"Fuck..."Vey couldn’t help but mutter in disbelief. Compared to his current strength, the difference between them was simply enormous.

Vey knew his aunt was strong, but he had never realized that she was this strong. Well, it did make sense, considering she was a Grand Elder of the most powerful sect in the entire Sunmoon Empire.

It was time for Vey to choose two aspects of his aunt’s power that would help him the most.

He carefully went through Aveline’s profile, trying to determine which aspects would be the most useful for him.

Of course, he couldn’t share her cultivation, as that wasn’t possible according to the rules of the Bonding System.

Vey went through every aspect of Aveline’s power, carefully considering what he should choose. But before making his decision, he suddenly became curious about something and decided to ask.

"Tell me, System, if I share an aspect of her power—suppose I share one of her battle techniques—will my mastery be the same as hers, or will I have to start from zero?"

[That’s a smart question... I didn’t expect that from you.]

Vey rolled his eyes.

"Just fucking answer already!"

[Alright... And yes, you won’t have to start from zero. Sharing an aspect also means sharing the mastery she has over it. So, cheers!]

Vey was glad to have that confirmed. At least now he wouldn’t have to worry about starting from scratch.

Though, he couldn’t help but wish his bond with his aunt was already at 100%. That would have made things even easier.

Still, he didn’t mind.

He was already getting more than enough. Asking for anything more at this point would simply be greedy.

[That you already are...]

The System taunted Vey once again.

As usual, he decided to ignore it. There was no point arguing with a System.

"Alright, I’ve made my decision. I’ll choose the Spirit Core and the Wind Flash Steps battle technique."

As soon as he said that, a notification appeared.

Ding!

[You have shared two aspects with your bond, Aveline Amoria!]

Ding!

[Congratulations!]

[You have acquired a Blue Spirit Core!]

Ding!

[Congratulations!]

[You have acquired an Earth-Rank Battle Technique: Wind Flash Steps!]

Vey couldn’t have been happier when he saw the notification. Almost immediately, he felt a strange change taking place within his body as he gained a Blue Spirit Core.

From what Vey knew, the better one’s Spirit Core was, the greater their chances of becoming stronger quickly. A higher-ranked Spirit Core meant a greater reserve of Spirit Energy within the core, allowing a cultivator to fight for longer without exhausting themselves.

It also meant that their Spirit Energy could be refined and recovered faster, allowing them to restore their energy sooner after completely exhausting it.

In other words, the higher the rank of one’s Spirit Core, the more fortunate they were when it came to cultivation.

Of course, having a lower-ranked Spirit Core didn’t mean someone was incapable of becoming powerful. It simply meant they would need to put in more time and effort to reach the same heights that someone with a higher-ranked Spirit Core could reach more easily.

However, having a high-ranked Spirit Core didn’t mean someone could become powerful without putting in any effort either.

Cultivation still depended on one’s diligence and hard work.

In the end, talent could determine how fast someone progressed, but hard work was still necessary to turn that talent into true strength.

And in Vey’s case, he had always been a hard worker. Now that he also had luck on his side, there would be nothing stopping him from reaching the heights he desired.

Coming back to the present, Vey felt his Spirit Energy reserves increasing. His body felt more relaxed and comfortable than before.

He then focused on the battle technique he had received.

The moment the technique entered his body, his mind had already gained a complete comprehension of it.

It felt as though he had been practicing the technique for years."Can I check the description of the technique?" Vey asked.

[Of course you can... Just touch its name, and the description will appear.]

Vey followed the System’s command, and the description of the technique instantly appeared before him.

++++

[Wind Flash Steps]

[Rank: Earth]

[Description:]

[A movement technique that channels Spirit Energy into the user’s legs, allowing them to move with the speed and agility of a gust of wind. With each step, the user can rapidly accelerate, dodge attacks, or close the distance between themselves and their opponent. Skilled users can chain multiple steps together, creating the illusion of flickering through the battlefield.]

++++

Vey wasn’t surprised.

It was an Earth-Rank movement technique, after all. One important thing to consider was that the technique would become more effective as his Spirit Energy reserves and control over the technique increased.

As for why Vey hadn’t chosen anything else from his aunt’s abilities, the reason was simple.

Her cultivation technique wasn’t suitable for him. If it had been, Aveline would have shared it with him in a heartbeat.

He also didn’t want her Charm Affinity. He didn’t want to waste one of his precious sharing slots on an affinity he didn’t particularly need.

Of course, having Charm Affinity would certainly be useful, especially when dealing with women. But Vey already had System-related methods that could help him with that.

Besides, he still had one aspect left to share.

Once his bond with his aunt reached 100%, if he still couldn’t find anything more useful to share, he could always choose her Charm Affinity then.

Next was her physique.

The Eternal Enchantress Physique was a Saint-Rank physique, and Vey knew just how powerful it was. Unfortunately, it was only suitable for women, meaning he couldn’t share it.

As for her other battle techniques, most of them were closely related to her cultivation technique and physique. They wouldn’t be as useful to him, so he didn’t want to waste his remaining slot on them.

In the end, he had chosen the most practical combination. A Blue Spirit Core as the main enhancement...And Wind Flash Steps, a powerful Earth-Rank movement technique.

For Vey, those were the best choices.

Ding!

[First Sharing Successful!]

[You have successfully established a 90% Bond!]

[You have acquired 500 Bond Points!]

Vey was surprised. He hadn’t expected to receive Bond Points simply for reaching 90% bonding and successfully sharing aspects of Aveline’s power.

[Well... that’s how it works. I’ll reward you whenever you accomplish what the System wants you to do, so you’d better hurry up and establish more bonds.]

[If you want to earn more BP, you’ll have to do what you’re good at.]

Vey was surprised by the System’s words, but amid all the excitement, he suddenly remembered his main goal.

The only way for him to grow stronger through the Bonding System was to establish connections with powerful women.

And he already had a 90% bond with his aunt. Now, he needed to strengthen that bond even further and eventually reach 100%.

But that would be difficult, so Vey decided he would have to look for more women he could establish bonds with.

Then, he suddenly remembered his senior sisters. There were several senior sisters in the sect who were both powerful and famous for their beauty.

Aveline had several disciples, all of them women, but she had one main disciple who was especially breathtaking. She was also a Core Disciple of the Azure Sky Sect.

Fortunately, she treated Vey like a doting little brother, always showing him plenty of affection whenever they met.

A small smile appeared on Vey’s face as he remembered her. Perhaps she would be a good person to establish another bond with.

Ding!

[You have received a Quest!]

[Quest: Make Your lovely Aunt Sit on your lap!]

[Quest Difficulty: Hard]

[Time Limit: 2 Hours]

[Penalty: None]

[Reward: 500 BP]

Vey stared at the notification for a moment.

"...Seriously?"
