[BL]The Matchmaker Guide Doesn't Want Love
Chapter 142: Ch 142: Not Normal response
Noah woke up hearing some people discussing his condition, and he quickly tried to stand back up, only to feel how heavy his body was. It caused him to stop trying, but it was too late.
The others had already noticed that he was awake and were crowding around him.
"Noah, are you alright? Do you know where you are and what happened?"
Daniel asked as he helped Noah sit back up. He placed Noah such that he was leaning against the pile of pillows behind him.
It still hurt to sit like this, but the support allowed Noah to be able to look at Daniel and Erin at least. He blinked to clear his vision of the white spots that appeared after he changed positions, but Daniel took it as a sign of something being wrong.
"Noah, are you alright? W-What happened? Do you need my help? Let me see—"
Daniel reached out to grab Noah once more, but this time, his hand touched the naked portion of Noah’s arm, and he felt like he was being shocked. He quickly pulled his hand back and gave Daniel a shaky but reassuring look.
"I am fine now. I don’t feel the lingering pain anymore, and I also feel much more in control of myself. It should be fine for others to come in now."
From the look Daniel gave him, he did not seem to agree. His dark eyes looked at Noah like he thought Noah was making a huge mistake. He even grabbed Noah’s arm and made it lie back down before pulling the covers up.
"I think you are still half-asleep, seeing how you are sprouting nonsense right now. You should go back to sleep—"
"Daniel, I should be fine. Erin is here, and he’s an esper. Erin, can you tell him that I am not a danger to anyone right now?"
Noah asked, and Daniel turned to look at Erin. His eyes warned his professor to choose his side carefully. But Erin was forever loyal to Noah.
"He’s right. I can feel that Noah’s guiding has settled down. At least, I don’t feel any pull right now. It should be safe to let the others in now."
Daniel half-pouted and half-gritted his teeth as he realised that he had lost this round. He let out a sigh and walked towards the door before pushing it open.
Alan and Professor Riku were sitting at the end of the next room with their hands clutched tightly. They looked like they were having a hard time restraining themselves, and Daniel almost turned around and walked back towards Noah to tell him they should not call the other two.
But he was spotted before he could make that decision, and Alan quickly dragged Riku towards the room.
"Is it safe for us to come inside?"
Alan asked, barely holding his breath properly. Looking at him like this made Daniel’s mouth taste sour. He wanted to immediately tell Alan that he was not welcomed here.
But he held back his words and nodded at the end.
"You can come inside. Professor Erin says it should be safe."
Daniel’s voice sounded sour, but Alan ignored him and headed inside. He frowned as soon as his eyes landed on Professor Erin, and his instincts as an esper threatened to grab that man and pull him back.
But he took deep breaths to calm himself down and instead pushed Professor Riku forward.
"You should check on Noah and see if he’s fine now."
Alan felt a little guilty about almost attacking Noah and harming him. This was a new feeling for him, so he did not know how to deal with it.
So he did it in the only way he could—by ignoring the problem.
Professor Riku, who was suddenly pushed forward, blinked and looked at Noah’s pale face. He also had a hard time gathering himself after what happened. But unlike the others, he coughed and got himself under control quickly.
"Alright, let me see..."
Noah stood still as he felt Professor Riku’s powers checking him. It was a weird sensation that made him feel numb.
In the end, the medical esper let out a sigh and shook his head.
"Honestly, your condition is not normal. The energy inside you is chaotic, and it’s threatening to break free even now. But you are subconsciously restraining it. I have never seen such entanglement before. Did something happen?"
Riku sounded concerned, which made Noah try his best not to appear startled by it.
"Nothing happened... at least, not as far as I can recall. It is possible that I ate something bad that caused this... Hahaha."
That laugh sounded fake, but no one pointed this out. They were all allowing Noah to keep his secret.
Sigh
"Listen, kid, I want to keep you here for much longer, but seeing what just happened, it does not feel safe. Still, we do need you to be under observation for a few more days before we can conclude if that was a one-time deal or something more."
Riku concluded, and Noah nodded. But he did not offer a solution because he did not have any.
Honestly, he was afraid that anyone being with him was a risk for both him and that person. Still...
"I will keep an eye on Noah. Since we are both guides, it should be alright if I keep an eye on him. I can also get him out of there in time—"
"But it will become a risk to you as well. We are just assuming his condition would not affect you since you are a guide, but it will attract other espers, and you might be caught in the crossfire. It might be better to get external help this time."
Professor Riku suggested this with a pained face but immediately paled as he felt that immense pressure trying to flatten him.
"We are not getting anyone else involved in this. If there is such a problem, then I will take care of Noah myself. But we are not involving others in this."
