Bonding System: I Grow Stronger by Taming My Sect Elders
Chapter 37: Zorath’s Anger
However, what truly interested everyone was what would happen when Veyron finally emerged from his three months of closed-door cultivation.
Although the Azure Sky Sect maintained a neutral stance, its disciples were still permitted to settle disputes through formal duels, including life-and-death duels. However, anyone who caused trouble within the sect over their clan’s affairs risked being expelled.
After all, the Azure Sky Sect was the most powerful sect in the region, standing at the pinnacle of all sects and rivaling the top noble clans, including the Ignis Clan.
When Jason’s crimes came to light, he was suspended from the sect for six months. Although his actions weren’t considered heinous enough to warrant a harsher punishment, Grand Elder Eleanor had ensured that he faced the consequences.
Naturally, the Ignis Clan didn’t take this news lightly.
....
Ignis Clan was Located in the southern part of Skyreach Imperial City, the Ignis Clan was one of the most powerful clans in the entire Sunmoon Empire.
Its branches and sub-branches were spread across cities of all sizes throughout the empire, giving it considerable influence.
Of course, it still couldn’t compare to the Imperial Clan, as the two stood on entirely different levels of power. Nevertheless, it was said that the Ignis Clan maintained a close relationship with the Imperial Clan, which was another reason why other clans feared it.
However, the Ignis Clan also had its share of powerful rivals, including the Storm Clan, the Amoria Clan, and the Heiwen Clan. Its greatest enemy, however, was the Snow Clan.
The Ignis Clan’s vast estate occupied a considerable portion of southern Skyreach Imperial City.
Its magnificent red walls surrounded a sprawling complex of buildings, with elegant curved roofs, intricate wooden structures, and traditional eastern architectural designs that reflected the clan’s long history and prestigious status.
Inside one of the rooms within the clan’s estate, Jason was resting on his bed.
His face had returned to normal after he consumed several powerful healing Spirit Pills. However, his expression remained twisted with anger as he gritted his teeth, unable to accept his six-month suspension from the sect.
He had been brutally beaten by Veyron, the very cripple he had once mocked and bullied. Jason had never imagined that someone he considered worthless would one day humiliate him so thoroughly.
Now, with news of his defeat spreading rapidly throughout the city, he had become a laughingstock.
"Honey, eat something... You haven’t eaten anything all day."
A beautiful woman sitting before him spoke with concern. She had long black hair, delicate features, and an elegant appearance.
Although her beauty couldn’t quite compare to women like Aveline, Xialyn, or Eleanor, she was still an exceptionally beautiful woman in her own right.
Dressed in red robes, she held a tray of food in her hands, her face filled with worry as she watched her son refuse to eat.
She couldn’t bear seeing Jason in such a state, especially after learning that he had been defeated and humiliated by that hateful, cursed nephew of hers.
She still couldn’t believe the news she had received. As far as she knew, Veyron was nothing more than a cripple—the son of her husband’s elder brother, a man’s son the clan had never truly accepted.
Despite everything, he had continued carrying the Ignis surname.
Veyron had been weak, unable to cultivate because of his crippled Spirit Veins. Yet, somehow, he had managed to repair them and brutally defeat her precious son, humiliating him in front of everyone.
To make matters worse, Elder Beric had received a severe punishment and been sent to the Dark Prison for concealing Jason’s crimes.
She knew her son could be unruly and troublesome, but he was still her child. She couldn’t bear to see him suffer, especially when he had now stopped eating altogether.
"I don’t want to eat, Mother, not until I see that bastard Veyron’s dead face!" Jason shouted angrily, his eyes burning with hatred.
"Sigh... You’re bringing this up again? Didn’t I already tell you that he has entered closed-door cultivation for three months at Jade Mist Peak, under the protection of that bitch Aveline? How are we supposed to do anything to him now?"
She frowned, clearly frustrated by the situation. However, seeing her son’s miserable state, she softened her expression and added, "Don’t worry, son. Your father will do something about it."
Just as she finished speaking, the doors to the room swung open, and a man stepped inside.
"Darling," the woman called out.
The man didn’t respond. He had dark hair, crimson eyes, and a sharp, mature face framed by a neatly kept beard. Dressed in red robes, he carried an imposing presence, and his cold gaze immediately settled on Jason.
Jason gulped nervously under his father’s stare. He knew that expression all too well and could already guess what was coming.
His mother recognized it too. She hurriedly opened her mouth, intending to say something before her husband lost his temper, but she was too late.
The man extended one hand, and Jason’s body immediately lifted into the air as his spirit force pulled him toward his father.
Before Jason could react, the man grabbed him by the neck and tightened his grip.
"Gah...!"
Jason’s face twisted in pain as he struggled to breathe, his hands desperately clawing at his father’s wrist.
"Darling, let him go!" the woman screamed.
She rushed forward and grabbed her husband’s arm, desperately trying to pry his fingers away from their son’s throat. However, despite all her efforts, she wasn’t strong enough to loosen his grip.
"Zorath, let him go! He’s your son!" Lana shouted, her voice trembling with desperation as she watched Jason struggle in her husband’s grasp.
Zorath turned his cold gaze toward her, his expression growing even more vicious.
"Lana, it’s because of you that this bastard has grown into such a useless piece of shit! He got beaten to a pulp by a cripple and humiliated the entire clan!"
His voice was filled with fury, and his grip on Jason’s neck tightened momentarily.
"It doesn’t matter! At least that brat is still a member of our clan!" Lana shouted back, hoping her words would convince her husband that the situation wasn’t entirely hopeless.
However, the moment those words left her mouth, she realized she had made a terrible mistake.
Before she could react, Zorath flung Jason aside. His body crashed into a nearby table, shattering it into pieces as he fell among the broken fragments.
SLAP!!
A sharp slap echoed through the room.
Lana was sent flying across the room before crashing onto the bed. Pain shot through her face, and blood began trickling from her nose.
Before she could even recover, Zorath strode toward her and grabbed her jaw, forcing her to look at him.
Lana stared at her husband in terror. Seeing the murderous expression on his face, she immediately realized that she had crossed a line.
"What the fuck did you just say?!" Zorath roared.
" I-I-I’m sorry..." Lana managed to stammer, her voice trembling with fear.
She knew she shouldn’t have said those words. Of all people, she understood better than anyone that bringing up Zorath’s elder brother in front of him was a terrible mistake.
Zorath despised his elder brother more than anyone else. And his hatred extended even further toward the man’s son, Veyron, who was still alive despite everything.
How dare she suggest that the brat still belonged to their clan? The mere thought of it was enough to ignite his fury all over again.
