Black Clover: The Son of Fire Dragon Igneel
Chapter 729: SFDI - 729
Chapter 729: SFDI: Chapter 729
"Ice Demon: Zero Katana!"
Gray, half of his body covered in black magic markings, swung a sword forged from ice, assuming a sheathing posture.
Behind him, Winter General Inver, one of the Spriggan 12, bled profusely from his chest and fell straight down.
In this duel of ice mages, Gray of Fairy Tail emerged victorious.
Erza also settled her score with her mother. After changing into the defenseless Clear Heart Clothing, Erza displayed to her mother a will more resilient than any armor and sharper than any blade.
One by one, the Spriggan 12 were defeated, and the battles on other fronts progressed according to Mavis’s plan.
After everyone else had retreated, Gildarts finally revealed the true power of Fairy Tail’s former strongest mage.
After Wendy imbued him with Dragon Slayer power, Gildarts unleashed a full-power Split magic, shattering half of the Wood Dragon God’s body and destroying the Magic Crystal Mountain in the process.
Natsu and his group encountered opponents from Ignis Temple. These individuals had willingly accepted the power of Dragon Transformation magic, and as top-tier mages, they became even more formidable after transforming into dragon-men.
Even several of the Spriggan 12 were defeated by members of Ignis Temple.
Even Mirajane initially struggled, but she eventually defeated the Signor sisters along with Elfman and Lisanna.
As for Natsu, the opponents from Ignis Temple were not as difficult.
The members of Ignis Temple were all fire mages, making them naturally countered by Natsu, a Fire Dragon Slayer. If not for the power surge after dragonization, Natsu could have likely ended the battles quickly once he saw through their magic.
Despite the effort, Natsu still succeeded in reaching and destroying the final Magic Crystal Mountain, completely dispelling the Dragon Transformation magic.
However, everyone knew that the war’s conclusion didn’t depend on the dispelling of the Dragon Transformation magic but on the outcome of the most crucial battle.
...
Drake was in quite a sorry state now. His Dragon Flame Battle Form had long been shattered by Ignia, and even his Nibelungen Ring had regressed to its first stage.
Ignia’s claim of surpassing Acnologia didn’t seem entirely arrogant.
Excluding Acnologia’s overly cheating "magic" attribute, Ignia’s raw power might not be much different from his.
Especially in his use of dragon power, Ignia, a true dragon, was far stronger than Acnologia.
Every blow he landed inflicted considerable damage on Drake, forcing Drake to expend a large amount of magic power just to dispel the effects of dragon power. This caused Drake to experience a long-lost feeling of insufficient magic power.
Forced to deactivate the regeneration function of his Dragon King Battle Form to conserve magic for combat, Drake’s drooping arm could no longer exert any force.
Drake took out a potion, bit open the stopper with his teeth, and took a large gulp.
Feeling the pain of his arm healing only to be damaged again by dragon power, Drake flexed it with a wry smile.
Although it was only a temporary fix, it at least allowed him to continue fighting.
Ignia, having inflicted such significant damage on Drake, was naturally not unscathed either.
One of his dragon horns had been brutally broken off, and one wing hung limply like a tattered rag.
His body was covered in shattered dragon scales and bleeding wounds. Most terrifying was a gash on his side, through which his bones were visible.
That was the work of Drake’s Dragon Slayer Secret Art, the Fire Dragon Cleaving Demon Blade, which had nearly injured his internal organs.
However, the only thing unchanged was Ignia’s eyes, which still burned with fighting spirit.
Man and dragon panted, recovering their stamina and magic power. Both knew that in this situation, even the slightest bit of strength could tip the scales of victory.
Thus, after catching their breath, both moved almost simultaneously, charging at each other.
Ignia slammed a claw onto the ground, cracks spreading towards Drake. As red light surged, flames erupted from the cracks.
To be able to unleash such terrifying magic even in this severely injured state, Ignia truly lived up to his name as the Fire Dragon God.
Drake bared his teeth and leaped directly, dodging the ground that had turned into a sea of fire.
Ignia unceremoniously opened his mouth towards Drake, who was diving from mid-air, and spewed a torrent of flames.
Drake clenched his fist, black-red lightning crackling around it, and punched forward.
As the black-red lightning and flames spread outwards, Drake passed through them and landed another punch on Ignia’s head.
This punch even left an indentation, but then Ignia’s claws swatted Drake away as he fell.
Ignia, shaking his dazed head, looked up at Drake, who had fallen twice before getting up and said, "You’re really stubborn, not falling down even now!"
Drake smiled and said, "Humans are like that. They’re stubborn about certain things for no reason!"
Ignia looked dismissive and said, "Sounds boring, but I’ve certainly enjoyed myself.
Unfortunately, my power is running low, and I imagine yours is too."
Understanding the unspoken meaning, Drake said, "Then let’s pour everything into the next blow and settle this!"
Their gazes met, and both assumed their stances.
Drake lowered his body, concentrating all his remaining magic power. Flames danced around him, interspersed with crackling lightning arcs.
Ignia also crouched, a flickering flame appearing in his mouth.
The next moment, Drake shattered the ground and charged forward like a meteor. Ignia unleashed his final roar attack.
...
As the sun gradually sank below the horizon, the members of Fairy Tail stood outside their camp, gazing into the distance. Even though some were seriously injured, no one left, all wanting to witness the return of their companions with their own eyes.
Just as the sun was about to completely disappear below the horizon, a figure appeared in their sight.
Stella was the first to rush forward, throwing herself into the figure’s embrace.
Drake took a sharp breath and said with a wry smile, "If you hugged any tighter, you’d knock me out before Ignia even did!"
With that, Drake looked at his gathered companions and smiled, saying, "I’m back. This war is a victory for us at Fairy Tail!"
...
Time flew by, and three months after the war ended!
Lucy pushed open the door to her residence and, as expected, found a group of people having a tea party.
How should she put it? She was already accustomed to her home being occupied by her guildmates!
During these three months, Drake had been recovering from his injuries but had kept track of the outside world’s changes.
The Spriggan 12 had led the Alvarez Empire forces back to the western continent. Zeref, who had severed the curse, was living in seclusion with Mavis and August in a village near Magnolia.
As for Ignia, after losing to Drake, his whereabouts were unknown. However, he wouldn’t be causing major trouble like before... at least not until he could defeat Drake.
And Drake was confident he wouldn’t give him that chance, as he would continue to grow stronger.
Lucy sighed and said, "So, why are you all here at my place for a gathering again!"
Natsu laughed heartily and slung an arm around Lucy, saying, "Everything is over here, so of course, we’re going on another adventure!"
The others also showed expectant expressions, and even Drake smiled.
Natsu was right. There were many more adventures waiting ahead!
