Bonding System: I Grow Stronger by Taming My Sect Elders
Chapter 49: the Heavenly Pressure Trial 6
She was immensely proud of him, yet watching him suffer so terribly was becoming increasingly unbearable.
"Please, my baby..." she whispered, her voice trembling as she fought back another sob.
Even Eleanor was at a loss for words. She understood that Veyron possessed an exceptionally strong will, but what he was displaying now was far beyond anything she had imagined.
Again and again, he continued to impress her. Watching him press forward even when his body seemed to have reached its absolute limit was something only a true warrior could accomplish.
After all, a strong will had always been one of the greatest assets a great cultivator could possess.
Her bond with Veyron had increased several times throughout the trial, deepening her interest in him with each increase. Seeing Aveline’s devastated expression, Eleanor gently placed a hand on her friend’s shoulder.
"...He really has surprised all of us," she murmured. "His parents would have been so proud of him."
Aveline didn’t respond. Tears continued streaming down her cheeks as she watched her beloved baby struggle beneath the overwhelming pressure.
Xialyn was in a similar state. Sitting nearby, she could barely keep her eyes clear as tears blurred her vision. She simply couldn’t bear to see her Little Vey suffering so terribly.
Her bond with Veyron had also increased several times throughout the trial. Veyron could see all the notifications appearing before him, and despite his current condition, he felt satisfied with the unexpected gains.
Meanwhile, Xialyn could think of nothing but the young man she loved, who continued pushing himself beyond his limits.
Veyron, of course, had no idea that his determination to reach the twentyfold gravity zone was steadily increasing his bonding with both Xialyn and Eleanor.
Although he had no intention of using the trial for that purpose, the unexpected gains certainly worked in his favor.
Meanwhile, the image of Veyron struggling forward had become permanently etched into the minds of countless spectators. The trial wasn’t being watched only by those gathered at the Azure Battle Grounds.
Through the sect-wide projections, disciples, Elders, Grand Elders, and even the powerful figures above them were witnessing his extraordinary determination.
Of course, reaching twentyfold gravity wasn’t necessarily impossible for Inner Court disciples whose cultivation had surpassed Rank Eight of the Spirit Adept Realm. Yet, even among them, not everyone could accomplish such a feat.
Cultivation and physical strength alone weren’t always enough. Without the willpower to keep moving after reaching one’s limits, even a powerful cultivator could be forced to surrender.
And Veyron was proving just how far an unwavering will could carry someone.
Another two hours passed. Finally, Veyron reached the nineteenfold gravity zone.
His condition had deteriorated terribly. He could barely lift his feet, and his back had become completely hunched beneath the crushing pressure. His legs trembled violently with every movement, threatening to give way at any moment.
He coughed up mouthful after mouthful of blood, leaving a long trail of crimson stains across the floor behind him. His hair was drenched with sweat, while blood continued flowing from his nose and ears.
Even his eyes had begun to bleed. His body was screaming at him to stop, and every instinct urged him to collapse and surrender.
Yet, the finish line was now within reach.
[Just a little more! Two more steps, and you’ll accomplish the impossible!]
The system’s words continued echoing in Veyron’s mind, giving him another reason to hold on. Its encouragement helped him maintain his determination when even the simplest movement had become an agonizing struggle.
Veyron couldn’t respond anymore. He no longer had the strength to utter even a single word. But then, despite his unbearable condition, a faint smile spread across his bloodied face.
He was almost there.
Across the Azure Battle Grounds and throughout the entire sect, countless spectators watched Veyron’s bloodied face and the faint smile that remained on his lips despite his horrifying condition.
Many women’s hearts raced at the sight, and even several female Elders were no exception.
As for the female disciples, many had already fallen for Veyron, and witnessing his extraordinary determination only deepened their admiration.
Even Max and the other geniuses couldn’t help but admire him. Not a single person dared to compare him to the cripple he had once been.
They had witnessed his determination firsthand, and they understood that the harshest circumstances often revealed a person’s true character.
And this was the true Veyron Ignis.
Aveline and Xialyn watched with reddened eyes, their hearts tightening painfully with every passing moment.
Due to their Eternal Bond, Aveline could feel Veyron’s emotions and his unwavering determination to keep moving forward. She understood just how desperately he wanted to complete the trial.
Although she could barely bear watching him suffer any longer, she knew that forcibly stopping him would only hurt him.
Her baby had made his decision, and she understood that he would never forgive himself if he surrendered now when the finish line was so close.
So, despite the agony in her heart, she could only watch and silently pray for him.
Beside her, Eleanor remained unusually quiet.
After seeing the smile on Veyron’s bloodied face, her heartbeat suddenly quickened for reasons she couldn’t understand. Of course, as a powerful female cultivator, she was far beyond the reach of ordinary emotions that might easily overwhelm others.
Yet, seeing Veyron smile under such unbearable pressure stirred something strange within her heart.
In that moment, he seemed countless times more attractive to her than before. She instinctively raised a hand to her chest, feeling her rapidly beating heart beneath her palm.
Why was her heart beating so fast?
Meanwhile, in the Elders’ seating area, Selena experienced something similar as she watched Veyron’s smile. Although her reaction wasn’t as intense as Eleanor’s, her interest in him had grown considerably despite their lack of direct interaction.
Back in the hall, Elder Rowan wore a faint smile as he watched Veyron’s determined figure.
"What an astonishing young man... His willpower has surpassed all of our expectations."
"Your words are true, Elder Rowan," Elder Shin replied, stroking his long white beard. "Although what we’re witnessing feels almost impossible, seeing that young man’s determination makes it strangely believable.
He has repeatedly proven that he refuses to surrender, no matter how difficult the challenge becomes."
"Only two steps remain," Elder Kenji added, his eyes fixed on the projection. "If he completes this trial, he will make history. And I can confidently say that we might not witness another Outer Court disciple accomplish such a feat for hundreds of years!"
Their words weren’t exaggerated.
Reaching the nineteenfold gravity zone while only at Rank Two of the Spirit Adept Realm was already an astonishing achievement.
The fact that Veyron was now attempting to take the final steps toward twentyfold gravity seemed utterly ridiculous.
Yet, they were witnessing it with their own eyes.
Inside the hall, Veyron completed one final, lengthy circulation of Spirit Energy throughout his body. His reserves had recovered instantly, allowing him to reinforce his exhausted body once more.
However, his heartbeat remained rapid under the crushing pressure, and his mind struggled to remain clear.
