Chapter 259: Chapter 158: The Fierce Beast Appears, the First Boss Battle

In the end, he unexpectedly conjured a warhorse out of pure Light Element, vaulted onto its back, and his speed surged once more.

He raised his Knight’s Lance high and let out a deep, solemn warcry. "Armory of Light, open!"

The moment he spoke, half of the melee units in the Light Elf legion behind him actually began to float into the air.

They then quickly broke down and reformed, transforming into over a hundred weapons forged from Light Element.

Spears, swords, sabers, axes, halberds... a dense array of them hung suspended in mid-air, as brilliant as a sky full of stars.

"Holy shit, the King’s Treasury?"

Shen Xing, who was directing the battle from the side, exclaimed in shock, his eyes practically glued to the scene.

’Man, I’m actually a little jealous.’

’How fucking cool is that?’

"SWOOSH! SWOOSH SWOOSH SWOOSH!"

The Knight Commander pointed his lance, and all the Light Element weapons shot forth. They plunged deep into the enemy ranks, erupting in a series of dazzling explosions of light.

Countless Dragon Tomb Watchers were pierced through or sent flying by the blasts.

After hitting their targets, the weapons transformed back into Light Elf Warriors, who brandished their own weapons and continued the slaughter.

At this point, they had completely secured their footing on the main battlefield.

Even though they were outnumbered several times over, the explosive power of their top commanders and the coordination between Soldier Types sent the enemy army fleeing in disarray.

Shen Xing spared a moment of his attention to watch. After confirming there were no issues, he refocused on the battle with the boss.

By now, the Dragon Blood Burrowing Worm had endured two volleys from Reina and the Inferior Demon Legion. Its carapace was damaged in many places, revealing the pale white skeleton beneath.

Just then, the monster raised its sharp forelimbs again.

Having learned from their previous experience, Hellish Roar and Hei, who were locked in fierce combat with the beast, prepared to run toward the giant worm’s base without waiting for their Lord’s command.

Black Arrow instantly fired several Frost Arrows to slow the giant worm’s Attack Speed.

But just then, Shen Xing sensed something was wrong and quickly shouted a warning.

"It’s an Earth Spike attack! You can’t dodge it!"

"Hei, cast [Black Moon Shield] on yourself and Hellish Roar!"

The two commanders immediately halted, their expressions shifting slightly.

Hei raised his Demon Shadow Sword, and the black moon above his head began to spin faster.

A pitch-black shield rose like flowing water, completely enveloping the two of them.

"PFFT! PFFT!"

Two enormous bone spikes erupted from the ground, instantly piercing the shield and flinging the pair high into the air.

Fortunately, the shield had absorbed most of the damage, and they only suffered minor scrapes.

As they landed, the two turned to look at the figure in the wheelchair, their gazes filled with admiration.

They knew that if it weren’t for their Lord’s repeated, timely commands, they would have been gravely injured by now.

Before anyone could make a move, the monster suddenly opened its massive, chrysanthemum-shaped maw, and a ball of ghastly green fire began to form in its throat.

Shen Xing’s heart sank. He knew this was the giant worm’s [Soul-Piercing Roar], which came with a mass Control Effect.

"Black Arrow, Extreme Freeze Arrow! Interrupt it!"

The Skeleton Archer behind him instantly drew his bowstring. A powerful blast of cold air erupted, covering the ground for a hundred meters around in a layer of white frost.

In the next instant, all of that cold energy converged on the arrow in his hand, like a hundred rivers flowing into the sea.

"THWIP!"

A crystalline arrow struck the target at a speed almost impossible to follow with the naked eye.

With a loud BANG, the intense freezing power contained within the arrow exploded, completely encasing more than half of the giant worm’s body in ice.

Nearby, Hellish Roar leaped high into the air. His War Axe, wreathed in black Doomsday Fire, came crashing down on the monster’s open mouth.

"BOOM!!!"

A pillar of black fire erupted skyward. The giant worm shrieked in pain, its massive body stumbling back several steps.

The crisis was averted.

Shen Xing breathed a sigh of relief, inwardly thankful.

’Thankfully, the Black Dragon Monarch provided some assistance, allowing me to see the monster’s Skills in advance. That’s how I could predict its moves based on its casting tells.’

’Otherwise, even if we could win, it wouldn’t have been this easy.’

The rhythm of the battle was once again brought under their Control.

The three commanders—Hellish Roar, Hei, and Black Arrow—worked in tandem to keep the giant worm pinned down.

Reina led the Inferior Demon Legion, unleashing a constant barrage of firepower from the rear.

After two or three more minutes of intense fighting, the battle was finally drawing to a close.

During that time, the giant worm had unleashed numerous other Skills.

These included [Earth-Sinking Vortex], which created a massive sinkhole, and [Insect Swarm Summoning], which called forth a large number of Elite larvae.

But Shen Xing predicted and promptly neutralized every one of them.

Likewise, Reina found openings to hit it with several consecutive rounds of bombardment.

’I have to say, this thing is ridiculously tough.’

’Any other Tier Three Leader would have been blasted to bits by now after taking that much concentrated fire.’

’But this thing somehow still has energy.’

’But it’s also reaching its limit.’

The giant worm’s body was covered in charred craters. It swayed unsteadily, looking as if it couldn’t hold on for much longer.

Shen Xing estimated that one more wave of concentrated fire would be enough to finish it off for good.

But just then, the giant worm suddenly ceased all its attacks. It retracted its forelimbs to its chest and curled its massive body into a ball.

Its cold eyes swept over the group before its massive body abruptly sank, burrowing deep into the earth without any warning.

Everyone lost their target, and the battlefield fell silent.

"Stay alert," Shen Xing said, his voice low. "It’ll most likely attack us from underground!"

Hearing this, the commanders went on high alert, gripping their weapons tightly.

But what they hadn’t expected was that the giant worm’s first attack wasn’t aimed at the primary combatants like Hellish Roar, but at the Inferior Demons in the rear.

Two enormous bone spikes shot out of the ground like lightning. With a PFFT, two Inferior Demons were impaled and dragged deep underground before they could even scream.

Reina and Black Arrow reacted instantly, simultaneously blasting the spot with Fireballs and the Ice Arrow Technique, but they were a step too slow.

The creature was too fast; it retreated the moment its attack landed.

The battlefield fell silent once more.

After a moment, Shen Xing heard the faint sound of rushing air.

He whipped his head around just in time to see two more bone spikes shoot silently from the ground, dragging another two Inferior Demons away.

’Fast. It’s too fast!’

’The entire process is silent. From erupting from the ground to dragging them under, it takes less than a second.’

This elusive hunting method was enough to send a chill down anyone’s spine.

What was more unsettling was that as the giant worm continued its hunt, dragging soldiers underground for Devouring, they could clearly sense its weakened aura rapidly recovering.

Shen Xing took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down.

’He knew that in a situation like this, the last thing you could afford to do was panic.’

’There had to be an opening somewhere.’

Beside him, Reina and Xia Wanyin also focused their senses. The perceptions of the three spread out like an invisible spiderweb, carefully searching for the slightest vibration from underground.

Suddenly, Xia Wanyin spoke up. "Shen Xing! Forty-five meters, behind you and to the right!"

"Hei, the chains!"

Shen Xing issued the command instantly, without a second thought.

"PFFT! WHOOSH!"

Two bone spikes and a pitch-black chain shot out at the same time.

The bone spikes pierced the bodies of two Inferior Demons, but Hei’s chain also plunged deep into the earth and struck its target.

"HISSS!!"

A piercing hiss came from deep underground, and the black earth in that area began to churn violently.

Everyone’s hearts leaped with joy. They had finally snagged the creature.
