Chapter 7: Do you want to establish a bond?

He swallowed. Her ass gave under his hands, warm and full, while her breasts pressed soft against his chest. The two sensations landed together, and for a second he forgot how to breathe.

But before he could enjoy the moment any longer, his aunt suddenly said,

"Put me down, Vey... Hehehe... Don’t treat your aunt like a baby."

Vey followed her words and gently put her down on the floor. Aveline straightened her clothes before turning around. For a brief moment, Vey could have sworn he saw her cheeks turn slightly red.

"Alright... Go wash yourself and change into a new set of clothes. I’ll make something for you to eat," Aveline said as she turned back toward him with a big smile on her face.

"Alright, Aunt."

With that, Aveline went to prepare some food for Vey, while he made his way toward his room on the second floor.

As Vey got back to his room, he was reminded of how big and spacious it was. Of course, its design was completely different from anything on Earth, following the beautiful style of the cultivation world. Intricate patterns decorated the walls, and a large balcony overlooked the surroundings.

There was a large, comfortable bed, along with a table and chair, as well as everything Vey would need in his daily life.

Vey was still wearing his dirty, blood-soaked, torn white uniform, so he headed into the bathroom to take a bath.

After a few minutes, he came out of the bathroom, his body still damp from the bath. He made his way toward the large mirror in his room.

Vey already knew how he looked, but he was a little narcissistic as well and enjoyed admiring his own features.

He had long black hair that reached his shoulders, striking red eyes, and an extremely handsome, sharp face. He could easily have been considered a top model on Earth.

Then there was his well-toned, muscular body.

Since he couldn’t cultivate properly, Vey had spent more time tempering his body instead. He trained extremely hard every day, which resulted in him developing an impressive physique.

From Vey’s perspective, his body was even better than the one he had possessed on Earth.

He had gone to the gym back on Earth, but his physique had never been this sculpted. In the end, it depended on the method one used to train their body.

[ body-tempering techniques are very difficult to practice. Looking at your profile, you don’t even have a proper one.]

Vey remembered that he had changed his body-tempering techniques again and again, hoping that one of them would help him break through if he continued practicing it.

But eventually, he had given up when nothing worked.

At the very least, he had gained a nicely trained, muscular body. Combined with his tall height and handsome face, he certainly looked like someone who could easily attract attention.

[Tch... What a narcissist!]

"Did you just click your tongue?"

Vey raised an eyebrow, but instead of answering his question, the system simply said,

[Quit wasting time. Get ready. You should check your notifications.]

Seeing that the system was ignoring his question, Vey didn’t press further. He simply sighed and changed into a different robe rather than wearing the white uniform of the Azure Sky Sect.

Noble children had the privilege of wearing robes of their choice and choosing their own colors, although the majority didn’t exercise that privilege. Usually, only the children of the major clans did so.

Even though Vey wasn’t particularly valued by either his mother’s or father’s clan, he was still a noble by birth.

The previous Vey would never have worn something like this, but the current Vey needed to leave an impression wherever he went. So, he needed to look different.

With that thought, he put on a black robe that fit his frame perfectly.

Of course, he had robes in several different colors that his aunt had bought for him, but he had never worn them before. Looking back, he realized that the previous Vey had been quite boring.

But Vey personally liked black the most, and it matched his appearance perfectly. Black hair, red eyes, a handsome face, a well-toned body, and black robes.

It was a perfect combination.

He then tied his hair back after drying it with a little Spirit Energy, neatly securing it behind his head. Looking at himself in the mirror once more, Vey couldn’t help but smile.

He looked quite like a protagonist now.

Vey then sat on the bed and opened the notification he had seen earlier.

Ding!

[Do you want to establish a bond?]

[YES] [NO]

The old Vey might have hesitated. Maybe he would have not chosed it. Maybe not. He loved his aunt, and he knew she loved him back.

Turning that into something romantic did not feel like a betrayal. It felt like the natural next step.

Azure Sky Sect had six grand elders. Three of them were women, and Aveline stood among the most beautiful of them. The other two female grand elders matched her in status and looks, but neither had her personality.

She was bubbly, easy to talk to, warm in a way that made people lower their guard. Elders, clan leaders, even sect masters from outside had been circling her for years.

Vey had watched them try. He was done watching.

He pressed [YES].

Ding!

[First bond established.]

[Host may assign the bond to one of two slots: Harem or Random.]

He did not think about it. He tapped Harem.

Ding!

[First harem slot filled!]

[Bond: Aveline Amoria]

[Bonding: 90%]

[Note: She loves you more than anyone in the world, more than her own family. She believes you are the only family she has. You are the only man she has ever allowed to touch her.]

Ding!

[Sharing conditions met.]

[You may share any two aspects of her strength.]

Vey’s eyes widened at the percentage. Ninety percent already.

That tracked with how she treated him. The note only confirmed what he had already felt. Familial love had a ceiling, and she was pressed against it. Anything past that would no longer read as family. It would read as a partner.

The bond settled, and his own feelings sharpened with it. He could not picture her with another man. The thought sat wrong in his chest, immediate and final.

[She’s already completely devoted to protecting and supporting you. Whether the bond grows past 90% depends on your future actions and how deeply you strengthen your connection.]

Vey understood what the system meant, and he wasn’t going to back down now. He would make the bond between him and his aunt reach 100% eventually.

[Alright, now that the bond has been established and has reached 90%, you’ve met the threshold required to share two aspects of your bonded partner’s powers. You can now choose which two aspects you want to share from your aunt’s strength.]

With that...Vey looked at his aunt’s profile again.

He had already seen her information at the entrance, but he hadn’t been able to focus on it properly. Now that he looked at it closely, however, he couldn’t help but feel both shocked and amazed at the same time.

His aunt was ridiculously strong.

She was actually in the Spirit King Realm — Rank 5.

"Fuck..."Vey couldn’t help but mutter in disbelief. Compared to his current strength, the difference between them was simply enormous.
