Chapter 1049: Chapter 543: Is He Pursuing You? (2)

:”It’s done, thank you Beckett Wright, your design really helped me a lot.” Avery Jane looked at the delicate rose, its dreamy purple so romantic it left one breathless.

Beckett Wright lifted his eyes, his warm gaze sweeping toward the man walking behind them, nodding lightly with a smile.

Joshua Hughes understood the deep hostility hidden beneath this outwardly kind smile. This globally renowned designer was not as gentle and harmless as he seemed. At least, in the hospital, he had exposed his true nature, showing hostility towards him, going to great lengths that day. However, in today’s setting, he didn’t want to have any disputes with him. After all, he was a bit impatient that day, which made Avery Jane unhappy and a little scared.

Beckett Wright smiled more warmly at Joshua Hughes. Avery Jane had her back turned to him, so she wouldn’t see the chilling aura emanating from the man behind her. He thought a girl like Avery Jane deserved happiness, deserved true love, but since seeing Joshua Hughes with a woman at Grant’s place, he swore he would personally bring happiness to Avery Jane. It’s not difficult to move a girl like Avery Jane, all it takes is sincerity.

He bowed his head toward Avery Jane and said, “Shall we first visit the new studio, and then I’ll welcome you?”

He was not far from her, and she could clearly feel his gaze, like penetrating rays. Avery Jane’s heart was in chaos, nodding absentmindedly, letting Beckett Wright hold one hand while carrying her things in the other, leading her out of the airport.

Joshua Hughes’ handsome face turned pale, as waves of pain and reluctance flooded his heart. He wished he could rush up and pull apart those hands, wished he could hold her tightly in his arms, to embrace her strongly enough to merge into his very being, so she would never leave him again. After separating here, he didn’t know when he could see her again. He thought what he did in Las Vegas was enough, that she would surely be moved, would surely like it. But now he realized those things were not enough to move her, were far from enough. Because even though she knew he was following and escorting her back personally, she didn’t turn to look at him once. With immense restraint, he watched her petite figure disappear among the crowd…

Only after she completely disappeared from his sight did he suddenly awaken, feeling like a large chunk of his heart was missing, recalling their interactions over the past few days. He couldn’t understand how he had fallen to such a state, how he had let her go like this, slowly closing his eyes, his thick eyelashes hiding the intense heartache…

After everything was done, Avery Jane followed Eliza Bell back to the apartment Eliza currently rented.

“Sis, what is your relationship with Joshua Hughes? Is he pursuing you? Do you know his assistant?” Both had bathed, changed into pajamas, and were now lounging on opposite ends of the sofa, chatting casually.

“Sort of, are you talking about Julian Carter?” Avery Jane casually avoided the topic about her and Joshua Hughes.

Eliza Bell’s eyes lit up at the mention of Julian Carter’s name, like a mouse seeing cheese, nodding excitedly, “Yes, it’s Julian Carter. Sis, does he have a girlfriend?”

“Probably not, he seems to have always been single…” Avery Jane seriously remembered Julian Carter being like a lone ranger, always coming and going alone.

“Eliza, do you like him…?”

“I do…” Eliza Bell stuffed a large handful of chips into her mouth, her voice muffled, but she admitted it straightforwardly.

“Why?” Avery Jane found it odd. Julian Carter was like a block of wood. Though Joshua Hughes could be quite temperamental and domineering, at least he was personable. Yet Julian Carter, after all the times she’d met him, never showed any expression, like he had facial paralysis.

“He’s so cool, sis. You don’t know…” Eliza Bell chewed on her chips, showing a dreamy expression. He was really cool. The year she first saw him, he was in a black suit with an earpiece, commanding hundreds of strong-bodied security guards during a financial conference essential to the economy, and he seemed so composed, she couldn’t take her eyes off him.

“Sis, you still haven’t answered me. Is Joshua Hughes courting you?” Eliza Bell offered Avery Jane some chips, which she took absent-mindedly, slowly eating them.

“Probably…” That should count. There wasn’t a pleasant atmosphere in the car yesterday, but Joshua’s words seemed to suggest he wanted her back by his side. Yet it didn’t feel like courtship, more like orders; pursuing a girl isn’t like that. So she could only use the word “probably.”

Avery Jane had this kind of personality; if she said “probably,” then it certainly was. Joshua Hughes was more suitable than Beckett Wright to be a brother-in-law, not because Joshua was wealthier, but because a woman like Sis should have the strongest man to protect her, to create her world. She could tell Sis was probably more attracted to Joshua, because her eyes revealed different emotions when talking about him, whereas with Beckett Wright it was as simple and clear as water.
