Campus Ace Girl
Chapter 1280: It’s Him, Doesn’t Want a Divorce
Chu Ci let out a cold laugh, “Then just assume I’m not human!”
He stared at Song Yunfei, speaking lightly and coolly, “If you think you can achieve anything by using my mother to give birth to this child, then you’re gravely mistaken. Whether you give birth or not, this child will not bear the Chu surname.”
Mrs. Chu was furious, “Chu Ci, what if I tell you to divorce Zhao Mo Ran?”
She was eager for a grandchild and was further annoyed by her son’s firm stance, thus becoming even more averse to that daughter-in-law. In her eyes, Zhao Mo Ran was no different from the Song Yunfei before her; though Mo Ran’s background was somewhat better, her family now also depended on Chu Ci, making them essentially the same.
Mrs. Chu conceived the idea, originally intending to scare her son a bit, but regretted it upon speaking. However, thinking it through, she realized it might not be a bad idea, at least Song Yunfei seemed easily manageable.
When she finished speaking, Chu Ci stared at his mother, his voice deep and slow, “Mom, do you really wish to see me unhappy? You didn’t like Yan Yan, and I accepted that, I missed out. And now you want me to miss out on Mo Ran too? Do you wish to separate us?”
Mrs. Chu frowned, “Don’t tell me you’ve fallen in love with her, Chu Ci? Weren’t you… unable to forget Yan Yan, and Yunfei looks so much like her…”
Chu Ci could barely bear it anymore, “Mom!”
Mrs. Chu also got angry, “Chu Ci, Yunfei is carrying your child!”
Just as Chu Ci was about to speak, someone rushed in through the door—it was none other than Chu Changhe.
Chu Changhe had been away for a few days and only just received the news, hurriedly returning home without expecting to see this scene, which made him angry. He first sternly asked his son, “What’s going on?”
Then he added, “Is this child really yours?”
Chu Ci didn’t want to deny it, so he just squinted his eyes. Chu Changhe wished he could thrash his son but realized the situation needed handling. Looking at Song Yunfei, he asked softly, “Miss Song, are you really pregnant?”
“Yes.” Song Yunfei replied obediently.
Chu Changhe sighed internally, then said, “Is it really Chu Ci’s child?”
Song Yunfei’s heart skipped a beat, but she quickly steadied herself, “Yes, it’s been two months.”
Being experienced, Chu Changhe glanced at her belly calmly, “Well, just now Chu Ci made himself clear, their marital relationship is very good, so it’s inconvenient to keep this child. I’m suggesting Miss Song to comply, if not, state a condition, any reasonable demand can be met as a compensation from Chu Ci.”
He felt any smart young girl would know how to choose—perhaps two apartments in Beicheng or several storefronts would provide a lifetime of comfort, but surprisingly, Song Yunfei was too greedy and directly refused. She spoke softly yet firmly, “I want to give birth to this child.”
Upon hearing this, Chu Changhe was naturally displeased. He patted his pant legs and sat down, with the maid immediately pouring him a cup of tea. After taking a sip, he said lightly, “The Chu family is also of notable standing. I don’t want Chu Ci to divorce, moreover, he and Mo Ran are doing very well together, no need to split for a child. Besides, the Chu family already has a grandson.”
At this, Mrs. Chu interjected, “This child is Chu Ci’s biological child, it must be born.”
Chu Changhe’s expression was unreadable, “Born for whom?”
He adopted a more resolute tone, “In any case, let the kids sort it out! Just because you want a grandson doesn’t mean you disregard Mo Ran’s feelings. How awkward would it be for her if this child is born?”
Mrs. Chu mumbled, “Isn’t this quite normal in our circle?”
This time, Chu Changhe was infuriated, “Then should I also take a mistress and have a child, would you not care either?”
Not to mention his child, she couldn’t even stand one Yan Yan. How could she expect Mo Ran to accept a child from someone with the surname Song? And besides, in his view, the child might not even be Chu Ci’s. Chu Ci himself had doubts, but as for now…they couldn’t figure out whose it was. Yet, just in case it was, after all, Chu Ci’s…
After finishing, Mrs. Chu was silent for a moment before saying, “But the child is here, it has to be born.”
Her expression carried a touch of melancholy, intended to manipulate her husband and son with her illness. Having been a couple for many years, how could Chu Changhe not understand, he let out a cold laugh, “This issue isn’t yours to decide, I’ll only ask Miss Song… Chu Ci has already made his stance clear, are you determined to be the third party and ruin their marriage?”
Song Yunfei clenched her fingers, “I don’t want any status, nor to have anything further with Chu Ci. I only wish to safely give birth to this child, and then have a safe place for the child to grow up.”
This statement greatly moved Mrs. Chu, who patted her hand, “Alright, I know you’re obedient.”
After finishing, she looked at Chu Ci, “You heard her, Yunfei is very sensible, at least more so than the one in your family. Has Mo Ran visited me in the two or three months since giving birth? Even if she didn’t, fine, but every time I visit, she is cold and indifferent… truly ill-fated, even if I have this daughter-in-law, it’s as if I don’t.”
Chu Ci’s heart turned cold, while Chu Changhe was about to speak, Chu Ci stopped him.
Chu Changhe frowned, “Let me speak with your mom.”
“No need,” Chu Ci chuckled lightly, “Let’s do as mom wishes, the child can be born, but I won’t take responsibility, nor spend a penny, as long as Miss Song doesn’t mind the child being fatherless forever, let her give birth.”
Chu Changhe disagreed, “Your wife won’t accept that.”
Chu Ci mocked himself with a smile, “With this situation, Dad, do you think she even cares whether she agrees or not? She hates me now, wishing for me to divorce.”
It was him who kept holding on to her, it was him who accidentally fell in love.
