Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game
Chapter 1040 - 539: Are You Afraid?
Vincent Hunter was momentarily stunned before he realized what had happened: "Quick, call for an ambulance, send them to the hospital, hurry......." The nearby bodyguards were already wrapping the three severed fingers in clean tissue. They had just been cut off, and sending them to the hospital should still be in time to reattach them, although the nerves and sense of touch would certainly be much less than before. Thinking about playing cards skillfully again was now impossible.
"What’s wrong, feeling uncomfortable?" The hoarse voice seemed to come from deep inside his chest. He looked at Avery Jane’s pale face, feeling a twinge of reluctance in his heart.
"Today, thank you for today......" After expressing her gratitude, Avery Jane wanted to leave; the large crowd and the bloody scene made her uneasy. She wanted to quickly get out of there.
"Just thank you?" Despite his efforts to demonstrate goodwill and sincerity, all she offered was a simple, lukewarm "thank you."
His heart ached painfully, though the tone seemed nonchalant; it was really just his own wishful thinking. He had hoped she would be passionate or instantly give herself to him, considering how much she used to hate him, even wishing him dead. Now he should be grateful that she could calmly thank him, shouldn’t he? But it wasn’t enough, nowhere near enough. He wanted to live with her, to possess her day and night, wanting all of her completely: her body, her soul.
Avery Jane clung tightly to her shawl, her exquisitely beautiful face showing traces of defensiveness.
Joshua Hughes saw the look in her eyes, a mix of helplessness, pain, confusion, and mistrust; it all gave him an answer — she still couldn’t forgive him. Perhaps in her eyes, he was just a womanizing playboy changing women daily, only knowing to use forceful means. She didn’t even give him a chance to explain, didn’t allow him to come close. His deep eyes watched the solitary leaving figure, every crimson bloodshot line was clear........
Outside, the street exuded a suppressive and tense atmosphere. A white van stopped at the hotel entrance. As Avery Jane walked out, the van’s door was pulled open, and the bodyguard behind her immediately rushed up. But no one anticipated that hundreds of people would suddenly surge onto the street, rushing into the hotel entrance, and in an instant, the scene was extremely chaotic.
:"Quickly inform Young Master Hughes, there’s trouble........" Seeing the dire situation, the bodyguard understood that Vincent Hunter, who had built such a massive business empire, was certainly no fool, and that in Las Vegas, calling out hundreds of people was child’s play. They shoved their way through the crowd, but with so many people, there was nothing they could do. And that petite black silhouette they were focused on had just vanished, as the crowd cleared a path for the van, which swiftly sped away......
Avery Jane was pushed by the crowd to the side of the car, suddenly smelling a mind-altering and chaotic scent, her long eyelashes trembling while her vision began to blur. Her whole body felt like it was floating like a feather. Before being dragged into the car, she realized she was already in terrible danger, and after that moment of consciousness, she slowly entered a warm yet hallucinatory world......
It can’t be, she can’t fall asleep; she fiercely pinched her thigh, trying to force her eyes open, but it was useless. Her long eyelashes drooped helplessly. The driver turned to look at her, revealing a disgusting grin, with a mouthful of yellow teeth and lecherous eyes. The look in his eyes terrified her, desperately wanting to raise her hands to cover her nose, but her hands were too weak to lift. Tears fell, hot and streaming down.
:"Young Master Hughes, something happened. Hundreds of people suddenly surged into the hotel entrance, scattering us and Miss Jane. She was taken away in a white van, the license plate is XXXXX."
Joshua Hughes’ heart was fiercely wrenched; his face was tightly drawn. In an instant, he felt as though he was in a disoriented panic, cold sweat breaking out all over him. He had already prepared, yet didn’t expect Vincent Hunter to act so fast, at the hotel’s doorstep. Danger came so swiftly; he seemed to hear the sound of her teardrops falling, one by one, onto his heart....
