Chapter 1281: I Only Want the Child You Bear!

  • Next Chapter

Chu Ci spoke, but Chu Changhe disagreed: “That doesn’t mean you can act recklessly because of this.”

He seemed to make a decision: “The child absolutely cannot stay.”

Mrs. Chu was displeased: “Changhe, don’t you want to show me some respect? This could be the first grandchild of the Chu Family.”

“We have Xiao Xunxun.” Chu Changhe said, annoyed: “Don’t talk about this matter anymore; it’s not up for discussion.”

He turned his head and said to Song Yunfei: “Miss Song is not part of the Chu Family, it’s really inconvenient for her to stay in the Chu Family. So, I’ll arrange a place for Miss Song to stay, and when you’ve figured out what to do, let me know.”

“Changhe.” Mrs. Chu was anxious.

But she had barely started speaking when Chu Changhe interrupted her, “Shut up!”

Mrs. Chu was stunned. In thirty years of marriage, he had never been so rude to her, so she couldn’t accept it now. Tears welled up in her eyes for a long moment, and she looked at Mrs. Chu, who wanted to stand up for her but was somewhat intimidated by her husband’s anger. So, she could only suppress her temper momentarily and gently comforted: “Yunfei, just follow your uncle’s advice… Everyone can’t accept this right now, but given time…”

Seeing her writing checks again, Chu Changhe naturally got angry once more: “Don’t do that; don’t give people hope in hopeless situations.”

He spoke calmly to Song Yunfei: “Think about it, you’re still young and there’s no need to be entangled with Chu Ci. Besides, I don’t think you two are meant to be together.”

After saying that, he signaled someone to take Song Yunfei to a villa. He had a purpose for such an arrangement; he knew his son’s temperament well, claiming to let go but possibly arranging for the child to be forcibly handled at the hospital. Instead of letting the situation escalate later, it was better for her to retreat now. Seeing this arrangement, Chu Ci gave his father a glance.

Chu Changhe also glanced at his son before addressing his wife: “That’s how it’s going to be!”

Mrs. Chu hesitated, but after Chu Ci left, she discontentedly said: “Chu Ci and Mo Ran might not divorce, but after all this child is our grandchild.”

Chu Changhe calmly drank tea, spoke slowly: “Are you sure it’s your grandchild? I see this girl’s demeanor as rather frivolous. If she were proper, she wouldn’t be entangled with someone like Chu Ci, a married man, nor scheme to become pregnant for gain. You should consider whom you want as a grandchild. If it’s genuinely a child Chu Ci insisted on, let it be. But if the girl harbors ulterior motives, how would you explain that? Wouldn’t you be hindering Chu Ci’s happiness again?”

His words struck a sensitive spot with Mrs. Chu, who quieted down for a while, feeling distressed: “Are you blaming me? But it’s not Yan Yan’s fault either. Even after she came back, I agreed to their relationship and even pleaded with her. If the blade won’t turn around, what can I do? I can’t force them together, can I?”

Chu Changhe sneered: “Back then Yan Yan already had a boyfriend, and Bai Xun is our relative from the Chu Family. It’s amazing you even considered that.”

Besides, the Chu Family owes Yan Yan, so how could they pressure her again for Chu Ci… Chu Changhe’s thoughts were conflicted, and he couldn’t help but miss his younger daughter. After all, he had raised her for many years, yet they’ve been apart for years now. She’s in Beicheng but they can’t visit often… now seeing her once or twice a year is difficult.

Thinking of this, Chu Changhe felt a pang of sadness just as Mrs. Chu was still complaining. He straightforwardly headed upstairs when Mrs. Chu called to him: “You can’t just leave, you need to explain about the child.”

Chu Changhe was irritated: “Who got her pregnant, go ask them to explain. Haven’t I cleaned up enough already?”

Mrs. Chu cried, showing signs of depression, but he couldn’t be bothered to deal with it.

For so many years, not just for Chu Ci but for himself, he too was tired. They sacrificed Chu Ci and Chu Yan’s happiness, barely settling down before this erupted again…had it not been for considering her feelings, he’d have taken that Song girl to the hospital by now.

Chu Changhe, angered, and seeing Mrs. Chu not achieving her goal, she sat there crying. He paused his steps and looked downstairs. On other days he might console her, but today’s emotion was too much, so he directly continued upstairs… leaving Mrs. Chu even more distressed.

Upstairs, Chu Changhe still called Chu Ci, exchanged a few words indicating he should handle this.

Chu Ci calmly replied while driving: “I’ll give it two months.”

Chu Changhe stayed silent for a moment, then sighed: “Chu Ci, I know you’ve been generous to your mom, but she really is obstinate… I’ll try to persuade her.”

Chu Ci hung up the phone, pondered for a moment, and drove back to the villa. When he drove into the villa, dusk had already set in. He exited the car and entered the villa, finding it quiet, the servants cautious: “Sir, you’re back.”

Before he could ask, they promptly said: “Madam has been upstairs.”

Chu Ci looked up for a while before ascending the stairs, first heading to the master bedroom.

Zhao Mo Ran wasn’t there, Xiao Xunxun wasn’t there either. Chu Ci scanned the room, then proceeded towards the art studio suspecting she’d be there. Sure enough, she was, along with Xiao Xunxun who slept on the crib nearby.

Chu Ci approached while Zhao Mo Ran continued painting without looking up. He could tell she knew he’d arrived, choosing to ignore him. Chu Ci, not speaking first, took time to play with his daughter at the crib, though, she too ignored him, flipping over to sleep soundly. Helpless, Chu Ci withdrew his hand. Upon looking up, he found Zhao Mo Ran setting aside her brush to quietly study him.

He chuckled awkwardly: “Finally willing to acknowledge me?”

She first remained silent then lightly spoke: “Does your mother wish for Song Yunfei to keep the child?”

Chu Ci moved closer, leaned against the bookshelf beside her, and smirked: “Yes, but I won’t let the child be born unless it’s proven the child isn’t mine.”

Chu Ci wasn’t stupid, but it was just two months into the pregnancy making tests premature, hence he gave Song Yunfei two months before considering amniocentesis if she refuses later.

Zhao Mo Ran raised her eyes to him.

Chu Ci quietly gazed back, later speaking huskily: “Upset? Or planning on not forgiving me?”

“You’re overestimating me.” She laughed lightly, self-deprecating: “What right do I have to forgive or not forgive…”

She lowered her gaze, her voice slightly low: “I only have one request.”

“Go on.” Chu Ci’s pulse quickened, unsure of her request.

Zhao Mo Ran raised her eyes again: “If you don’t want a divorce, I don’t want Xunxun to have a half-sibling.”

Implying she doesn’t accept his illegitimate child.

Actually, Chu Ci wasn’t focused on the child outside either, but her statement led him to tease: “What, favored so much that you’re emboldened?”

Taking a step forward, before she could retreat, he softly glanced her cheek, chuckling: “Don’t worry, I won’t want the child from outside.”

Then his fingers brushed over her lips: “You seem to easily conceive.”
