Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game
Chapter 1043 - 540: We’re Already Over, Don’t Be Like This Anymore
After the doctor cleaned and stitched him up, he sensibly tiptoed out.
"Come here..." His hoarse voice was as enchanting as a melody in the night, awakening her fragile and disoriented soul. She walked over lightly, but before approaching, his long arm pulled her in, causing her to tumble into his embrace, bare skin, scorching body heat. Yet his lips were somewhat cold as they fiercely collided with hers, capturing the sweetest essence from her mouth, enticing her soft little tongue that wanted to evade, sucking on it intensely, making the root of her tongue ache with soreness, trembling; he hadn’t changed at all—still so domineering.
"What are you afraid of, Avery Jane? What are you afraid of being with me?" He could see her fear. Was she questioning his ability to protect her? That was the biggest insult to a man.
Because of his violent movements, the freshly stitched wound on his body was almost about to tear open. With heavy breaths, he rested his forehead against hers, listening to her chaotic breathing and heartbeat. He couldn’t hold back any longer; he hadn’t tasted her flavor in so long, even if she slapped him hard later, even if she used cold words to kill his heart again, he didn’t care. He just wanted to hold her well, kiss her thoroughly.
What was she afraid of? She feared if those knives hadn’t hacked at his back, hadn’t sliced his arm, but had accurately and cruelly pierced through his chest, plunging deep into his heart—what would that have been like?
Thinking of this made her tremble with fear, not daring to dwell further on the thought. Luckily, he was okay...
He gazed at her, his large hand gently stroking her face, following the delicate contours of her refined bones as he moved downward slowly. His fingers were coarse, sliding over her smooth skin, carrying a hint of burning warmth. He was unwilling to let her go because now she was still in shock. Once she came to her senses, she would certainly say things like wanting to never see him again like a defensive hedgehog, rendering all his efforts futile...
"We are already over; please stop this..." Under the touch of those scorching fingertips, amidst that heated breath, she lifted her clear eyes. She looked at the man in front of her. Under the light, his silhouette was like the masterpiece of creation itself. Hearing her words, she witnessed the boundless pain emerging in his eyes, resembling a sea of sorrow. His deep gaze wandered over her face at such a close distance, unsure whether she could hear the sound of her heart breaking into pieces...
She didn’t realize the danger still lurking outside in Las Vegas, beneath the glamorous nightlife, nor how much more evil was transpiring. The blood he’d shed would soon be thoroughly concealed. Yet, for her sake, he was willing to eliminate all dangers, just for her to live in peace and happiness. Watching her, the expression on his face bore heartache, and yet still seductive, enchanting, capable of overturning the world...
"Even if you hate me, can’t stand me, you must endure unless you want to leave Las Vegas alive." It’s only by keeping her by his side, never leaving her out of sight that he could be sure she was safe. Don’t refuse me, even if it’s only letting me protect you for a few days, letting me be close to you for a few days. He forced to suppress the impulse to cling to her, his eyes flashing without the former sharpness, evidently pale and filled with pain. His thin lips pressed into a line.
Those knives were very sharp, hacked deep, and the white bandages wrapped around him slowly seeped into a glaring bright red. Avery Jane watched the blood blossom into sinister flowers on the bandages, gently pushed him away, and stood up. Joshua Hughes’s heart felt like it had been mercilessly smashed by a hammer, hurting to the point of numbness. Even letting him protect her a few days until they left Las Vegas was too much? Did she so hate him, unaware how yesterday’s alley confrontation almost shook all of Las Vegas? How many men Big Head George had under his control, how many people he controlled through drugs? How could she understand such a world, still naively thinking she could redeem her deceased parents at the casino? She just stood there, with clear eyes carrying a complex emotion he couldn’t even comprehend. The pain of her rejection was far greater than the pain from the wounds on his body—such agony swept over him, stimulating every nerve ending. Never had he bowed so low before a woman, never.
