Bloodbound To My Four Archenemies.
Chapter 119: A miracle.
July 24 2026, 12:07pm.
I do not know what to say. Goddess, for the first time in a long time, I am just so disappointed in Nyx’ara’s actions that words have failed me.
Anyways… her body swooshed through the air like a stone tumbling down a hillside and with a loud thud, she hit the ground in such a way that it made the air and ground vibrate perilously.
“H-hurts!” She cried out as an intense pain seared through her ribs, lighting her entire body on fire.
Nyx’ara, who had hoped to die immediately when she landed, was made to face the consequences of her actions when a couple of seconds passed, and she still hadn’t lost consciousness. If anything, only the pain in her body grew with each passing second.
Her vision was blurred, waning at the edges and her chest felt like it was being exposed to naked fire whenever she dragged in a deep breath. Her head felt like it had been cracked open and she vaguely heard her name being shouted before everything before her eyes began to swim.
Death!
She mumbled to herself with the excitement of a child who had finally gotten her freedom. People—young people especially— should not be so eager to die but here she was, extremely eager.
Desperate even…
It was insane!
She felt the cares of her mother’s fingers brushing against her chin and for the first time that week, she felt… exhilarated. Free. She felt a serene peace she hadn’t felt in a while and the corners of her lips quirked upward with excitement.
—And then everything went black.
*
The sound of something falling echoed around the vast space, calling the attention of everyone around and forcing them to rush over to check on what had just fallen with such a great force.
Azriel had been busy sparring with a few warriors when he heard the sound. He had no idea what it was and frankly, he did not care. All he cared about was finding out what it was… and if it was a person, saving them became his top priority.
He rushed over, half expecting to see a tumbled block, but to his utmost surprise, it was a person! Not just any person but Nyx’ara, his wife.
His mate.
His heart lurched wildly in his chest.
She was sprawled on the floor with her head twisted at a weird angle. A dark crimson liquid pooled at the back of her head, staining her pale silver strands until they looked like a mane of dark red… and her skin… goddess her skin looked so pale, she almost appeared like a corpse.
“Nyx’ara!” The scene broke something within Azriel, forcing him to rush forward like a mad man. His body shook violently as he cradled her limp form against his chest, screaming out her name as if that alone could pull her back from whatever brink she was now stuck in.
His breath caught in his chest when he realized that she was cold everywhere and was unmoving.
She almost felt dead.
Goddess, was she dead?!
This thought made him rise to his feet with the limp girl still held firmly against his chest. He then began to make his way to his car in blind desperation. His bare feet hit the ground with loud thuds, but he couldn’t see where he was headed. Hell, he felt so distraught… so confused… that all he could think about was the blood in her hair and the tiny rivulet falling down the side of her mouth.
He vaguely heard his name being called but he could not make sense of who was calling out to him. He could not think straight and continued marching until he collided with a wall.
The force sent him falling backwards especially as he had used his entire body to shield Nyx’ara, but he didn’t care.
“Fuck!” He grunted when pain lanced through his midsection, spreading up even to his back and chest.
He winced painfully but just as he tried to stand up one more time, large strong hands held him in place and an all too familiar voice called out; “Azriel?”
He frowned.
“Azriel, let her go! You’re suffocating her!”
But he couldn’t understand those words. He could hardly make sense of anything. Azriel was not a man easily affected by anything but he found an odorless kind of water leaking from the corners of both of his eyes.
His head shot up when Draven clasped his hand over his shoulder, pulling him up. But he didn’t want to rise.
Nyx’ara was not breathing and hell, he wasn’t sure he could live with that either.
His body shook violently when he was dragged to his feet and he almost fought back when Nyx’ara was snatched right out of his deft arms.
A low curse slipped through his lips as he tried to grasp for whatever fragments of her that he could still hold on to.
He ended up clawing at Rhys’s arms.
Rhys hissed: “Get a grip on yourself and let go! We’re trying to save her and you’ll kill her at this rate!”
Whatever voodoo Rhys had on him— maybe it was his tone— but it snapped him out of his reverie. He blinked through his watery eyes and looked down at Nyx’ara who seemed as though color was already returning to her face and skin.
His heart kicked in his chest at the sight and he stumbled back, just in time to see his three brothers all glaring at him like he was some sort of animal.
Rhys, who was holding onto Nyx’ara, frowned and hissed: “She isn’t dead yet but you could’ve killed her earlier.”
Azriel’s tongue stuck to the roof of his mouth as soon as he heard that, and goddess, at this time, he did not know whether to be pleased, mad, or simply overjoyed. He rasped;
“I was only trying to get her to the hospital!”
“Like a headless chicken.” Kieran chirped in playfully but his eyes still held a tinge of seriousness as he watched Nyx’ara’s furrowed eyebrows.
She sneezed then, which made his features relax a little, then he turned to Azriel and continued; “You were crying!”
Azriel wiped at the tears long forgotten at the corners of his face and flashed a grin at his brother.
“I never cry. I was sweating through my eyes because I was so worried that a girl was about to die in our pack.”
“Since when have girls not died in this pack?” Draven hissed now, finally finding his voice again when he noticed Nyx’ara’s lashes fluttering.
She was not dead. Which was a miracle.
“Since when did you begin to worry so much that you would ‘sweat through your eyes?!’
Azriel turned away from his brothers but none of them missed the soft sigh that escaped his lips at that moment.
He was relieved… not just because some random form had not died, but because she was his mate and she was alive.
