Chapter 728: SFDI: Chapter 728

Although Zeref’s burst of death power was directly defeated by Drake, his curse still remained.

Therefore, even though he was engulfed by Drake’s flames and fell to the ground, he only temporarily lost his ability to move and would fully recover with a little time.

Turning around, Zeref looked at Drake, who was approaching, and said, "Give me the final blow! If it’s you, you should be able to do it."

Drake took a dagger from his ring and casually tossed it beside Zeref, saying, "This is a magical tool specifically designed to break curses. Whether you choose to fight fate again is up to you!"

The dagger Drake threw was a magical tool created by collecting the power of the Demon King from the Seven Deadly Sins world.

It was originally made to guard against curses that might be summoned after Igneel’s revival, but it hadn’t been used then.

However, the effectiveness of the magical tool had been verified. Mavis’s curse was severed by Drake using this dagger during her revival.

If Zeref still had the courage to pick up this dagger, it would prove he had at least the motivation to emerge from his shadow.

As for Drake, he now had to deal with a more troublesome opponent.

Although Drake’s heavy kick had genuinely landed on Ignia’s head earlier, to say that single blow defeated Ignia would be underestimating the Fire Dragon God.

As expected, as soon as Drake turned around, he saw Ignia ascending into the sky again.

Without a word, Drake also spread his wings and flew up, facing Ignia.

Ignia looked at Drake and said, "It’s just the two of us now. That last blow gave me quite a bit of trouble, so I’ll have to repay you properly!"

Ignia was even more unsportsmanlike than Drake had imagined. Before his words had even fallen, and without waiting for Drake’s reply, he spewed a torrent of flames.

Fortunately, Drake had been monitoring the magic flow around Ignia and reacted immediately upon detecting an anomaly.

"Fire Dragon Emperor’s Roar!"

Dragons were top-tier magical creatures, naturally possessing various magics. However, Roar was the simplest, most direct, and most representative magic of a dragon’s power.

Now, Drake and Ignia demonstrated this point.

Two streams of fire surged towards each other like rampaging trains, colliding in mid-air in the blink of an eye.

The differently colored flames churned together yet remained distinct, creating a terrifying elemental shockwave.

But Drake and Ignia remained unmoved. Instead, they simultaneously increased their magic output, intensifying the conflict.

And when the magic power reached its limit, it naturally exploded.

In that instant, a significant portion of Guiltina witnessed the spectacle of a sun falling from the sky.

At the core of the explosion, the scene had naturally turned into hell.

The sky was stained blood-red by the magic turbulence, the ground was scorched black, and vast, scar-like cracks covered it.

Drake rose from his kneeling position and looked at Ignia, who was also getting back up in the distance.

Both Drake and Ignia, in their dragon forms, possessed dragon scales capable of dissolving flames. However, the explosion had left both of them with considerable injuries, demonstrating its terrifying destructive power.

Drake grinned. It had been a long time since he had been injured by the power of a beam struggle. Indeed, Ignia was a difficult opponent.

Ignia, whose physique was larger, had sustained more severe injuries than Drake, but the vertical pupils in his eyes shone even brighter.

As their gazes met, words became unnecessary. The man and the dragon simultaneously became blurs of motion.

Ignia swiped with a claw, and flames instantly erupted around him, turning the very air into fuel and igniting the surroundings.

Drake tore through the sea of flames and punched Ignia’s palm, sending Ignia’s massive body arching backward.

Seeing flames flicker from Ignia’s fang-filled mouth, Drake flew up and headbutted Ignia’s chin.

Ignia’s head was uncontrollably thrown back, and the flames about to erupt turned into black smoke, emerging from his slightly parted mouth.

Before Drake could pursue, a black shadow swept towards him, striking his side directly. The force was not light, causing Drake’s body to bend and send him flying like a cannonball.

It was Ignia’s tail, which had unexpectedly delivered a heavy blow to Drake’s side.

Drake, crashing into the ground, ignored the dull pain in his side and used his dragon wings to propel himself into the air, dodging Ignia, who was descending like a meteorite.

In mid-air, Drake saw Ignia charge at him head-on. He clenched his fists and swung them down.

Flames mixed with black-red lightning erupted, and a shockwave spread outwards. As Drake flew higher, Ignia’s head crashed down.

While tumbling in the air, white mist emerged from the gaps between the scales on Drake’s arms, and his swollen arm returned to normal.

Ignia, however, appeared even more disheveled, with cracked scales on his head, and dragon blood dripping onto the ground, leaving smoking trails.

Ignia roared. The injuries and bleeding did not affect his formidable magic; instead, his flames burned even hotter.

Ignia couldn’t help but recall their first meeting.

Ignia had naturally known about Drake and Natsu for a long time.

Of course, as a "normal" dragon, he wouldn’t have emotions like jealousy over his father’s love for the two. However, he also knew that there were two people in this world who were special to him.

And just a few years ago, he had sensed a magic power in Guiltina that was similar yet different from his own.

So, Drake’s guess was correct. It wasn’t that Drake had found Ignia then; it was Ignia who had found him. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have encountered Ignia in the very first place Drake had searched.

Although Ignia didn’t know what Drake was trying to do, they began to fight afterward.

As Ignia had expected, even though Drake was already powerful among human mages at that time, he was still far from Ignia’s level.

Even though he was suppressed by the Great Labyrinth of Dogramag, Ignia had held back considerably in that battle. What Ignia hadn’t expected was that Drake’s intention was to steal his power.

Ignia had allowed this, wanting to see how far Drake could go and perhaps gain some unexpected surprises.

As expected, the next news he received was that Drake had defeated Acnologia. This made him even more eager for their reunion.

And Drake hadn’t disappointed him. By the time they met again, he had already displayed the strength to be his opponent.

Therefore, at this moment, any plans about creating a world of dragons had been cast aside. All he wanted now was to enjoy the battle before him.

And within Drake’s perception, Ignia’s aura had become incredibly pure, as if all impurities had been removed.

Drake was absolutely certain that Ignia had now reached an extreme in some aspect, a level of extremity that might be even more terrifying than sheer magic power.

Drake clenched his fists. Even so, he would not lose!

The great battle between man and dragon... had reached its climax!
