his assistant finally relaxes and starts chattering again.

“Brother Si, did Brother Yin prepare another feast for you again? He’s been doing this ever after your small concert to reward you for your hard work.” The youth’s eyes were filled with gossip.

The young man chuckles. “You already knew yet you are still asking. Don’t worry, I will keep some for you.”

The youth finally laugh. “Hehe, Brother Si, it’s just that his cooking always tastes good so I was also greedy. Thank you, Brother Si!”

The trip went smoothly and they arrived at the destination. His assistant didn’t leave the car and only let the young man leave with his personal things before he drove away.

Meanwhile, the youth arrive inside the condominium and instantly smell the scent of the familiar savory and sweet aroma of his favorite food.

It instantly brought him in a lighter mood and he quickly went inside. He also saw a man with its back on him. The latter was sitting on a couch with a laptop on his lap, tapping constantly at a fast pace.

He knew that the man was in deep concentration on his work as a writer so he didn’t bother disturbing and just went to the kitchen to fetch a drink.

He took two sodas and went outside while opening them. His eyes landed on the busy man again and took a sip on his drink. He smirks a little.

Taking advantage, he sneaked in behind and was about to put the soda on the man’s cheek when the latter was fast enough to raise his arm and caught the soda himself.

“You’re back.”

He clucked his tongue. “Yeah.” He leaned a bit and read the passage of the novel on the screen.

“Ah Yin, why are your characters always soldiers? What, if you really want to be in the military, I think you can do it.”

The man chuckles. “Just like how you always want to be on stage?”

He shrugged and leaned his body on the couch. “Of course. The stage is a home for me.”

“Hm.”

The man went back to typing again while he stayed silent beside him and drinking his soda. This harmonious atmosphere stays even after eating their dinner and washing the dishes. Afterwards, they wore a mask and a cap before leaving.

It’s already a night routine for them to walk outside to relax.

The young man wanted to ask something when someone bumped his shoulder a bit as they were passing through a turning point.

“Sorry.” He heard an apology so he subconsciously looked and met a pair of fox-like eyes of a youth. They both nodded casually and the latter quickly left so he threw that at the back of his mind.

As they left while chatting in a low voice, he did not notice that the youth stopped a distance away and turned his back.

The latter stared at the two people walking side by side as they gradually left his sight before he let out a soft laugh. In the next second, a blue magic formation appeared under his feet and he disappeared on the spot, leaving words he uttered.

“Farewell, reaper.”
