With his eyes closed, he suppressed the bloodshot threads in his eyes. After such a beautiful night, he now had to start hearing these irritating things. The past was really annoying, and it was likely that the news from back then would soon be dug up again—a tycoon and an official’s son fighting over the top girl, blood dyeing the nightclub—once more becoming the talk over tea and meals. This suffocating feeling was like a big hand tightly gripping his heart, making it hard for him to breathe, as if he was about to be suffocated alive...

"Boss?" Julian Carter looked at Joshua Hughes sitting there with his eyes closed, handsome face pale: "Can’t we have Miss Jane give you her eight percent of shares now? As long as your shares exceed fifty percent, then whatever decision you make won’t be questioned, no one can say anything to you, and we can win this case without a lawyer. Because all Hughes Clan shareholders have an agreement, whoever holds more than half of the shares can do whatever they like." This isn’t hard to handle; it’s just that the boss seems reluctant to talk to Miss Jane about this.

Let her help him? Every man’s heart has a strong sense of pride, especially a man like Joshua Hughes. He’s supposed to support her, take care of everything for her, not the other way around. And if he asks her for control of the shares, if she misunderstands and thinks he got close to her because he knew she was a shareholder, he’d never be able to explain that clearly.

Julian Carter watched Joshua Hughes not speaking for a long time, frowned, and asked: "Are you even listening?"

"Got it." The low voice bore no emotion. What does ’got it’ mean? Is he going to talk to Miss Jane or not? He needs a definite answer—if he’s going to ask, then he can leisurely drink coffee in the office for a few days. If not, then he’ll likely be so busy he can’t even sit for a moment.

The morning light was beautiful, and it was already the cusp of spring and summer. The leaves were green enough to make one’s heart skip. The apartment Eliza Bell rented was in a great environment, not far from where she worked. In the morning, Eliza would drive her to Beckett Wright’s studio and then drive herself to her art gallery.

White tight jeans, and a deep blue, loose blouse, its hem tucked into the jeans, fresh and youthful like the newly grown green leaves on the trees.

Eliza Bell cast a glance: "Sis, can’t you undo two buttons?" Unable to stand it any longer, she reached over to undo two of Avery Jane’s blouse buttons, revealing a beautiful collarbone and a small patch of alluring chest. There seemed to be some faint marks, almost indistinct...

"Eliza, I’ll just take the bus myself. You drive me every day, it’s such a hassle." Avery Jane admired Eliza Bell for being able to walk briskly in twelve-inch heels.

The bus? You must be joking; you’re almost a super-rich woman now. You have eight percent of Hughes Clan shares, and if nothing else works, you could fly to Las Vegas once a month. If you want to take the bus, I bet Joshua Hughes would open a private route for you. Can he bear seeing you on a crowded bus, occasionally touched and squeezed by those vile uncles?

Eliza Bell had a serious case of waking-up grumpiness, something Avery Jane discovered after living with her for a while.

What’s for breakfast then?

The two stepped out of the elevator as Avery Jane pondered what to have for breakfast, her eyes unconsciously drawn away. Below the apartment, a car was parked—it was familiar, Joshua Hughes’ car. He stood by the car door, and upon seeing her, his charming mouth curved into a graceful, captivating smile.

He enjoyed such mornings, waiting downstairs, knowing that his most beloved woman would surely appear. This waiting felt good, no matter how long it took, it was sweet.
