Chapter 1050: Chapter 544: Do You Really Love Her? Will You Marry Her?

“I suppose so…” That should count, right? Yesterday things weren’t pleasant in the car, but from what he said, he wants her back by his side. Yet it feels more like an order rather than pursuing her. Chasing a girl isn’t supposed to be like that, so she can only use the word ‘probably’.

With Avery Jane’s personality, if she says “I suppose so,” then it means she definitely does. Joshua Hughes is much more suitable than Beckett Wright to be her brother-in-law, not because Joshua is wealthier, but a woman like her sister deserves the strongest man to protect her, to create her own sky.

Moreover, she can tell that her sister likely has more feelings for Joshua Hughes because each time her sister mentions Joshua, there’s a different emotion in her eyes, whereas with Beckett, it’s as simple and clean as clear water.

“How could it be, it’s not,” Avery stated firmly. Doing those things with Joshua Hughes would be suicidal.

“Okay, let’s sleep. Today was too exhausting, and I have to go to Beckett’s studio first thing in the morning,” Avery rushed into her room as if escaping, like a rabbit dashing in, then slammed the door shut.

Sitting on the sofa, Eliza Bell continued to snack with a smug smile on her lips. She’ll be busy tomorrow too…

————————————-Separator——————————–

All the media described it this way: the newly launched Hughes Clan Tower injects the city’s heart as a powerful adrenaline shot. The city’s heart is nothing but all the economic data, and Hughes Clan’s launch will undoubtedly bring massive progress to the city’s economy.

Eliza Bell stood outside, gazing at the grandiose tower with a silver-grey exterior that is discreetly stylish and luxurious. Such decoration is undoubtedly beautiful, albeit costly. Seems like Joshua Hughes really isn’t a man short on money.

“Do you have an appointment?” The receptionist didn’t dare to underestimate the woman claiming to look for the president.

Her attire is all spring’s new styles this year. Such styles can only be seen in the fashion show videos online, yet as Fashion Week just started, she’s already wearing clothes that make young girls’ hearts flutter from cut to design and patterns—definitely not knock-offs from online stores. Already adept from working in such a big company, it’s her practiced eyes that can tell the authenticity. Particularly, the flawless jade tower pearl necklace around her neck speaks volumes of her affluent background; its price is beyond guessing.

“No appointment, but you can tell Joshua Hughes that my sister needs to find him.” Her bright eyes flowed, and the lingering tone made one’s heart tremble slightly.

Checking the time, Eliza Bell expected to be in Joshua Hughes’ office in less than ten minutes. The thought made the corners of her mouth curl up, elegantly tucking her curls and adjusting her stance.

Sure enough, someone respectfully invited her to proceed to the CEO’s special elevator—a direct one. Watching the elevator ascend layer by layer, her smile deepened.

“Ding”—the elevator doors opened, and in the distance, she saw the man like an iceberg, sleeves rolled up, carrying a pile of files walking over. Upon seeing her, he stood expressionlessly.

“Why are you here?” He merely owed her one night. Is this woman crazy? She persistently found her way here. He intended to meet her, but in the past days, he was nearly too busy for eating and had forgotten this matter. But why couldn’t she just wait a little longer?

The click of her high heels echoed, her eyes seductive enough to drip water as she walked, her slender waist swaying like willow touching, causing an irresistible itch.

“I’m here for President Hughes, not you…” Her voice drifting like silk and mist, carrying an indelible charm, as her fingers lightly brushed against his shirt, pausing at his chest.

“Your heart rate has increased…” She smiled like a spirit from ancient times beguiling a foolish scholar in the night, twisting her waist as she went into Joshua Hughes’ office.

The man holding the files stood there like a frozen statue, with only the spot where her fingers grazed remaining with a soft warmth.

“President Hughes, we might be considered acquaintances, though we haven’t had the chance to meet until now.” Boldly seated in Joshua Hughes’ office with a splendid view, negotiating conditions with a man like him would likely leave one utterly devoured, but that’s others; others don’t have a sister named Avery Jane. But with this sister, she’s holding an ace. Today, coming isn’t entirely selfish; she wants to test how much Joshua truly likes her sister, more precisely, how deep his feelings run.

“Does Avery Jane have an issue?” Joshua Hughes’s lips were faintly pressed, honestly enduring since yesterday, but his patience was nearing its limit.

“She’s fine. It’s me who needs help.” Eliza Bell smiled sweetly at the man seated in the swivel chair, commanding an unparalleled aura of authority.

“I doubt Miss Bell has any issues Hughes could assist with?” Joshua Hughes looked at Eliza Bell. These two sisters, how could their personalities differ so vastly?

Avery Jane is stubborn, slightly timid, somewhat obstinate, kind-hearted, and not very cunning—perhaps not at all. But Eliza Bell at a glance doesn’t seem like an easygoing woman; seems like Julian Carter might be in for some trouble.

“That depends on the aspect, specifically speaking, right now, it’s only you who can assist me. Similarly, I can resolve some of your troubles…” Relationship-wise, Avery and she aren’t very familial, merely reliant on each other; her sister’s personality still is a bit too soft, mostly listening to her. So Joshua Hughes would definitely have use for her if he truly likes her sister.

“I’d love to hear the details…” When discussing conditions, he never takes the initiative, preferring to wait till the opponent lays everything on the table, facilitating clarity regarding whether their stakes hold worth.

“Do you like my sister?” Eliza Bell asked straightforwardly; this point she needed confirmed.

“Does this relate to today’s discussion?” Joshua Hughes shrugged, lazily leaning back into the black swivel chair, his expression indifferent, concealing his thoughts.

“Of course it does. Do you like her or not? If not, I might approach Beckett.” Eliza Bell made a bold move; using Beckett shouldn’t be considered despicable, right?

The man in the swivel chair, upon hearing Beckett’s name, remained expressionless. Yet, the atmosphere grew cold, as if spring’s bright wind outside the expansive floor-to-ceiling windows were froze by the chill, the air thinning to a suffocating extent…

“State what you want straightforwardly; playing tricks won’t gain you any advantage with me.” Joshua Hughes suppressed his fury; she was Avery Jane’s sister, he didn’t want to let her down, yet she tactlessly mentioned Beckett’s name here, hearing which made him fuming enough to want to kill.

“Alright, if I help you get my sister, you must give me your assistant.” Eliza Bell spoke candidly; her little tricks before him indeed yielded little, so she directly requested the person from Joshua Hughes.

“How can you help?” Joshua Hughes squinted a bit. This deal seems feasible, yet he needs to confirm whether Eliza Bell truly contributes anything useful. Avery Jane, while timid, still possesses some independence. Her sometimes conflicting temperament makes it so troublesome. When timid, stubbornness sets in; when defiant, hints of trepidation emerge. However, no matter her state, she’s the beloved one.

“Do you genuinely like my sister, in a true sense? Will you marry her?” Eliza Bell candidly gazed at Joshua Hughes; if this man only lusted after Avery Jane’s beauty, whatever Julian Carter meant to her wouldn’t matter. Because affection and love cannot be exchanged equivalently; lacking either is a no-go. Should she sacrifice her sister’s happiness for her love, that’s absolutely something she wouldn’t do.

“Certainly, if she agrees.” He indeed wants to marry her, aching with desire, yet acknowledging Avery Jane’s temperament probably won’t agree, at least not now.
