Campus Ace Girl
Chapter 1283: A Little Ugly, But Smells Nice
She didn’t lift her eyes, and spoke softly, “There’s still a little more.”
Chu Ci walked over and stood by her side, watching for a while… Her painting was indeed quite good. Although there was still a gap compared to masters, it was considered excellent for her age.
He was somewhat surprised, and then expressed a hint of admiration, “You like painting so much, maybe I should organize an art exhibit for you someday.”
“No need.” She glanced at him, “It’s just a hobby, to pass the time. Really organizing an exhibit, first, I’m not that famous, and second, it would be very tiring.”
She wanted to spend her time on the child…
As she spoke, Chu Ci listened, her voice was calm and amiable. Before, he only thought she was gentle but lacked individuality. However, now his feelings were different; he thought there was a beauty in her tranquility.
Chu Ci spoke, his voice slightly hoarse: “Okay, as long as it makes you happy.”
While speaking, he gazed at her profile. She continued to paint but did not ignore his burning gaze. After a while, she couldn’t help but speak, “Chu Ci, you wait for me downstairs.”
He, however, sat down patiently and said, “I’ll just wait here.”
With this, she couldn’t paint anymore. She put down the brush gently and said, “I’ll go check on Xunxun, I’ll be down in a moment.”
Yet as she moved, her hand was grabbed by him, and Chu Ci’s voice was low: “Stay with me for a while.”
She paused, looking at him, just as she was about to say something, Chu Ci stopped her: “Never mind, go check on Xunxun, I’ll wait for you downstairs.”
Saying this, he left. She watched his back, always feeling he was a bit strange. However, she didn’t think deeply about it, but simply fed Xunxun and tidied herself before going downstairs.
Tonight’s dinner was particularly prosperous, probably because Chu Ci was home. He wasn’t often at home, so she wasn’t particularly sure what he liked to eat. After sitting down, Chu Ci put down his phone and looked at her, “Xunxun is sleeping again.”
She nodded, “Yes, she needs to sleep more than 15 hours every day.”
“Is she a pig?” Chu Ci frowned, “Could this be a problem?”
“Children her age are like this.” She pursed her lips and said, perhaps she was a little displeased that he called their daughter a pig.
Chu Ci didn’t get angry, only served her some food.
Zhao Mo Ran glanced up at him silently, ate without any other expression, and Chu Ci’s eyes darkened.
With someone else, they would have been ecstatic. He rarely tended to others, but she didn’t even glance at him, not taking him seriously…
The rest of the evening, he always felt her coldness, regretting putting Xunxun in their bedroom because she always found excuses, always focused on the child, thereby neglecting him.
He was dissatisfied. After she finished with the child, he embraced her waist from behind, resting his chin on her shoulder, his voice raspy, “Let the servants take her at night; otherwise, you’ll be too tired every day.”
Zhao Mo Ran had been his wife for a year, so she knew what he was thinking. Her body paused, and she spoke softly, “I’ll accompany you.”
Chu Ci tightened his hold on her, breathing warmly by her ear, “Really? Not angry?”
Her voice trembled a little, “There’s nothing to be angry about.”
She broke away from him, “I’m going to take a shower.”
He wouldn’t allow it, somewhat assertively holding her, turning her head to force a kiss…
Late night.
Zhao Mo Ran got up gently, went to the crib, and saw Xunxun was awake, looking at her with its small eyes. She smiled tenderly and picked up the little one, sat on the sofa, unbuttoned her nightgown, and soothed, “Hungry?”
Naturally, Xiao Xunxun couldn’t speak, just greedily clung to its mother… Though September wasn’t very cold, the nights were a bit chilly, especially with her body uncovered. After Xunxun finished eating, she buttoned her clothes again and soothed the little girl for a while.
After eating to satisfaction, the little one closed its eyes, its small feet comfortably stretching out, almost exposing its little belly, looking… adorably silly.
Zhao Mo Ran felt a surge of satisfaction, couldn’t help but kiss her, then covered her with a little blanket, finally straightening herself with contentment… But at that moment, she bumped into a solid body, turning, sure enough, it was Chu Ci. She breathed a sigh of relief, “It’s you.”
“Who else?” He held her hand, “Why up at midnight? This little one fussing?”
“Not really fussing, just needs a meal at night.” She said softly, “I’m used to it.”
Chu Ci lightly touched her face, his palm brushing against soft lashes, the moment they touched, he felt a slight tenderness, actually, his wife was just a delicate woman… Her appearance and figure were exactly to his liking.
With his heart racing, Chu Ci pressed her shoulders down and lowered his head to kiss her. As she stirred slightly, he spoke huskily, “Don’t move, I’ll just kiss for a while… it’s late…”
She dared not move again. She had experienced his temper before; it was better to go along with him at such times.
Indeed, Chu Ci did nothing more to her. Holding her, he went to sleep, and she, presumably exhausted, fell asleep quickly. On the contrary, Chu Ci couldn’t fall asleep; he lay with his eyes open, his heart feeling empty.
The big issue of Song Yunfei’s pregnancy had occurred without causing any disturbance between them. If it were someone else or his former self, he would probably be happy. But now, he couldn’t be happy no matter what; the calmer he felt, the more it proved she didn’t care about him… Chu Ci turned on his side, just in time to see her face in the dim light.
She was beautiful, even more so after having a child. Maybe she had been pampered and was living a lush life that nurtured her even better than before she had a child. Yet, he wasn’t satisfied. Not being able to win her heart made him frustrated and unwilling to accept the situation. He greedily wanted love, wanted a complete marriage, even if he was despicable, shameless, and insatiably greedy, he still wanted it all.
He looked at her face, unable to restrain himself from reaching out to touch her, but halfway, he put his hand down. Just then, the little one on the baby crib made some sounds, and Chu Ci frowned as he lifted the covers and got out of bed.
He leaned over to take a look; the little face was all scrunched up, and seeing him approach, Xiao Xunxun started crying. Chu Ci, not wanting to wake Zhao Mo Ran, simply picked the little one up and soothed, “Why are you crying?”
The little baby lay on his shoulder, still crying softly as Chu Ci touched him—
Warmth; it was time to change the diaper.
However, upon unwrapping, it turned out Xiao Xunxun had pooped, a golden mess with quite a pungent smell.
Chu Ci was slightly reluctant, never having done such work as a pampered young master. He had a momentary impulse to call a servant to deal with it, but then thought this would surely wake Mo Ran, who would then look down on him.
So he restrained himself, carrying the little one to the bathroom, clumsily handling the mess, washed the little butt, and changed into a clean diaper and a sleeper.
His technique wasn’t great, and Xiao Xunxun resisted a bit, but Chu Ci patiently soothed him until eventually, it was done… Holding the little fragrant one, he kissed him, “A bit ugly, but now it’s fragrant.”
The baby seemingly sensed his father, the little body cuddling softly against his chest, a little hand clutching his finger, Chu Ci’s heart suddenly softened.
Actually, what does it matter if Xiao Xunxun looks like Yan Yan or not? The important thing is this is the child Mo Ran gave him; growing up looking like her would be enough… He kissed him again and simply took the little one to the big bed to sleep.
After all the fuss, the baby easily fell asleep at this point, and Chu Ci, tired and smelling the comforting scent from the baby, quickly closed his eyes as well…
In the early morning, Zhao Mo Ran turned over to see Xunxun nestled in Chu Ci’s arms, wearing a new sleeper. She was a bit surprised but didn’t plan to wake them… She was now somewhat afraid of Chu Ci, afraid of his coercion.
Ever since he had feelings for her, she felt somewhat tired…
Stepping lightly out of bed, she hadn’t managed to escape before he grabbed her wrist, his voice low and hoarse, “Where are you running off to this early morning? Sleep a little longer.”
She pursed her lips, ‘I want to go to the bathroom.’
Chu Ci opened his eyes, scanning her body with slight surprise, then slowly said, “It’s not urgent; when Xunxun wakes up to eat it’ll be just right.”
Zhao Mo Ran lowered her eyes, “She won’t wake up until nine o’clock.”
It’s only seven now.
Chu Ci didn’t force her further, instead watched the little one in his arms while she went to the bathroom.
His wife was avoiding him.
He could tell, ever since he’d expressed certain feelings for her, she was more afraid of him than before, afraid he’d demand things from her… Chu Ci sneered coldly, she truly had a heart of stone.
As he was about to get up, his phone rang, and he saw it was Song Yunfei calling.
He hadn’t expected she’d dare to call him, so he reached out to answer, “Have you thought it over? How much do you want?”
Song Yunfei’s voice carried a trace of pitifulness, “Chu Ci, I don’t want to abort the child, I beg you.”
“If you don’t want to abort, do a DNA test in two months. If it’s not mine…you know the consequences.” He said coldly.
If it was indeed his, he wouldn’t allow her to have the baby.
On the other side, Song Yunfei trembled a bit, slowly hanging up the phone.
Two months… Four months on, this child definitely can’t be kept, or she’d be exposed. So, she’ll need a scapegoat. As long as she can retain Chu Ci’s mother’s trust, one day she’ll replace Zhao Mo Ran.
What use is money? It would soon be spent or gambled away by her family. What she wanted was the title of Mrs. Chu and endless money…
