Eliza Bell kept her head down, rummaging through her bag for the car keys, responding without looking up, "KFC. I want a cruller egg roll, some rich soy milk, and a hash brown. Not sure if they have popcorn chicken this early."

Her small hand rummaged chaotically through her bag until she finally found them. When she looked up, she saw Joshua Hughes standing there.

Her heart skipped a beat. Had the ice-cold guy arrived? Did he hear her say she wanted to eat such a tasteless breakfast like KFC? She should’ve suggested we have a cup of organic fruit juice and a sandwich or something, but it seemed there was no need; it was just Joshua Hughes by himself.

Her face betrayed her by blushing a bit, but fortunately, she had something to ask him about and walked over.

"Yesterday—yesterday, did you find my necklace?" In his office, there shouldn’t be any problem, right? Beckett spent a long time crafting it, and he lent it to her to wear. It would be a huge issue if it got lost.

"No, I didn’t see it." Joshua Hughes stroked her small face with his large hand and bent down to give her a good morning kiss on her lips.

"How can that be? You were the one who undid it!" Avery Jane looked at him with wide eyes. He’s so wealthy, surely he wouldn’t overlook a necklace?

"The office was a bit messy yesterday, and the sofa was a bit dirty too; a cleaner came up to clean it. Could it have been thrown away as trash?" Joshua Hughes shrugged indifferently, "I’ll buy you a new one, okay? I’ll take you to choose one later. The old mansion has plenty of jewelry; you can pick whatever you like, and any piece would be worth hundreds of times more than that ’Spread the Word.’"

:"That’s not mine; that belongs to Beckett. He said it matched my dress well, so he lent it to me." Avery Jane’s face fell; what could she do now? She should’ve retrieved it yesterday immediately.

"No need to worry; we’ll compensate him." Joshua Hughes glanced at Eliza Bell, and Eliza realized that this man’s gaze could change really fast. Moments ago, he gazed at Avery Jane with overflowing tenderness, and now his eyes turned cold and indifferent when looking at her. She quickly understood his intention.

Thinking of Julian Carter’s service contract, she immediately put on a flattering smile, "Hey sis, since President Hughes is here to pick you up, go ahead and take his car. I have some urgent matters to attend to. Oh, by the way, sis was thinking of having a KFC breakfast, so have a great meal!" She grabbed her big bag, her high heels clicking on the ground, with her slender waist swaying slightly in a seductive and alluring manner.

"It’s not nutritious; let’s eat something else, shall we?" Joshua Hughes grasped her soft little hand, wrapped his arm around her waist, and walked her to his car, opening the door for her to get in. Avery Jane, seemingly unaware and without any resistance, was pulled into his embrace. She initially felt a tinge of hesitation and resistance, but the warmth emanating from his broad chest was enticing, and that sliver of reluctance vanished into the morning breeze.

"I still want KFC," Avery Jane insisted firmly. Getting to know each other anew, he should know what her life was like before. She wanted him to arrange everything, even though she knew he’d take her to eat something delicious, with plenty of choices, and probably an expensive breakfast. But she still didn’t want that. She wanted both of them to be like any ordinary people, driving to KFC for a simple, quick breakfast before the morning rush hour, just like couples in this city who feel happy just sharing an egg roll.

"Alright, whatever you say is fine....... " He liked her being like this and enjoyed the simple and joyful atmosphere between them today.

A variety of food was laid out on the brown tray as Joshua Hughes watched her come over happily, placing the tray on the table.

:"Joshua Hughes, this is probably your first time eating KFC?" Avery Jane looked at Joshua Hughes. They were sitting by the glass, with girls walking down the street unable to resist stealing glances at him. A man like him, noble, cool, and dazzling, was indeed somewhat out of place at such an approachable KFC.

:"Mm." He watched her busy little hands open the lid. It was a cup of soy milk, and he squinted and took a sip, seeming quite satisfied.

:"Why do you like eating this?" Joshua Hughes watched her eat happily. Affected by her joy, he opened his own cup and took a sip.
